Tom isn’t giving this one enough credit. This game is exceptionally fun. Very thinky and the beautiful pieces are a bonus. I do agree that five rounds might be a good idea as games do go a little long…they are fun though so no complaints. This game is a favorite in our group.

I felt the same way. The scoring cards were a bit too complicated and it was a round or so too long. I thought the migration mechanic was a neat idea to clear the board during the second half of the game. And it is absolutely beautiful. Lovely to look at, but not as enthralling as I had hoped playwise. I will have to try it with the house rules mentioned below... Thanks Tom!

Another enjoyable Vasel family review! Re the theme… a tad harsh? A photographer wouldn’t arrange the animals and they wouldn’t stay exactly as hoped, they move at will and photographer waits patiently hoping to get perfect picture, sometimes it will Work, others they will move on. Looking forward to trying this one.

I just finished playing my first game and enjoyed it very much!
It did take us 4 hours to play, so yeah that was a bit long.

I liked it much better the second time, with a few house rules: 1: 5 rounds, not 6 and 2: the plants/flowers/ bananas score end of game just like the hearts.

Let’s face it…. It’s about the animal meeples.
The printing size on the cards especially the terrain part was a problem for my group…. 4 player took about 1/2 hour per round. ( most of that was thinking of what to do). I would do 5 rounds only in a 4 player omitting 2nd or 3rd….We were surprised on how many cards we were able to complete.
I would of preferred scoring disks rather then a camera. But half way in the game we laid them down then that worked better. But the worker one is fine.
I never played a game where I had to place things in order to score so maybe that’s why I liked it more. ( I’m sure another game does it better but I’m good with this )

The game is deceptively think-ey. But I enjoy it. My only real complaint is that its a bit long. It could probably be shortened by a round or 2.

10:33 In Wild: Serengeti everything is public information. There's no "cards in your hand".

This was the first thing I got rid of when we played. The game already takes a long time. The last thing you need is everyone trying to also mess you up or hate draft. Keep them hidden in your hand, takes out a round, heck lower the coins per round by 1. A four player game can be done in 2 hours that way.

i feel the criticism about not having much control of the animals is unfair. If it was too easy to complete the photos, people would complain it was too easy.
The way to manage other people moving animals is to look at it like a “market” game and pick cards that have animals that you know others will move for you and pick different cards that give you multiple options. If you are flexible, you’ll always have something you can do. If you’re very stubborn though and just insist on completing a card even though it’s not conducive to the current market, then yea it’s tough. But that’s a strategic fault, not the game.

Played my kickstarter copy with my wife and son once so far. We really liked it. I disagree with Tom's statement that there's no use looking at the board until your turn. I felt like I was always coming up with plans and backup plans - and that added to the fun. You definitely need to pick a scoring strategy and go with it.

I just recently played a game of this after receiving my Kickstarter copy. I found it to be extremely fun with a good group to play with. Its far more strategic than it looks and there definitely are multiple paths one might take to try to gain points. Some people will complain a bit about some of the mechanics, but once you get into the game it moves quickly.

Great video 😊🙏 Looking forward to playing it ❤️ My gaming group doesn’t like take that in games, but I can play it with my husband and eventually my mostly video gaming son 😁

The “take that” in this game isn’t intentional though so I don’t think that even counts.

@@jpowers9879 I suspect my gaming group thinks that is even worse 😁 I might convince them to try it out anyway, I think it seems really good ❤️

The main issue with this game is, for a game that LOOKS thematic, the actual content and gameplay is incredibly unthematic. They had a great opportunity to have things like, capture a pic of a herd of elephants, or capture a picture of a zebra surrounded by Hyenas, or score extra points if hippos are in water, or if zebras are next to water. All the pieces are functionally exactly the same. What if, when you place a lion, any prey animals in adjacent tiles move one tile away. Stuff like that. I don't know, just make better use of the theme.

The cover did look more fun than the gameplay. To me that is.

man those cards are way too cartoony compared to how the rest of the game looks, feels like I'm about to play a JRPG.
