HELL YEAH! This is one of the songs where I was waiting for a reaction😎🤘🏻
From the album Firepower 2018
Halford describes Firepower as "some of our best works - without a doubt", praising Faulkner for his contribution. Revolver Nr.6 Best albums of the 2010s
The brand new album. Panic Attack, never heard his voice sound so great. Trial by Fire, a grim and most incredible new favorite. Panic Attack is quite impressive. The new album, best thing since Painkiller
Hey, David. I think you enjoy Demolisher by Slaughter To Prevail and check out the lead vocalist of the band Alex The Terrible his vocals sounds like a grizzly bear. He even has his own RUclips channel, definitely worth checking out.
Totally agree ... thought you were generous, actually!
Speaking of the Painkiller album ... come on guys, more requests for that album, please...
Painkiller has been played to death. It's a good album, but not very exciting or versatile for Priest
@@jans2887 does not matter if it was played ro death in your environment, you can go listen freely any later works if Painkiller bores you but the point is for David here who has not heard anything Painkiller and later to react to songs and as he asked a couple times how rest of songs apart of title track are in Painkiller should take them chronologically i say. Not that he needs check every single song in the album but the most suggested ones at least as highlights before moving to next phase of their discography.
@@jans2887 To each their own. And David hasn't heard it ... Ultimately, it's up to the fans.
Cheers!
there's metal meltdown set for june that he's probably already recorded by now.
Thank you for your reaction. A very fair review, I personally would have reviewed it at a lesser score, more like 6. It' is nowhere near their best.
Saw these guys a few nights back and was quite impressed with their live show. Painkiller and Breaking the Law were in the set list. They have two lead guitars for the show.
Andy Sneap (Their producer) is the other guitarist.
Invincible Shield next!
As a long- time Priest fan, I am admittedly biased, but I subjectively really liked this now six year old album return to their more basic, straight-forward form when it was released. It felt more re-energized, albeit lacking their trademark guitar duo of K.K. Downing & Glenn Tipton and sheer technicality of songwriting.
Their previous few albums that pretty much had me writing them off as obsolete.
I felt a renewed energy which I also think has made it through their current release "Invincible Shield" as the two eldest have survived 70+ years, which I have to admire.
Looking forward to seeing/hearing them live in June this year and hope they can convey the same energy if not the technical prowess.
Right before you said the score, I said the exact same score !!! 😮
This whole album is really good. To be honest I think this title track is one of the weaker songs on the album. The brand new album this year is just as good, Judas Priest still brings it and Halford still sounds great! 🤘
Hey David! I’ve seen you react to many different genres of music on your channel and I was wondering what artists and genres you listen to in your personal life and free time outside of reactions?
Hard Rock/Metal and Jazz/Funk/Soul.
That's fair - I'd put it in the "good but not classic" category. My comparison for feel would be Screaming for Vengeance, though I can see Point of Entry too.
Nice review, nothing wrong with a 7.3 - I know you aren't usually a fan of Music Videos but I wonder if in this case supplying the music video (which is also on their channel) instead of the audio only would have given a little more context as this song is only around 5 years old - so around 25 years after Painkiller (and over 40 years after Victim of Changes).
I loved this album and your reference to Point of Entry was spot on except that album is so slow, like 1/4 time. But I don't care about speed, most people hate Point of Entry but I just saw Priest live last Thursday 5/2/24, and they played Heading Out To The Highway and Turbo Lover which I normally pass over. However they made those songs sound like they were heavy as hell and it was awesome! \,,/
Hi David, this song was a pretty decent Priest song - not bad, but not too impressive. Well... the Firepower ALBUM did revitalise the band, the resurrection of the priest so to speak. The best work in decades. Out of context this song is nothing special, but it works on the album as a whole. A Good opener to start the experience - and not burn all the fire at once and left something for later: there are plenty better songs that may impress you more - Spectre, No Surrender, Flame Thrower and Rising From Ruins for sure. Maybe you will have the pleasure some later time.
Your score was fitting and your reaction was great as usual - you are one of the best there is. Keep on rocking!
Good
Richie Faulkner is on this album. This album came out in 2018 and is solid overall. I don't think any JP fan would choose this song over anything on Painkiller. But I still think this song is a banger and enjoy it for what it is. But no, definitely not an 8 or 9. Although they have made a good amount of solid music after Painkiller, they've never come close to touching those heights again. But oh you've got a surprise coming your way when you get to my request for Burn in Hell and you hear JP without Halford. Can't wait to see your reaction to that one! 🤘🏼
The last two albums are just as good as Painkiller, but more diverse
I enjoyed DH playing way more than JP 😂
The torch has been passed to Richie Faulkner, Glenn still writes some riffs but I don't think he can do much more. As far as the song goes, it's one of the weaker songs on a fantastic album.
I don't any Judas Priest fan would put this above most of thr songs on Painkiller. However, this is a good song and a good change up. Im sure youve heard metal meltdown by now off of painkiller. That one proabably got you back on track.
I agree overall with the score. 7.3 is solid for a good song. However, I do disagree about the passion level and drive. I think the major difference is the drumming and halford being older, but his singing and passion in the chorus is intense. and I think the chorus riff is driving and cutting and slightly thrashy.
Not really you need to take into consideration their age everyone in the band is pushing 70s the fact that at 70 years old they can make this kind of music is beyond imagination. Tell me one single band that has this longevity. The band is active since 1969 fcking almost 60 years. After 60 years of music coming with smth that it’s still insane is highly unlikely. Saying “good but not a classic” is kinda childish. Nobody said Painkiller is a classic when it was released. Let’s talk about this album after 15 more years and then talk about classics. But that’s the thing with elitist metalheads they cannot be pleased no matter what. If the sound and style didn’t change you would have said they aren’t evolving and they are boring. Now that they changed a bit (99% due to age) you call them out for changing and bring into discussion an album released almost 35 years ago. I repeat let’s talk again when this album is at least 15-20 years old and then dare to speak about classics
I know I haven't joined the Heretic club yet, just waiting on the big check.
I gotta feeling people are begging u to play Panic Attack from the brand new album.
Iron maiden albums in the last 17 years would be a 1 then. No matter your taste in metal no way in living hell hqs maiden even come close to this type of metal.
Well have in mind that youre comparing this to an album that came almost 30 years prior ..
Man, you gotta finish the entire Painkiller album before you skip ahead but oh well. I actually like the new album Invincible Shield better than the Firepower album.
6.0 my score
Judas Priest is more metal than any other band 🤘
Still getting that metal meltdown reaction?
Actually that song is not in the que.
@@THEDavidHeretic oh dam o thought I saw it on last months list of songs sorry
Just remembered, it's coming out June 4th.
@@THEDavidHeretic hell yeah thx man
Yes, they have had some great songs, but not this one, imo
First time hearing this song. I heard a lot more 5 and 6 moments in this song. Not many 7s in there.
Fine? It's perfect song 💪😊 I think, you're Maiden fanboy 😅
Lightning Strike is little more impressive and fast paced...One of the guitars are Richie but second guitar no one know...Can be Glenn or the producer and current touring guitarist Andy Sneap...There was some drama but trying to stay away from that...I think this album is throwback to the old era Judas Priest before Painkiller/Ram it Down but with more modern sound. Painkiller album is unreachable because K.K's is not in the band and Glenn cant play to...There is one more thing Glenn technic and playstyle is different compared to Richie and Sneap and cant be reached same is for K'K...
The songs ok but sounds a lot like Iron Maiden to me, i prefere the earlier stuff still.
