- A factory that will expand indefinitely with no human input - the first of it's kind. See my other video for savefiles. Only two mods are needed: Recursive Blueprints and Logistic Train Network. For more details, see the imgur album: imgur.com/a/Ewhsv

Factorio=A game about automation and creating systems.
*Creates a AI that plays the game for you*
You have just beaten the game.
*ai creates ai to play for it* you'eve beating the game again
@@blackky_______________9253 create person who create ai which creates ai to plays for you..
Here comes SkyNet
yeah, launching a rocket isn't the true ending, creating a self expanding factory is the true ending
It's actually not AI or, as he explained he literally made THE ENTIRE THING using the in-game logic proccessors.
(Edit) Nevermind, he actually does use mods, but it's still not AI.
When you automate so much you don't need to play anymore
It's hilarious that it is almost exactly the point of the game itself. Almost.
Go to work and come back to most of the planet being covered in factory
Deathbycupcakes can always use it as screen saver?
One thing I would like is where the factory mines out the new location first, then expands itself to the new area. This way you don't have resources stuck under train tracks or sidings that you cannot get to. After that, toss in a few solar collectors/accumulators in the mined territory, and keep a perimeter of laser turrets and walls. The perimeter increases linearly while the power generation/storage increases by area, so eventually you are producing and storing enough power to keep the laser turrets going against the tougher stuff
At that point, it becomes a clicker game
Good trick. Now let this run forever and automate the capture and upload of videos to your youtube channel.Go on a vacation for a while to plan the automation of expanding to new locations once the income from youtube sustains it, automate the building of another computer and setting up of automatic uploads as another youtube channel. Sit back and relax as youtube slowly is overtaken with only automatic factorio videos.
Just want to add that this is absolutely amazing.
... only then will you know what Factorio is really about!
ceselb :-)
Nice idea. Now continue until you take over youtube completely and then take a vacation while you think of a way to automate the take over of other social medias. Make a bunker far away from civilization where youll blackmail all social medias and demenstrate your power by taking over twitter. With the terror and wealth you gain, you do end up taking out all of google. Now, you automate the production of new social medias make of only factorio automation videos. Soon, only anyone will know is factorio. Start putting in subliminal messages to take over the general public. You now automate the creation of an army of people to take over the world. With every single human taken over, you have them work to make space ships thatll colonize planets. After awhile you start to automate that with the new materials you gain. You discover aliens and then befriend them, you have them merge species and then, you mind control them to add to your army. You automate collection of aliens into your army. You soon take over the universe. You automate the taking over of other universes. You reign supreme over the multiverse. You look around the industrialized planets youve created. You walk forward, and you get ran over by a train god damn it.
im 13 yet when i grow up i'll do this
I always believed that robots and computers would replace humanity at one point, but I didn't think it would start with goddamn Factorio.
Should've known it'd start with Factorio.
actually there are similar constructs in minecraft
Because this game was inspired by BuildCraft and IndustrialCraft mods for Minecraft
>compares factorio to minecraft
+1man1van
bretty sure thats BS my dude
This is taking Factorio to it's logical endpoint.
the next step would be a game that patches itself, or implementing new features for itself
@Orest Lenczyk - This would truly be the end of the computer sciences as we know it. A computer AI that codes specific things/anything for humans.
At that point AI would not even need humans as it can sustain itself.
I forgot specifics, but I saw a video once about how gen 1 Pokemon games are an algorithm that have a solution that can be solved by a computer. This is another great example of that, finding a precalulated path from start to finish with one flexible solution.
its endpoint

Amazing! I'm the original author of Recursive Blueprints (before justarandomgeek took over), and this kind of build is exactly the endgame I had in mind when I started it. Great to see someone finally realise the dream!
Thanks! Wouldn't have happened without your idea. The first time I stumbled across your mod, I started thinking...
very impressive piece of work, the dream would be a base using a "Mall" to supply with anything and everything else built in Factorissimo like cells and can even upgrade itself when new tech is unlocked, only problem is, that there is no trains and logistic networt at the start :(
In mod Brane new world you will start witout character but only with bots... so maybe there you can try.
Downplay VR yes yes yes, original, yes yew
I kinda want to learn how to make a megabase and have fun
You've managed to automate... automation...
And you've succinctly described "Von Neumann" self-replicating machines. Not bad.
Just got the game recently. Managed to automate production of red and green science. Feel proud of myself. Find this video. Lost the will to live. Me dumb, no play play gamey anymore.
Aaaw
Rest in piece confidence
Everyone starts somewhere. The person who made this began by automating science packs just like you. I hope you're still playing the game now, two years after writing this comment :)
@@mantidream8179 simple math 8 miners a side one yellow belt ... double it for red and and again for green ... power gets a belt of its own always ... stone gets a belt ... then copper gets 4 or 6 and iron gets about 8 ( 4 of which get reprocessed into steel )

thats a very basic guideline ... if you run low somewhere add more miners and speed up the belt or add another belt of supply to it ... and poof you advance some more

This is absolutely incredible.
Adam Weaver pretty much the same as whatever computing device you used to watch this video with, though. incredible, right?
***** tru
This maybe is to much work but it would be great to see like a timelapse over several hours to see how the factory would look like after a long time.
I like this idea. If you go to the forum thread link in the description there's a picture of the biggest I've gotten it so far; I keep restarting it to tweak one thing or another. Once I'm happy I'll throw it on some server and see how long I can get it to run :).
Yes please!
Sounds good, Let's make a self replicating program that can organise materials and upload it on some random server!
What could possibly go wrong our last words will be..
Hum, it doesn't seem to compile like expected...
hey man, if you're still interested is there a server running? I'd love to see this!!
This is why I stopped playing. I feel too dumb at this game.
Same here.
I feel you. It's like I'm sitting here going "look! I have a train!" While this guy's like "IT'S ALIVE!"
Ahaha! I know that 3 copper wire assemblers feed 2 green circuit assemblers and that's where my knowledge stops. I still run back and forth carrying stuff by hand because I can't plan out satisfying logistics.
On the flipside, I actually love this about Factorio. The fact that you can either go around chopping wood or masterminding a bloody AI.
things like this are the reason i didnt even start in the first place.
Don't you see how complex this is? It's not like anyone can easily create it.
Twelve thousand years later:
"Do you have the net terminal gene?"
Nice reference. Very nice.

i just managed to make green science and this dude... did this... WTF
He's probably been at this for much longer. Keep trying buddy!
now there's a goal worthy of playing for ... learn how he did it by doing it yourself ... and make one that can do a speed run on ANY map

Not quite a "GreyGoo" situation yet because the brain doesn't replicate itself. So if anyone were to destroy the single instance of control it's all over. Also it doesn't start self constructing exponentially faster as more brains come online.
@Mr Penguin
Well on the macro scale its a non self replicating Von Newman type machine. The true power of self replication is exponential growth which you don't get with this machine as although it expands its resource collection capability it dosn't reproduce its manufacturing and command centers to make more independent factories that could go on to expand by themselves.
He did say mk 1
I want to run this map on my computer, and just let it go for like.... a week straight.
Go for it! Check my other video for the savefiles. Post how big it gets!

This was incredibly satisfying to watch. Please keep it up and show us your new creations.
This is just awesome! I can't imagine the amount of creativity that must've went behind this project!
I guess you've just created a completely new sub-genre of Factorio!!!
1. Load random map with certain criteria
2. Start with self expanding factory system
3. wait
4. record the whole process on video
5. fast forward
6. auto-upload to RUclips
7. go to 1 and change some parameters
...
this is amazing. so, the important thing in factorio is to automate your resource production... and you tackle that in the possibly most creative and automated way... kind of^^. when you could manage it to go for the rocket and satellite launch at some point, besides, fighing biters and using oil etc (basically finishing the game without the player doing any additional move) it would be an amazing "meta ingame AI challange setup" (how fast can it beat the game? can it grow exponentially? etc)
ps:
I also love cellular automata. there's one example, the Hutton Replicator which can replicate itself but it uses a much simpler "engine" than factorio with much simpler rules XD
Nerd
What you did right here is nothing but awesome. I would love to play this mod you have made.
Wow, this is so incredibly impressive! Amazing work!
I feel like your definition of "simple" varies from mine.
Reminds me of the self-expanding city in "BLAME!" manga. Awesome stuff.
Holy shit that manga looks interesting
IT'S ALIVE!!!
Great work man! Absolutely astonishing!
Thats really cool that you were able to build this.
What happens if it runs into a nest? :P
Biters are disabled, and it doesnt do OIL transport due to how hard is it to place pumpjacks and connect them with pipes, thus the lack of accumulators and factory shutting down at night.
He plans to work on those two things in patch 0.15 as it will change some fluid mechanics and stuff.
0.15 patch will also ads a nuclear reactor and uranium ore, which he could automate.
How did he make robots without lubricants though? Or batteries?
It seems like the robots are limited and are just reused every cell.
@@SgtWiking I was wondering, why is it hard to do oil? When you find an oil spot, just plop down a pumpjack, and then cover all spaces nearby with pipes. Sure that it's inefficient, sure that it's ups hungry, but just like in 2:34, when you have a bloody self expanding factory, efficiency isn't important. If resources are low, just go around and look for another ore deposit. If UPS is a trouble then deconstruct the old oil fields and construct new ones.
Warning in advance: Some overbearing romanticization incoming!
I know it might seem an overreaction, or downright absurd to some, but these kind of little personal projects give me hope for humanity. These interesting ideas that relate to the very heart of the human en-devour to create, discover and invent and that builds up from existing human ideas and well refined technical knowledge, as well as previous achievements to make something so personal in what it expresses.
In a way it's the ultimate manifestation of the ideal libertarian society, from the collective of all humanity are provided the means for the individual to pursue his personal vision, with trust that it will inevitably reflect the needs and desires of humanity and thus in turn benefit society. Nowhere there-in found the need for coercion or authority, or structure beyond that which maintains the freedom of the process.
"It's just a game" might seem the reflex-response, but isn't that the point? No pressure of any kind, no real objective or any outside force, pure ego unleashed, in the positive sense, intertwined with that of others by means of a communication network and the natural fabric of society.
...I will see myself off now...
This is the Essence of human creativity after all, creating a game for the sole purpose of allowing people to create what they want.
That’s why games like Minecraft, Terraria and of course, Factorio are so popular. Anyone can truly do anything they can conceive of in this game.
In these worlds we are no longer limited by reality in the sense, so human imagination can truly be realised
Incredible piece of work! :D
Wow! Amazing work done here!

Do you want Reapers? Cuz that's how you get Reapers.
Why is six afraid of seven? Six hasn't been the same since he left Vietnam. Every time he closes his eyes, he sees Charlie hiding in the darkness of the forest. Not that you could ever see those bastards, mind you. They were fast and they knew their way around the jungle. He remembers the looks on the boys' faces when they walked into that village and... oh Jesus. He shouldn't think about that now. Sometimes he still hears Tex's slow southern drawl. He remembers the smell of Bob's cigarettes. He always had a pack of Luckys. But the boys are gone now... he knows that. It's--it's just that he forgets sometimes. And sometimes the way that seven looks at him... it makes him think. Sets him on edge. And he feels like he's back there... In the jungle... In the darkness. Also Seven has a hook for a hand, Which is quite scary.
Snazz that escalated... Instantly
That went..... interesting
Seven is a pirate and he has come for gold
Very super! Your station is amazing!
Great video, job well done sir!
Factorio: Work hard so you never have to work again!
Congratulations, you just created life.
Yeah it reminded me a lot of a cell
This is insane. Great job!
Mind officially blown. Great work!
Not even Germans could achieve this level of efficiency.
This is pretty amazing! Would it be possible to have a map download to see it closer?
See the forum thread linked in description.
Every so often I see this video again, and I really thing you should post a second video, just so we can watch it. It doesn’t need to show anything new, just want to watch it in action. 😂
PLEASE let this run over a week and post the resulting timelapse. This is absolutely incredible.

You are one hoopy frood.
Not ending the video with a x100 of the world being consumed. For shame~ Still, super awesome and clever work man!
This is the video that got me into playing Factorio, Thanks :)
What happens when it reaches water does it place landfill?
Looks like water is disabled outside the starting area.
we should apply this to a real life miniature model and see what happens
Would probably die due to over expansion and exhaust its resource
That is the most impressive factorio build I've ever seen.
Amazing, wish I understood circuits like you do!
Nice, though, it looks like the build rate is sub linear due to the centralization. True grey goo should at least manage hyperbolic growth, if not exponential.
Yep. In the future I'm aiming for accelerating growth. Exponential is possible in the short term but ultimately max expansion rate is only quadratic due to robot speed limits. Hyperbolic growth is unsustainable and impossible for grey goo; might want to check your terminology there.
I can't even begin to imagine how he did this, nonetheless have automated production of robotics and factory capabilities allowing it to grow faster and faster as the amount of robots increases and the factory becomes exponentially insane. If you could achieve this I would be truly dumbstruck.
Better add this to your resume
Outstanding work!
Why do I feel like this was way harder to build than just building the factory yourself? Amazing job.
Any projections for when it'll become sentient?
holy shit, dude
This is so amazing. I would love it if you would do some tutorials. I can only do very basic things with the circuit network.
I am crying. This beauty is too much to contain.
I've come to the conclusion that whoever mad this mod is obviously a robot.
It's not a mod tho.
I can barely reach steam power in this game.
I get to steam in about 20 minutes if coal, copper and iron is close. If its in small patches it becomes about an hour
Lmao I build steam engines like 15 min in
really amazing, nice one dude
This is both exciting and terrifying at the same time
I think you're in the wrong game, Abathur
This would be more impressive if the vanilla game supported it. Mods kinda let you do anything.
but all these mods do is automate input. In vanilla, you could manually que the blueprints and reroute the trains, the mods are merely interfaces for the AI.
That's the coolest thing I've seen anyone build in factorio yet!
this is amazing... as others have said.. would love to see a save game of just after initial set up.. want to let it run for several hours just to see how it expands... or possibly even some blueprint strings of the brain and a basic start point..
Maybe even do a tutorial like start up for us.. you have earned a SUB for future updates...
This may be the best thing I've ever seen.
this video is what made me love this game
Oh. Modded factorio. I was excited for a moment.
Your clones are very impressive. You must be very proud.
Holy... good job dude :)
Wow ... this is ... amazing engineering ... very very cool.
The fact that this whole thing turns off at night really makes it seem like it's not just a factory, but a real living thing.
Many automation such beauty, thank you.
This is a very impressive design.
Yes RUclips recommendation gods, I will watch this one more time if it will appease you.
I could watch this for hours
That is fucking awesome. Well done sir!
Amazing Work!
The brain that must have come up with all of this is a god damn Genius.
This is some epic stuff!
I'm gonna check it out sometime..
I just started Factorio a few days ago, and this is how i imagine the actual endgame - automatizing everything so well that finaly the game plays itself and you can stop :D
the factory must grow
It's funny. I've played a decent amount of Factorio, to the point where I launched a rocket.
Since then, I've been learning to code and it's amazing how seeing people progress with what they can do in Factorio is the same as coding. Just exanding and building on simple ideas to the point where it's so complex that you don't know where to begin.
Great video man!
Don't even want to know how long this took you, genius man - seriously
Good job dude :D
