I’ve heard this legend many times, (I live in Mexico) but the creepiest time I’ve heard it was one night, my grandma telling this legend, and when she was saying that La Llorona captures kids, there was a pause and all of a sudden, we heard a child cry! Everyone jumped

When I was younger and being babysat, I had a Mexican babysitter. She grew up in Mexico and then traveled to America. When I was telling her about my paranormal experiences, I asked her if she had any. She told me that when she was a child her and her sister were out playing by the river. Before they left to play their mom said dont stay out till dark, you need to come home. Well they went out and played until it got dark, and they remebered their mothers words. They were making their way home and heard screams, screams of a distressed woman. The screams sounded like they were coming from the river. As soon as her sister and her heard them they ran home. Their mother was mad at them and lectured them. I always heard the story of la llorona, and my babysitter always heard the story, as that la llorona would also drown other kids in the night if they were by the river.

my father saw La Llorona: He was riding a horse to the barn when he stopped because he saw a woman crying at the edge of the river he then asked "whats wrong?", she turned around and yelled "where are my children?" so loud that the whole village heard, the horse was so frightened it had ran off but eventually my dad ran as fast as he could and hooked onto the saddle of the horse and got home safe. My dad described her, black long hair, black tears, and a long white gown.

My grandma told me about La Llorona. My sister told me that where my aunt lives, that is the path to the river where La Llorona killed her kids. Also, my dad's brother (a.k.a Uncle) house is also the path to the river. My dad also told me about this.

I heard la llorona, two years ago when I was at a trip to mexico, she was crying I heard her say something but it was hard to hear but it was still pretty clear that she said "Ay, mis hijos..." I was trying to sleep, the next morning my aunt said that my uncle heard a woman crying too. When I heard that, I felt a cold shiver down my spine.

It’s in el Rio Grande, it has poisonous animals and dangerous ones too, and the waters are too tough for ANYBODY to escape. I use to live in a city next to it and I will always hear stories about people drowning there.

The tale that I grew up with was ...
that maria had 2 children her 9 year old daughter and 8 year old son . she lived in the center of a lake and to get back and out of her home she had to use a canoe and paddle it across , one day she and her children went to the market place and when they returned her house was burning in flames with out thinking she jumped out of the Canoe to put out the fire leaving her children inside of the Caneo . She was so busy putting out the fire of her home she did not hear her children calling for her as the Caneo started to drift away . Before she she knew it her children were gone . Then Maria gathered the towns folk to find her missing children . Sadly her children were found but dead by the river banks . The young Maria was devastated she than died of sadness . now she romes mexico city late at night Saying " My children " ( but in Spanish ) hoping to be reunited with them . Legend says if you hear this phrase keep young children inside with doors and windows locked because if she gets her hands on another child she would take them away never to be SEEN AGAIN .

Well, actually the tales in Mexico are a bit different. In the way, my grandmother told me and she heard was, La Llorona fell in love with a man, and she already had children a daughter and son. But the Man did not like her children. La Llorona loved the man so much she would do anything for him, so when he didn't want to be with her she drowned her children. When the man had found out what she had done he was so disgusted with her he left. Llorona was heartbroken she lost the man she loved, but most of all she killed her children. So she killed herself. So till this day she kidnaps children in hopes of one day finding her children

This is my version, the one i learned.
There was a widow with many children. She met a man and fell in love with him but the man said he couldn't marry her if she had all those kids. She took this quite literally and took them one by one and drowned them in the river. She went to the man and told him what she had done. The man was horrified and said he couldn't marry her after that and then he ran off. The woman is distraught and drowns herself. She is stuck in purgatory.

My uncle had an encounter with la llorona this is the story
Years ago when we lived in a small house my father used to drink with my uncle it was very late that friday and my uncle was leaving my mother told us to sleep we did are prayers and were about to sleep but we were awoken by a banging on the door my mother opened to see my uncle saying"shes out there help me" my mother confused asked who was out there he replied "la llorona" then he started hiting him self on the walls my mom told us to pray she grabed the bible in our room and started saying parts of it it stoped when my uncle hit him self on one of the walls and fainted.It wasn't a surprise tho I've had many more seeing ghost, hearing children and many more.
Boy that’s pretty interesting, my parents used to tell me that when I was younger I would always talk about my imaginary friend, a boy named Zane, and they all didn’t really take it seriously until I told them that Zane was gonna come out at night to meet us all and then take us with him, and when my parents asked how he was gonna do that I ended up saying something like he would come out of the mirror and use a knife, so after that they called a priest over, we went to church wayyy more often, I got baptized and I didn’t remember anything much about Zane after that

This is a true story that happened to me...
I was 7 at the time and my family and I went to my Aunt's Holiday house, which was in a large area. Their were about 10 family member that were there plus my aunts 3 dogs. One night my 2 year old brother and my 7 year old cousin were watching a movie on my dad's laptop. half way though the movie i saw a dark figure walk past the window which was a very long window. At first i thought it was just my uncle getting the dog inside. Then it happened again. I woke my cousin up. I told what I saw. then it happened again... "Its probability our uncle getting the dogs." we stayed up to see if it would happen again. It didn't happened again. We feel asleep.
The next morning, my cousin and I asked everyone if anyone went outside last night. They said that no one was awake that time. Then i went to my uncle he said "I wasn't outside... Why are you asking?"
To this day... I still do not know who... or even what walked passed that window...
This is my Paranormal experience...
I don't think it's paranormal. I think it was just a trick your eyes played on you when you were unconsciously paranoid. You thought you saw someone when you didn't. Either that or it was just some random person walking by and a flash of light from some car made it seem like the figure was right outside your window. You said it was a long window making it very possible.

So I was about to go to the bathroom and I saw a shadow figure, It just walked away slowly, I was assuming it was just the curtains, I then got terrified and asked someine to go to the bathroom with me, They accepted, When they walked in again, The shadow was floating and went away slowly again, I did my own business in the bathroom and told them they could go, I then closed the door, But before I could the door shuts slowly, Another thing was, When I was dreaming, The shadow figure was there, I just stared, Until I woke up, My brother's baby sitter have claimed she'd seen a shadow, A few moments there was a strange figure walking again, I crawled under my blanket, Them I woke up again, In that appartelle had a roof in the bathroom which was leaking brown, Soon after they had painted the bathroom to prevent the leaking, I assumed it was just my mind, But I guess it's normal.

I'm Ecuadorian and some how those stories came into our culture. My aunt told me a story just like those except a little different. A young women and her son were walking down a trial when a handsome young man came by and stunned by the young women's beauty he asked her to marry him. The young women flattered excepted but she mentioned her son. The man angry said "I will not accept this boy as my son." Worried that she'll be alone forever she threw the boy into a waterfall. Later the young woman told the young man that she killed her son and that now they can wed. Terrified the young man left the woman for good. So devastes that the young man left her and her son died she threw herself into the waterfall. Now near a waterfall you'll see a woman saying "My children! My children". When you do you must pray and walk away. And yeah it is in Mexico

So I was chasing my cousin and she lives near a river and If you cross the river then you get to my uncles house so I started chasing her down to the river and she suddenly stopped and I pushed her and I saw a woman crying while brushing her hair and she said “shhhh it’s la llorona” and I asked “what’s la llorona” all of a sudden I heard la llorona start to say “MY CHILDREN” my cousin grabbed my hand and we ran as fast at we could I turned around and she was chasing us saying “COME HERE MY CHILDREN “. Later we had to cross the bridge my parents said that I shouldn’t look or else she will take my soul...
I have another story so when I was 8 m I went to Mexico and me and my cousin were hanging out on the second floor and we heard tapping on the balcony so I got up and she said “Don’t go it’s la llorona” and I was so scared that I started running down the stairs and then I heard tapping on the window in the first story and that’s when I saw her in a white dress and white hair she started running to me that’s when my mom came down la llorona disappeared...
