      I flew on RCAF 707’s many times. Including to Lahr. Shearwater was a great airport to depart from. You usually headed out over the Atlantic before heading west to Ottawa or Trenton.

      I started off in the back of the CC-137 and then a few years later they bought in the CC-150's. Big upgrade in comfort and quite. I can't wait for a decent A-330 to make it into MSFS so I can throw this grey livery on it and start doing some CC-330 ops.
      Over the last year I've had the MSFS CC-150 (A310) criss crossing the world recreating real world flights I took to places like Thule, Lahr, Ancona and Nairobi, to name a few. Loads of fun.

      In the next months 2 more Kuwait Airways A330 will be painted up to the Canadian Air Force one of them in a dark blue. You will see all these videos on my channel!.
      This is the first blue CC-330, but the second one is currently in the original Kuwait Airways livery. In about 4 weeks this CC-330 will get the new blue livery of the RCAF.

      @@lookup49 it's the Royal Canadian Air Force by virtue of having the title granted by King George V in 1923, when it was still the Canadian Air Force.
      And as the Royal Canadian Air Force it would reach its peak as the fourth largest air force in the world by the end of the Second World War.
      Later, one yahoo would drop the title with the amalgamation of the various military branches into the Canadian Armed Forces, with the replacement of RCAF with various "commands", before all air units were combined into an "Air Command".
      All that accomplished was to damage esprit de corps, before the title RCAF was re-established almost 50 years later.

Seeing as Canada bought 5 A330 aircraft for the same price as buying 1 new A330, and seeing as they should be able to squeeze another 27-28 years out of them (Kuwait Airlines got them new in late 2015)..new for the military. You have two choices fly a 787 or an older a330.
      Since rcaf already have pilots trained on a330 based aircraft this made sense for them.
      64 meter vs less than 61 meters on the -300 variant.
      Same with the 787 wing span because it’s less than 61 meters.

    This seems to be a pure passenger plane. How do we justify spending so many taxpayer dollars on that, when if we need to move passengers there are tons of commercial alternatives?? My feeling is that for Canada, any large aircraft we purchase for military use should be multi roll. They should be firstly a cargo plane, with real capacity, that can be configured for freight, with large opening cargo bay doors. That same aircraft should have a seating option to convert it for passengers in very short order by sliding in the passenger module. Given that our wilderness is so prone to wildfires now, that aircraft should also be configurable as a water bomber, with a slide in bladder or tank and readily mountable water or fire suppressant dispersal gear. We always seem to end up with a stable of 'one trick ponies' and seldom have what we really need when we really need it. For the Canadian military, I believe we need multi-role equipment.

    • @peterhuffam1006
      @peterhuffam1006 3 месяца назад +1

      Try reading up on what is available for the C130 Hercules. All of those requirements you rattled off exist in US inventory, so we can buy them when we need them. As for general knowledge of aviation transportation, you need to step back and realize that the long range capability of a heavy jet transport cannot be equaled with a tactical transport aircraft while maintaining the versatility that is required of a smaller, VSTOL airframe adapted to rough field operations.
      The A330 is a COMBI airframe, so it can handle longer range freight and passenger duty. It is useless for tactical transport, because that is not what it is designed for.
      If you want a jet that “does it all”, you’re now talking about buying the C5 Galaxy from the yanks. Canada simply does not have the money to support such a behemoth of an aircraft.
      Anyway, all this is moot, as Trudeau doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the Canadian Armed Forces. His old man started the process of destroying our Armed Forces, and the only person who put any money into the operation was Mulroney (who spent $1,000,000,000 on Air Defence weapons the year before the Cold War ended - all those weapons are long scrapped).
      If you actually want to make a difference, get off RUclips and go write your MP, tell them to fund the CF properly.

    • @derekheuring2984
      @derekheuring2984 2 месяца назад

      Why? Every aircraft manufacturer has had its problems of one sort or another and if the RCAF bought Boeing they would have got the 777 which is one of the safest aircraft ever built with no hull losses recorded. The top two safest aircraft in the world are the Boeing 717 and the 777 and three of the top 4 are Boeing. The A330 has been involved in 14 complete loss incidents with 338 fatalities. Don't you want the best for our servicemen and women?

      Supposedly 8 of the 9 will be MRTT (four converted and four brand new) and then the one configured for VIP use. If it's anything like the CC150 fleet, the VIP version will also be used for military uses as needed. I don't think they will be transporting ministers but more so PM, Governor General, Royal Family when they come to Canada etc.

    Thank you, Canada for purchasing the A330 with Rolls Royce Turbine engines. The former British PM Johnson purchased two Dassault Falcon 900 LX for government ministerial travel, which contains ZERO British content.
    Had Johnson purchased the Bombardier Challenger or Global they both contain aero parts manufactured in Belfast, NI, UK. In the case of Global, their turbine engines are Rolls Royce Deutschland. Cheers Canada let's have more fairer and freer trade between Canada and the UK. Let us stop the CHINESE from walking all over Canada and the UK and implement an EQUAL TRADE POLICY. Just say NO to Chinese EVs till we have equal trade.
