Full disclosure, speedup mods were used for extremely long afk stints, like blue circuits
I was hoping you used them, otherwise the pain would be unbearable
Oh thank goodness!!! For a bit near the start I actually wondered if you were an insane person and not using them.
You spend more time in this run than I have spent in factorio in total. I hope you speedup the game. You should submit it as a speedrun.
and here I am thinking u really sacrificed 800+ hours of your life to make 22 minutes video....
insert DISAPPOINTED-meme
liked the video anyways :)
I came here just to say I hope you did! Fun vid. For us, anyway.
Yes you can. Now stop causing yourself pain.
JK, I love this
but no pain means no fun!
I cast my vote for more pain.
I say this to him every day
I love how he hate himself
Fun fact! The intro gag is 9 seconds and 12 frames long
that fact is indeed fun
@@alejandrostrass2559 personally, it's the most fun I've had today!
I haven't had this much fun since yesterday
that's just over one frame per second!
12.... frames?
Let’s appreciate that he made a locomotive for a 3 second gag. Then had to sacrifice one inventory space for the remainder of the run to hold it.
You can always put things in a wooden box and then shoot it into nothing
@@DoubleQuadDamage where would he get the wood from? xD
@@kierano8390 any storage works
@@kierano8390 he has a wooden box in his inventory, I’m pretty sure you get one at the start of each game
Thank you for remind us all that it's not a real Factorio run without at least one train-related death.
When in the video does this occur? I can't find it ...
@@MrCanerican 8:21
my initial thought was oh, a ribbon world, that will be fun.
this is not that.
ribbon, more like rug
rug, more like rag
Stamp world
@@Aldrasio Hey, when you beat the session, you can mail it!
1 piece of confetti world
You've heard of SkyBlock, now get ready for WhyBlock!
Don't think Factorio has SkyBlock, but it definitely has SeaBlock, which is horribly complicated, if DoshDoshington's three-part run of it is anything to go by.
Then again, I've been playing Nullius, and that's plenty complicated, too.
@@Roxor128 It's not that bad tbh. Some growing pain in the start from learning bob's inserters techniques, and just standing around and afking until you can proceed but after that it's just let a land fill maker run while you play and you'll have a lotta fun
more like cryblock lmao
@@GeneralZimmer Yeah, mostly agree, except for the part where you need to make 38098203420240981 different builds for all the unique items that are needed. :)
Beans
he almost broke the speedrun world record with this one
Seems like a torture record
Same thing
I consider this the Low% record
A lot of challenge runs in gaming history are interesting to say the least. In Factorio specifically it seems like the challenge runs are focused on "How can you make a run as painful as possible"
Oh factorio, make me suffer MOOOOOORE.
Bro spent 34 and a half days on a 12x9 grid. The next vid better be the largest world where you take over all of it.
Largest would with the ores and oil at the four corners and water in the center.
@@TyroRNG don't give him a monstrous idea like this. He would do it.
@@MrGorgothmadd no shot.
At base movement speed it would take almost 62.5 hours just to reach the edge from the center.
Even if diagonal movement doesn't slow you down and you can do both horizontal and vertical at the same time, just to switch ore would take over five days walking.
@@TyroRNG dude spent a month on this alone. He's crazy enough to do it.
@@MrGorgothmadd he sped up the game, so it’s not actually that long, but that is the in game time it would take.
Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a room. A 12x9 room. A 12x9 room with myself. And myself makes me crazy.
And then myself starts building a freackin rocket
This was painful to watch. I could only imagine playing it for 800 actual hours. Just wow
I could only imagine how small your brain are, if you dont seen speed mod buttons, which speeds game up to 200 times.
@@user-jc6ki7vx3r you had to be rude? Really?
@@user-jc6ki7vx3r do you need a dictionary for christmas or can you figure out what "actual" means in context, all on your lonesome?
@user-jc6ki7vx3r The original comment knows about speedup, it's saying "I cannot imagine doing this without the speedup" basically
@@user-jc6ki7vx3r Maybe try forming actual grammatically correct sentences before insulting other peoples intelligence.
I appreciate the star wars science joke.
Last time I saw this challenge map done with the recursive blueprint mod... in well over 2000 hours, but automatic, no user input needed.
I really want to see this now. I couldn't help but think how interesting that'd be while watching this.
@@LanceThumping I wanted to share the link (it's a YT video), but the automod ate it. So you'll have to search it yourself. :/
@@TheAgamemnon911 Just give me the name?
@LanceThumping you could just search for "recursive blueprint" and it shows up on page 1.
I tried looking for it, but wasn’t able to find it. They might be talking about DaveMcW’s video "13x9 Micro Factory", but that’s on a different map that also doesn’t need mining.
The five logsitic systems of Factorio:
-Belts
-Pipes
-Trains
-Logistic robots
-Logistic Human
How did you get the train to run over you?
Train stop, most likely
@@storijophe1373 The other possibility is get into the train, make train move, get out while pressing the key to go in the direction of the train.
Or use train map and ctrl+lclick to give the train a temporary stop
@@Noiralo Fair enough. Didn't even think of that
I don’t have claustrophobia… but this scares me
DocJade doing charity advocacy for Factorio players on MacBooks here. This is how you maintain 20 UPS 1% lows. That’s right! It’s playable. F to pay respects for MacBook players.
This challenge map is a paradox: the factory must grow, but the factory cannot grow.
Man really spent a month recording this, cheers to him
Top left corner, speed up time mod, understandable tho, who would bear through this
1:56 Barely knowing this game and not knowing what a beacon is, or does, i wholeheartedly support your decision.
You’re a solid homie.
That starwars scroll of crafting history broke me.
You are a crazy person, and I'm here for it.
You really just went at this blind? Seriously? OMG. I assumed this had involved a ton of planning, and knowing how much you need when, etc. But watching it, this does not seem to be the case!
Engineer lands on King Kai’s planet with infinite resources, his task: *Escape.*
Next stop: **HELL.**
HiFl
I did not expect my favourite joke on RUclips to come from a factorio video I told my self was “one last thing before bed” but the Star Wars crawl crafting slapped particularly hard. Congrats on dethroning Tomskas “The Hole” as the favourite of one random RUclips commenter. Truly the pinnacle of comedy awards
Wow what a great video! I already watched all 22 minutes and 51 seconds of it
You're the type of guy who would dig a tunnel wit a toothpick on a dare
I think you can do this in 11x9:
launching a rocket in a silo costs less energy than 4 accumulators can hold, so you can charge them, on the left side with a pole in the middle, and then place the rocket silo next to it, you'll need efficiency modules and a lot more resources, but it's possible. (unless I missed something)
You've just killed the man.
well... shit
EDIT: NOPE! You can craft the rocket, but there isn't enough energy left to finish the reveal animation!
@@DocJade woah, I didn't even know that costs energy xD well, kinda glad I'm wrong here ngl ^^
@@DocJade So I've been cooking a little and managed to launch one using 3 efficiency 3 and 1 speed 4 module, it's still minimum energy but goes 50% faster which is how you barely have enough energy left at the end.
But honestly the biggest problem is logistics, you need so many items and you only have one spot left for a chest.
I fiddled around with having 600 bots carrying them via personal roboports, but it just was barely not enough. Maybe someone with more of a clue on how bots work can figure it out
Edit: it's also absolutely necessary to landfill the water
Edit2: Maybe you can do it by "storing" items in the crafting queue
@@fenny8258 Spidertrons can sort out the logistics issues
One must imagine DocJade happy....
you are insane
Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself
I don't know what's worse. That someone is so masochistically inclined that he plays Factorio on a 7x12 map, or that I watch it?
All joking aside, hats off to you for your performance and perseverance.
Interesting idea
And this is one of the reasons I love the Factorio community
Everyone is always doing something different and pushing the boundaries
Great video
New "easier" challenge: you can only put 1 of any kind of building (maybe even count different tiers as the same).
Since this video exists im goin to asume that yes, yes you can.
800 hours jesus I can't even. You're stronger than any U.S marine
And crazier 😅
No
Source: I am a crayon eater
@sirseven3 Damn sounds like a skill issue on your end
The only people more hardcore than the marines are the seebees.
This video feels like footage of a seebee escaping purgatory to drop anvils on Satan.
WHAT KIND OF UNHINGED MANIAC would spend 828 HOURS just to prove a point?
I've seen several youtube channels do several hundered hour things to prove a point.
who's going to tell him you don't *actually* need a satellite to win?
I know
@@DocJadeYou just wanted to suffer for longer, then.
You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should.
😂
DocJade videos are always crazy and funny to watch, love the random jokes like the star wars crafting menu as well. Bit too heavy on the science queue shoutouts sometimes, explaining builds would be more interesting than going over the science completions
Holy moly. Some dedication even with speed-up mods. Thank you for your effort so we never have to.
This run took more time than I have played Factorio, 706 hours
Oh, so this is what factorio purgatory looks like. My condolences.
"theres this cool thing we can do, and it's called making more of them" pretty much sums up this whole run
This playthrough is a perfect example of "Why? Because I can"
Soo glad to finally see the video out XD nice job
I can't help but feel like the UPS display was just a bit unnecessary here.
This is such an insane challenge, I love it.
When he ran out of *Blue Science*, I felt that, even though I don't even play this gane.
That Star Wars intro joke got a giggle outta me. Take the like.
I love how you kept the FPS counter when it's.. this map.
I had so much fun watching this. Hilarious and interesting at the same time!
This is an incredible run. What a joy to watch!
very high quality video, really glad to see it
That tumbnail is insane, great work!
Round-Earthers will be triggered by this 12x9 world.
Noooooo, I picked C...
My total playtime on this game is just over 20 hours. My mind is boggled by the determination you have to sit in a tiny world making tiny amounts of tiny things, then tearing it all down to make a new tiny factory.
The way that you shorten 24 hours of monotony into a jump cut and three words gives this video the exact same vibes as an OSRS video. I feel like I'm watching Settled 😂
Yooo, ty for new video best factorio youtuber
Cheers to you man it was madness
How do you even take damage with no biters and no need for vehicles and weapons??? Did you blow up a nuclear reactor? Did you waterfill yourself? Did you misclick several times in quick succession while handling grenades for black science?
Train
You must have done somethink really bad to try this. I have mad respect for you.
Maybe a nice idea for a speedrun would be this except that you can fast forward while afking (= standing still with no inputs for > 20 seconds can be counted as afking for this purpose), and the afking doesn't count towards the final time. It will then become optimisation of the time needed to change setups.
I just wanted to mention I laughed out loud at the multiple-choice joke. 😂
the skyblock of Factorio
I think Seablock is closer to Skyblock. And not just because of the name.
@@timothymclean well yeah, now that you mention it LOL
I have watched this video 108 times and can confirm it is indeed a DocJade classic.
I love your challenges
Oh. My goodness. How on earth did you keep your sanity playing this? That's an entire seablock run AND an entire space exploration run combined!
I'd love to see each of the "specialized" 12x9 segments separated by a 1 tile space and connected with logistic networks. Kinda like a computer chip and the robots travel along the wires of the logi networks
Good lord man, most people can barely handle spending 15-20 hours making a single rocket, this is nuts!
challenge idea, beating factorio at x10 speed but much harder biters. try n make a functioning base or smth. thank you so, so much for the subtitles btw
Thanks for doing this so no one else has to. Really, no one should do this... ever.
If we had the alpha boilers (which were 1x1), you should technically be able to do this on an 11x9 platform (steam engine is 2 wide, so you'd still need at least that (you'd also need the old steam engine, cause in those days, steam was just hot water)).
It's very nearly possible with the current boiler, but you wouldn't be able to get the steam out (unless you can rotate a boiler such that some of it is sticking off the map?)
Anyway, nicely done! Excited to see what next self torture, I mean, challenge run, you do next!
Man is the main assembler
The game time in this single world is bigger than any of my play time in my steam library, this is insane!
Watched this while taking a shower. Ended up not skipping any ads. ❤
great vid doc
Is this a new form of torture?
Yep
The amount of time you put into these videos is beyond insane. You deserve millions of views. I salute you, Sir.
Someone: How many hours do you have in Factorio?
DocJade: over 828.
Someone: So you know this game very well?
DocJade: I played it once.
You had great UPS there nice!
I love the intro where the map name is intense button smashing, can relate😂
absolute insanity
on a side note i will hereby beg for a supercut of the million circuits series pls pls pls
lol the green circuit series wasnt recorded in a way where that's possible, while I was making the krastorio series I kept all of the audio files separate so I could make the supercut later :P
So glad someone ELSE did this, cuz i certainly dont want to
"But luckily, it only gets worse!" Sir, are you ok? Blink twice if you need help.
He could have finished space exploration, seablock, or even pyanodons. But he won on a 12x9 world
Looks like a delicious rectangular bowl of sphagett!
Now do the same thing, but with 4 behemoth worms on an island close by, within your range.
what mod / option enables the message telling you when the first science was made?
0:52
I would of just taken your word for it
Actually insane
"Final time, 8 hundred..."
"Fffffuck that"
Nanoseconds
Now I want to see someone fully automate this using one of the automated blueprint mods and a personal roboport
what did you do to at the library? And how was mustard involved?
for fluids like steam and heavy2 lube - did you considered barreling these fluids?
OMG New DocJade vid. Also I will become a member next post
gets a new computer. DocJade: i think i will handcraft everything now
This was done very inefficiently, it should be redone and could possibly save one or two hours.
there should be a speedrun category for this
im fascinated how you can delete all the fun parts of the game and make it still entertaining
Finally, factorio skyblock
