My grandfather who is 90 told me that he saw La llorona when he was in his 20s (1950s). He grew up in a ranch and he says he was returning late from a party (past midnight) with a friend when he stopped by the local lake so his horse would get some water. Then he heard a lady crying when he looked across the river he saw la llorona crying floating above the lake. He says his heart dropped and he jumped in his horse and left full speed along with his friend
but were they drunk ? maybe drunk people imagines things. Jusy a theory.

I always hear the legend as a poor woman who had two sons with a man of very high social standing who promised to love her. And when he left her she fell into destitute and unable to feed her children she decided to drown them instead of let them starve. Once she realized what she had done she broke down sobbing and ended up dying. As a ghost she continued to wander the world looking for her children’s spirits.
That's so sad..
Yeah that's the one I know too, she drowns her children so they won't starve to death and then takes her own life

I have a theory about the legend. My theory is that god lied to her when she got to the gates of heaven and that the children were already in heaven but he wanted her to suffer for an eternity for her sins
Lying is a sin and god in Christianity literally can't commit a sin
God wouldn’t lie to her.
That’s a good theory. For the two people, God flooded the Earth and burned a city and if you looked at the city burning you get turned into salt. So uh
God never lies.

I feel like when the spirit box said “lots of twists” it meant that people twisted the original story often.

Twist ur arm ina box
Scariest thing about la llorona is that one of the most recent sighting in Mexico said that a man saw her and heard her cry .
The man started to run and prey while running for protection as he recognized la llorona , and she started to chase him as the screams became louder and louder and closer and closer .
He succeeded to outrun her and the night after meeting her ,posted the video on the net .
3 says later he died suddenly of strange health conditions afer meeting her .
This keep us ,ghost hunters awake at night
Honestly, this is just boys being boys and I love it
My parents told me that La Llorona was washing her clothes in a river when the water swept up her kids. She tried to save them, but she didn't manage to. And she took kids because she would hope that they are hers.
The story I heard is similar to this but not exactly I heard she did kill her children but she regreted it and looks for her children saying "mis hijoooos" and she'll take other kids to replace the ones she killed
@@kuromi70721 the ones I was told as a child were a combo of this
The one I heard was that she drowned her kids, realized what she had done so in despair she drowned herself. In punishment for doing so, she wasn't allowed into the after life unless she found her children's bodies. But since it's not possible for her to find them and she doesn't know, that she wonders around weeping by rivers and if she finds a child she'll pull them into the river with her in hope that it's hers
I saw a video recently where it was a pesent who married a rich man, his father was not approving of it. The husband bought a house for her and she gave birth to twins. They lived apart and husband would visit them and give gifts to them, over time, he show less attention to his wife and more towards his sons. Eventually, he stopped coming around. She was depressed and feared that because she was getting older that her husband left. One day, she's taking a walk by the river with her son's and sees her ex-husband in a horse drawn carriage with a younger, high-class woman, the man smiles and acknowledges his sons who wave back at him but completely ignores his ex-wife. After the carriage rides off, the woman starts weeping, seeing her ex-husband ignore her like she doesn't exsist and that he was with a woman more befitting his stature and in her anger, she hurls her sons into the river. Unfortunately, my internet went out on me at that part.
My parents told me that la llorona was washing her clothes in a river when the up her kids she tried to she took kids because she would hope that they are hers.

I like La Llorona as it is interpreted in Women Who Run with the Wolves. Clarissa Pinkola Estes posits that ancient stories passed down like LA Llorona can be understood on a psychic plane and may have been teaching tools. When a woman drowns the children of her psyche (symbolically , when a woman abandons or smothers her gifts, such as intelligence, creativity and intuition) for a man, or for someone else, she becomes lost, filled with despair, and will have to search to recover what she lost. Water is a symbol of life and creativity. It is associated with hidden depths. I am convinced that this story had an ancient purpose as a cautionary tale against a woman forsaking her authentic self for love.
M shocked this comment doesn’t have more likes. I love this take on the story
@@woesella8509 Thanks! You may enjoy the book, it includes stories and folklore from around the world.
I have an aunt and uncle that live in rural northern Georgia. They have many stories of odd folk stumbling onto their land at night. The most disturbing being an older woman, dressed in a dirty night gown, quietly crying and wandering around their driveway. After soaking in her presence my uncle briefly looked back to my aunt. When he turned around she was in a full sprint straight for the tree line, said it made his stomach drop how fast she moved. Cops came and searched in the morning, never found anything. I had never heard of La Llorona until now, and I will never bring my future children to that land

“Im getting out spanished by the white guy!”
The country of Spain would like to have a word
it took me a minute but oml 😂😂😂
Ikr, it always feels weird how all of Europe is white to some Americans... BUT NOT SPAIN!!!! YOU HISPANICS AREN'T EuRoPEan!
MissMoontree Spain is actually a “white” country. Better said, Caucasian.
@james jones But us Russians are white and we can dance lmao It's just western Caucasians that cant
james jones: That’s racist mate.
My family tells the story as, her husband had been deployed to war and she threw her children in a river to “hide” them and they had drowned. When she went to look for them they weren’t there and she blamed herself. She spent the rest of her life and her afterlife looking for her children. So when you hear her she’s trying to take you to replace her children. That’s how my family says the story
What these guys don’t know, is that la llorona is an omen of death. So if you hear her cry from far away it means she close to you if her cry is close move to sacred ground and pray she doesn’t see you.
11:28 “yeah, we’re gonna need to hear more then one or two words in a row”
Ghost clear as day “do you hear that?”
Fiona Fazbear I wish they would have stayed there and listened
Fiona Fazbear I almost cried
Do you think that was real????
sarah martinez I’m a Christian, I do believe their IS spirits and they can crossover to our side but even I’m still a sceptic about videos on the internet, but real or not you can’t deny it was funny
sarah martinez do u think the ghost also said “twist your arm in the box”
*La Llorona shows up and kills Shane*
Curly: YAAASSSSSS QUEEN SLAY!!!

The word “twist” being mentioned in these two places they went to is a bit intriguing. Talking about this story being twisted a lot with different versions.

La llorona: *TwIsT yOuR aRm In A bOx*

Literally everyone: **not a funny comment,
I do find it interesting that there is a theme of twisting, albeit probably a coincidence. "Twist your arm in a box" and "Lots of twists". It would be interesting if it ended up being La Llorona trying to communicate in Spanish, but the spirit box interprets it as English. Like Twist is " Tu es" or something lmaoo
He might've tapped into a radio station or something
@@michellegutierrez7605 i saw cars driving past so yea thats what happened
Curly: Is Shane gonna scream?
Ryan: No, he's gonna act like a child
Shane: *does that exact thing*
[Edit:]

I can't be the only one that thinks that voice sounded exactly like Shane's
21:47 does that ‘unintelligible’ not sound like a man yelling “don’t fall in!” ?!
Ryan predicting every moment of Shane's "walkthrough" HAD ME WHEEZING
"I'm getting out-Spanished by the white guy! 😱😱"
