Arjun is piece of junk, FCS of Arjuna might be somewhat good but the problem is the gun it self sucks so having a good fire control system means nothing when you have a tank that can barely penetrate anything. ( except for the Ukrainian made T55-64 tank, thanks Ukrainian for making such weird tanks so that we have a video to watch about it )
Also it's armor sucks so if you only have a RPG and was told you make sure the Arjuna doesn't break your lines than you are in for a tank slaughter.

Well, at least the TR85M is an upgrade over the original tank, this is a literal downgrade.
At least the Romanians tried to upgrade it, the Ukrainians just plain out removed every advantage it could have had before.
The existence of the TR85M is atleast justifiable, considering that it is a very cheap alternative to modern MBT's, but this tank, why did they create this tank? They made a glorified T54 tank whilst wasting a whole T 64B Hull

I've just read few articles about this tank a few days ago, in Ukrainian (I'm Ukrainian).
useless or not, but Kharkiv plant has an abundance of rusty T-64 hulls that were brought from the DDR in the 90s, and this "modification" or "hybrid" was a proposal to sell them for cheap to countries that operate T-55 and have a lot of 100mm ammunition stored but wanted something "better".
So instead of letting them rust or scrap them, they decided to earn some money and I don't think it's a bad idea.
Is it the most useless tank ever? Maybe, if you are fighting a potent enemy, but if you are fighting some dudes with jeeps and RPGs probably not.
Should it be used in modern combat or in the Ukrainian army? BIG NO.
Can it be useful for some poor countries like Somalia or Zimbabwe? I think so.
Were the designers drunk or something like that when designing this tank? Definitely not. In fact, they were smart but misunderstood.

I decided that judging a tank by solely its hard stats can't always determine how useful it may be. Let me remind you that upgraded Shermans were used to great effect during the Six-Day War despite their apparent obsolescence in that conflict.
The crews made all the difference.

Except that what happened to this tank is the complete opposite of what happened with the upgraded shermans, while the upgraded shermans took an outdated tank hull and replaced its turret and weapons for a modern one, this tank on the video had an old and extremely outdated turret and gun placed onto a much more modern modern hull.
In other words, its a downgrade, rather then an upgrade.
As some of the best tanks in the world right now (not that many countries put as much money into it) aren't exactly striking fear into Ukrainians, this is the correct take, also Romania didn't build these to fight off superpowers, in a way they are ingenious for reusing resources and creating something suitable for their needs and price concerns whereas many countries would just choose to have basically no tanks. Whereas my country bought hundreds of Abrams and will never use them, too heavy, even to support coalitions we could have just bought lighter tanks.
The whole point isn't about upgrading or downgrading.

From the perspective of an infantry, a tank is tank. Doesn't matter how good it is fighting other tanks. As long you foot soldier with only a rifle, any tanks still will ruin your day.
from a perspective of the infantry, you never walk without someone who has an Anti Tank weapon with him and a cast armour turret is an invitation for top attack munitions.

@@nogisonoko5409 lol, wut, the t14 can carry 42 rounds of air burst HEF that will wipe out infantry and lightly armored vehicles, not to mention its 12.7mm kord hmg and 7.62 coaxial mg which don't require the crew to expose themselves. What are infantry gonna do to it? With its armor no atgm can penetrate it even if the APS system didn't intercept it, which it easily could seeing it can intercept even apfsds. Finally it has 3rd gen thermals for the gunner and commander and an advanced ballistic computer which means it'll be much more accurate at longer ranges

42 rounds. Limited amount of APS. I even doubted APS ability to kill APFSDS.
Assuming those infantries and mechanised forces have RPG-7s and long range ATGM (probably Konkurs or Kornet) with autocannons IFV it gonna be a stunlock for T14.
If by any means those autocannons and anti tank rockets disabled all the T14 sensors and guns, rendering it blind and weaponless or it APS run out of ammo or being overwhelmed by various anti tank rockets, those weapon will surely make T14 Armata incapable for combat.
The worse part is, you have one T14 only while for the same price you could get 30 shit tanks that could fire 30 HE rounds and 30 coaxial machine guns at the same time, sure some of them will explode due to them not having enough defenses, but those firepower alone will rout even the most hardened infantry. It like 30 Hyena tried to kill a lion.
Statistically, yes it does look bad for this tank in 1v1 situation, but as far as im concerned, war never conduct in that particular way.

Well its not really just opinion. Its also based off of what the tank can do. And the T-72 can do everything this tank can do but better.
The T-80 and T-90 tanks aren't much better. They all send their turrets very high into the sky when hit.
@@herbb8547 They send their turrets into the sky when hit by a javelin. But every tank will be destroyed when hit by a javelin. Russian tanks only send their turrets into the air due to the ammunition layout. But all tanks, NATO included, would explode quite spectacularly if hit by a javelin.
@@skparadise3382 Yeah, those Javelin missiles are something alright. Still, the Russian tanks do give the most spectacular explosions of all and have a 100% kill rate of their crew. Very impressive to achieve such amazing results. Russia must have had the best and brightest involved to make tanks with such, uh, capabilities.
On the other hand, the Abrahams M1 tank would most likely also be taken out of action, but the crew may survive and the explosion won't be nearly as large. Boring! So, it is safe to assume that Russia wins the most dramatic tank in the world contest.

"The most useless tank ever" that's quite an interesting way to put it, I mean it's not completely useless, isn't it? If you're fighting against an insurgency/guerilla/rebellion type opposition, you won't be needing the best of the best of equipments.
It certainly more useful than some British designs in the 1930s. Still a pointless development though

This tank could be usefull as fire support vehicle of infantry more than tank vs.tank. It's light, maneuverable and easy to maintain.After all, not a bad invention. It uses all possible rounds that an infantry regiment needs to keep or capture a position: bust bunkers, obliterate infantry enemy platoons with HESH rounds, etc. Most suitable for assymetrical than conventional warfare.
Was curious if you could do a brief overview on US Explosive Reactive Armor. It's not really talked much about and I'm curious what the US has done in that field and how it stacks up to the Russian and Chinese kinds
The Marines used it on the M60 at the time of the first Gulf war, but in general the west never believed much in reactive armor. It's significative that the German upgrade armor kit for the Leo I (MEXAS) and both Leonardo and General Dynamic upgrade armor kits for the M60 added composite armor and not reactive armor. The Israeli M60 upgrade kit (M60 Sabra) uses reactive armor on the MkII instead.

Given that you can buy a fully refurbished basic t72 without era... for likely less than this .. hahhaha
Why to buy it when there was relatively long era after the fall of the communism when Eastern countries would even donate you heavy armament as it was cheaper than to pay for its destruction (as they either reduced numbers due to the treaties or old Cold War numbers were too high to sustain with crumbling economy).
There were quite a few projects over the world designed for the economy of less developed parts of the world which died due to abundance of this military hardware.

Kharkiv plant has never been the same since T-72... I think the designers now have serious alchohol problem, due to depression from Nizhniy Tagil overtaking them.
I think the depression started ealier, remember that while the T-54 is kharkov, the T-55 was an upgrade designed by UVZ. the fact that UVZ designs have done better (in terms of sales) since the T-54 is despressing
UVZ got the contracts for the upgrades to T-54 aswell as the new and improved T-55.
T-62 did better than object 430, kharkov's tank didn't even see production...
T-72 did better than T-64 (atleast in terms of sales), atleast they got to be the primary tank for a few years...
and T-90 did better than T-84, although by this point they are separate countries...

Even penguins that had been drunk after drinking Arctic Alcohol could be more effective then this.
Penguins can listen to props and then go that direction to board the ship before bringing ice and melting it on the deck so that the crew would fell off the deck and then the penguins could invite Sharks over to destroy the boat before migrating to the Arctic

It's not a t55 modification.The thing is completely re-engineered, everything is changed inside and out, only barely resembles a t55 only from the front with no view of its sides.
They started with t55 blueprints and built new tanks after modifying those.

So i wanted to point out something not related to the video. You have often said that the abrams L/44 gun needs an upgrade but the crux of the issue is that a longer gun will actually degrade it’s ability to defeat heavy ERA such as kontact 5 era. This is because m829a3 is like american version of 3bm42 mango in the sense that the steel tip is what set off the era allowing the main core to penetrate the armor unhindered. If you increase its velocity any further, the projectile will go so fast when striking ERA that by the time the explosives went off, the main core is now the one being affected, not the steel tip. This is why they developed M829A4. Assuming it is loaded back to higher velocities it is on par with DM63 L/55 in most respects despite being fired from a shorter gun. In fact, prototypes of M829A3 have already reached up to 1000mm penetration (most likely perforation and spalling, “penetration” as in the projectile gets through intact is more likely at 850mm) but as previously stated the main purpose when developing m829a3 was to defeat kontact 5, not to penetrate as much armor as possible. M829a4 on the other hand IS meant to penetrate as much armor as possible unlike A3 since spending RND on basically a m829a3 copy paste makes no sense.
Despite all that, the russian army is being defeated by Ukraine. Even with "useless" tanks. How bad is the russian army?

What? anti tank rockets are killing Russian tanks. Most Ukrainan tank have been killed by Russian tanks. Russian tank are way better than Ukrainian tanks but western AT weapons are better than Russian tanks.

I mean, it sort of is useless... but then again, ERA can work magic on it as can an upgraded turret with a 120 or 125 mm gun. I wonder how it feels for a more powerful engine?
@@ravenouself4181 Would be cool to see a smaller country upgrade their T-55s like that. T-55 is still great in wars that aren't against organized superpower armies. If anything, I have seen it being used basically as an AFV. And it certainly wasn't useless in its own time. Probably one of, if not the greatest tanks ever made.

Hey, Redeffect, I heard that new MK. 1A version of Arjun tank has quite a bit of improvements, one article even said it could be like the M16 of tanks (as in M16 wasn't reliable but the A1 was.)
