- Olivia Troye served as a homeland security and counterterrorism adviser to Vice President Mike Pence. She was a member of White House Coronavirus Task Force until July 2020. Despite being a Republican, Troye endorsed Joe Biden for president.
The following interview was conducted by FRONTLINE’s Gabrielle Schonder on Jan. 15, 2021. It has been edited for clarity and length. Pence at the end of the day wasn’t thinking about upholding the constitution.....he was thinking about his future career ....he was much more than just complicit...his unending praise of Trump was sickening....I give him no credit

Pence will be president in 2024, partly because Trump will endorse him, mostly because how badly Biden will overreach and make a mess of the country. We're one month into his term and energy prices are already going way up. He's an idiot, but that's a given seeing as he's been a life-long politician.

This interview is by far the most telling and informative and truthful picture of the Trump years I have seen. Olivia Troye is brilliant and a very thoughtful former administration employee. I cannot thank her enough for this interview. The one place I think she held back was when asked about Mitch McConnell and how he dealt with Trump and she gave reasons why he and other republicans said nothing to oppose Trump. There is no excuse for their conduct. No excuse.
Wrong. She literally tried to claim that the federal government is not trying to stiffle speech.

The anger in Olivia Troye's voice through this entire interview is intense. In a way, she's voicing the anger millions of us have felt, since 2016, for all the ways Trump was deliberately destroying all of the most fragile bonds that hold us together as a nation. One of the best political interviews I've ever seen.

The 3 or 4 U.S. banks who loaned Trump the casino money have said they will never loan him a dime, and that includes all U.S. banks since.
Long story short... His survival has been tied to everything Russian! Oligarchs bought his properties, the top Russian mob boss leased/bought the three entire floors in Trump tower directly below Trump's private floors. This man ended up getting arrested for conducting everything from massive sports gambling to drugs and prostitution!
Trump's two sons have admitted that all their golf resorts are due to Russian financing (from the oligarchs.) And Trump had all Russian partners on his Trump Soho building, but they were Russian mob as well and the Russians ended up going to jail and the project also went bankrupt. Look up Felix Sader. (Actual last name was very Russian). He was a partner and the son of the Russian mob investor. Sader went to prison as well.
Then, Trump started getting financing from a Russian controlled German bank called Deutsche Bank. They've been busted twice for huge Russian money laundering operations and charged hundreds of millions!
This is exactly why Trump has bent over backwards being nice to Putin. The very first (and only) thing Trump wanted to do concerning the GOP platform, when he became the Republican choice, was to eliminate ALL Russian sanctions!!! This made no sense. Putin is our enemy. He has lied to the last three U.S. presidents!
Trump also said over and over and over that he had no ties with Russia... He had no business with Russia... He had nothing to do with Russia. That was a lie!!! Four months after Trump was inaugurated, his lawyer, Michael Cohen was caught bring signed contracts to Putin for final approval to build a Moscow Trump tower! He was promising Putin a $50 million dollar penthouse suite to help clinch the deal.
Trump also held the Miss Universe pageant in Moscow in hopes of getting Putin to come, but Putin played hard to get. Which drove Trump crazy!
Now can you see how this can be a really big problem? If our #1 enemy, Putin had money control over our president , it would be easier to get Trump to do favors for him... like when Trump was trying to kill all the Russian sanctions. In that case, smarter Republicans did NOT let that deal go through.
So, there is a lot more to this that you may have read about. And a lot of it DOES in fact point back to Russia! But, not what many people were saying... Trump was never a Russian spy or any thing like that. But, it is all about the Benjamins!!!

I hope they ask her to testify in the Senate trial. I also hope she keeps talking about her experiences within the administration. She’s very good at speaking about the dynamics that were always in play and the level of dysfunction in the White House.
You were assuming that, because it was called a “trial”, there would be it witnesses and evidence presented.
That would have been in line with ”The American Way”, so no one can criticize you as naive.
But they got away with saying they had held trials with no witnesses called or documentation allowed, to the destruction of an important part of “The American Way”.

Wow!!! Phenomenal individual and interview!! This young lady can easily replace so many of our useless congressmen and congresswomen! Her detailed recalling of the Lafayette Square "Bible holding" spectacle, from an insider's perspective . . . that was incredibly chilling. That episode alone should have resulted in an intensive investigation and full impeachment proceedings.

The train was off the track and they rolled with it for political expediency. GOP needs to come clean and start saying the election was not rigged except for pressuring Georgia officials to "recalculate" the vote. Even after this, the GOP has said nothing.
As soon as the GOP heard that Donald Trump was pressuring Georgia officials to recalculate the vote they should have spoken up. In fact Trump's 35,000 lies misstatements have never been addressed by the GOP. If they want to have a party they need to come clean.

I don’t know about that as cnn said 10 did not even vote in 2020 and today msm announced that some of them were with the military. They are still interrogating those they arrested and a trial will be down the road just as they will televise the trial of the police in George Floyd’s death this spring. Have you heard any of Olivia Troye’s earlier interviews or short media pieces with RVAT? She’s been speaking up a long time along with Elizabeth Neumann and Miles Taylor, although not a full hour interview. They tried super hard to get some of the more notable staffers like James Mattis to stand up and speak the truth about Trump, but they remained quiet or cashed in by writing a book about it (like John Bolton).
It’s too bad the whole party doesn’t just rise up and stand together against Trumpism. It’s so ugly.

My only criticism of the interview is that the very nature of a interview is to ask questions. To begin each question (& they were good) with “let me ask you a question” is not necessary & adds unnecessary words & time to the interview. PBS is a national treasure.
I’m so proud of this young woman. She is probably the ONLY person I know that served in the White House (I realize she has a National Security background so I don’t know if she has a party affiliation) that has left based upon what she perceived as the moral failings of the prior Administration AND has been willing to be VOCAL about it. She’s appeared on multitudes of networks and tried to reach all types of voters. God Bless her courage and strength.
