WILD: Serengeti is a board game inspired by the endless plains of the Serengeti. This game combines the joy of puzzle-solving with elements of set-collection and engine-building to create a deep and unique strategic experience. The mesmerizing artwork, 3D components and detailed animeeples will guide you straight into the vivid and breathtaking wilds of the Serengeti.
In order to gain victory points, the player must complete Scene Cards by placing the animals on the Main Board in the same pattern as shown on the cards.
To achieve the pattern shown on the Scene Cards, players perform actions to either place or move animals on the Main Board. When animals are placed on the Main Board in the same pattern as displayed on the Scene Card, the scene can be completed. When completing Scene Cards the player receives ‘Icons’ or ‘Rewards’. With Rewards, players can earn points or different resources, and with Icons, gain continuous benefits throughout the game.

5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
1.0 - A game that is just bad.

This has been one of the most popular new games in our play group. I haven't found that much "messing up" happens. It does happen, but hasn't happened much for us. I really like it. = )
I love this game so much. (2 player and solo plays only)
My play partner was a bit frustrated at the end of each game(I believe due to losing) but they always asked to play again 🤭
I should add, that the house rule was people were not allowed to mess up something the other is completing next turn 🤣 so we probably play too easy but it works for us.
I have played it once 3-p, once 2-p and nine times solo so far. Always with the specialist cards, which are really fun IMO. I enjoyed it multiplayer, didn’t find it too chaotic or random actually, but where this game shines is in the solo mode. I absolutely love the puzzle 😍 I still just try to beat my own score, but there are plenty of interesting scenarios as well, if beating my own score gets old. I also have the expansion that I haven’t tried yet. I hope to also play it multiplayer in the future, but if not, I’m super happy for backing it just for the solo experience. 😎👍😊

I totally agree that this game seems a bit long, and definitely agree it can inspire AP, but I totally disagree with your other criticisms especially chaotic, non-elegance, or randomness. And it's okay that you feel that way of course, I just hope folks who see this review realize there's some folks who STRONGLY disagree with those elements of this criticism.
I really like this game, really fantastic.
I've played it once with 3 players and we all enjoyed it. I haven't played Cascadia or Endangered though
It is a looker I'll give you that. But your review hits exactly what I thought it would be. In fact I'd say 3 out of 5 is a generous score.

Really glad I held strong and didn't back this one. It's so pretty but I know it'll never hit the table with my group. I was tempted to just get the Animeeples too 😝

I picked up the game along with the sleeves and upgraded wooden tokens from the Kickstarter and would like to sell it. Is there a good place you'd recommend using?
Yeah I don't know had a different experience maybe based on game group, I played 2 games at 4 player and 2 at 2 player. In all the games I had some messing up but for the most part I had additional cards I could put out that it didn't matter, and I felt the swap action easy fixed most of the Animal paths I was trying to make. Maybe if people were going all out to screw over your combo's I can see it, but for the most part their weren't enough messing up for the game to be too random. Also the time it took was about 1hr each play for me, 45 mins for the 2 player games, though I can see people stalling their turn not knowing what they wanted to do. I am going to say it but this game is similar to canvas in many ways, however unlike Canvas you don't have dead cards, were you got a line up of cards that you can't get any scoring with. I found in Wild Serengeti their were always cards you could make, that could help you out. I actually really enjoyed this one and so did my game group that its staying in the collection.
I suspected that I wouldn't enjoy this game too much. I'm glad that I didn't back it.
I'm with you on this one. I should love this beautiful game but is not for all the reasons you bring up. By the third game we just said keep your cards in your hand.
For me this game sits somewhere just above gateway or as a take that for gamers. There are many things to consider when playing, My opponent has 2 cards with elephants... I will stay away from them, or be a D&^3 and move them... I played with some cut throat players and the expanded powers and it was quite fun as we all were screwing each other over while trying to quickly score a card. Having your high point cards evaporate as the migration happens can be painful.
I agree it's not a great game, but fun with the right people..yes as long as you know what you're getting into.
I thought you’d love this game. After diving into the rules, I nearly canceled my pledge but thought the game would be light enough for my son to play. Got the game. Not as excited as I was during the campaign. It’s not a bad game but nothing I would ever ask for. Meeples are really cool and I might find another game to use them instead 😬
I feel the same way about this game. I love puzzle game with player interactions and this game should hit that. But when I played friend's copy, the game feels too long because how repetitive the turns are. The migration cards did nothing but set progress back and accidental screwing other players didn't really help spicing up turns
I played this yesterday! It was…. Not for me. The last few turns just turns into everyone wiping the goal cards in hopes they’ll pull one that’s already complete. But man is this game pretty looking. We also didn’t play with the role cards which I think would have improved things.
This is the 2nd time I've heard that it's "long." Not in my experience. We've only had our games run about 60-90 mins depending on player count.
The only real criticism I have is the weird arbitrary subtraction, division on some cards that don't seem inherently better than any one other card that does the opposite.
As with you I didn't like this game as well as Cascadia but I liked it better than my friends who felt about it almost exactly as you did. Thanks for the review.
I agree with all your complaints with some more; I think the main thing that turned us away was the scoring. If you get some of those scenes completed it’s possible to get negative points? That just feels so bad, I just want to put animals on the board ☹️ It seems that there are some cards that are just better than others to collect and the scoring of the scene cards doesn’t seem very balanced
I like this game a good amount. But it plays way better at two. With 3 or 4 it feels too random - you can be perfectly set up for a scene and then have the entire board change by your next turn. At 2 players its almost chess like with how you move everything around.
The game is beautiful too! I love those meeples.
I have a couple nit picks though - 1) the game feels a tad long. I think it should be a round or two shorter. 2) The scene cards do not feel balanced at all. The “like” cards are significantly better and the Leaf/flower cards are pretty much useless.
I can totally see how randomness might ramp up with more players... 2 player deliciousness so far for me!
Yup, it doesn’t surprise me. I followed the campaign and visually the game really compelled me, it looks gorgeous. But gameplay-wise I knew it wasn’t for me. It’s an engine and scoring mechanism that looks messy and that simply doesn’t sound fun, in my opinion. Actually, at the time, I would bet you wouldn’t find it as compelling as you thought you would and it seems I was right xD

Personally i like the game, easy to learn, hard to master, it requires players to read the board and read other players. Definitely not a multiplayer solitair game.
Still unplayed... but bought is also that if did not find it fulfilling enough I could give the wooden animals to my youngest one to play with.
I felt that the ways to move the animals were too limited in order to achieve the wildly varying objectives I get. Strategising felt meaningless and even tactical decisions felt more frustrating than challenging. I felt that there is no reasonable amount of control over what's happening on the board, which led to the feeling that whatever I do is meaningless. I felt that the entire mechanics were very messy. It's about 4/10 or 5/10 for me.
Wanted to love it. But I did not.
Very pretty game, but we have a player with serious AP which made the game draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag for very long. IMHO playing it takes too long for what it is.
