    Even without knowing Anderson was there, I knew that No 1 was the one from the beginning. When he turned and pushed Anderson to move, I knew this kid was used to taking charge of things. His walk of confidence and taking over gave it away.

      @merricat3025 you felt sorry for the bears for a good reason.
      "Physical punishment has always been the standard training method for animals in circuses. Animals are beaten, shocked, and whipped to make them perform-over and over again-tricks that make no sense to them. The AWA allows the use of bullhooks, whips, electrical shock prods, or other devices by circus trainers."
      Ignore comments by people who are either unaware of the cruelty or just don't care about anyone but themselves.
      Thankfully circuses with animals are outlawed completely in six states so far and have various restrictions in the other states in the US.
      "More than 45 countries, including India, Italy, Iran, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, and the Netherlands, have already passed laws banning the use of wild animals in circuses."
      Your informed compassion is refreshing.

    • @donnawoodford6641
      @donnawoodford6641 4 года назад +1

      Laura Nolastnamegiven It's hard to know, and we'll never know. NR is not here to confirm what he may have said nor give any explanation. Decades ago, there was a different view about sexual assault. In general, if a woman wore "seductive" clothing, rape was considered her fault. The aggressor may have been tried in court, but the female was seen as part of the problem for choosing to wear something that excited a man sexually. Society later discovered the motive for rape is not sexual desire, but rather desire for power...iow violence. Hopefully, the confusion has been cleared and victims of abuse don't accept the blame for another's actions.

I don’t like circuses and am glad to see that at least here in the states circuses have pretty much disappeared. However, that muzzle is harmless and the bear is not only fine, but, given the circumstances, safer for not being able to bite anyone who might react harshly.

I don't think it has been owned by the Vanderbilt's for a long time. They swindled a lot of their money. Good thing Gloria had connections and could design. Her kids were raised very strangely. They were not treated like they were wealthy, Anderson's older brother, Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, committed suicide on July 22, 1988, at age 23, by jumping from the 14th-floor terrace of Vanderbilt's New York City penthouse apartment I remember my family talking about how strange it was that his mother didn't seem very bothered by it.

      Circuses by the mid-20th Century in the U.S. were mainly for kids - and kids were enthralled by the animal acts. When I was a NYC kid in the 50's and early 60's, a family member took me to Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey several different years at Madison Square Garden - always just one parent or grandparent. Minimal adult participation. The one thing that I did find shocking and disturbing even as an 8 year old was they still had the "Side Show" to walk through before you got seated in the main arena. And yeah, it was a collection of unfortunates identified as "freaks" just standing around like zoo animals. Very disturbing even to my 8 year old self that humans would be put on display like this.

My dad worked around the corner and I was often in attendance watching the tapings. The shows that go back to the early 50s like "What's My Line" were exceptions in the early years as I believe they were broadcast live.

    It's weird that all these future celebs in the entertainment industry first got their big breaks from these old game shows. All of which now makes me feel that none of this was just a coincidence; that the producers really intended to cherry pick "contestants" to bring on to the show who originally signed up for work in the entertainment business.
