    The Miyota and ETA true GMT movements will revolutionize the GMT watch market

    Bulova makes nice watches. I have three Bulovas already, the Lunar Pilot, the Oceanographer and the Accutron Spaceview II.

    Bulova can do it! When they decide to, that is. If only they could erase the avalanche of vulgar dreck from their over-all catalog, they could take their rightful place in the watch community.

    These are nice watches but I wish Bulova would make smaller watches. I had a Wilton, nice watch loved the dial. Did not like the size for my wrists. Particularly for a dressy watch it was just too big. I know some people love bigger oversized watches. And on dive style watches I actually don't mind a 42mm watch. But I wish they would make more 36-40mm sized watches. This looks nice but I know just like my Wilton it would be too big for me.

    Fantastic to see affordable true GMTs becoming a thing. Great job, Bulova. However, a 43mm dress watch is not something that I'll ever even remotely consider wearing. The positioning of the date window clearly indicates that the movement inside would allow for a 38/39mm case, which would be far more tempting.
    Btw, I'm really excited about some AliExpress brands like San Martin getting their hands on this movement.

    Citizen does make ''True GMTs'' in the Eco Drive line. They need to make a True GMT for the Precisionists line I know those are quartz but imagine the smooth sweep with a rotating 24 lumed bezel.

    • @tiagodvt
      @tiagodvt 2 года назад

      They have some models that are kind of true gmts. But they only change the hour hand to one direction, the other changes the day. So it would only be effective if you were traveling to a country where the time were ahead of yours.
      I personally don't care the kind of GMT. I own two, a true and a caller/office and I like both. The truth is that I don't travel and just use the GMT hand to tell the time of a country where some of my relatives live. Rarely, if ever, I change the GMT time. So..I would say that the callers are even better in this scenario, easier to adjust the date when the movements goes out of "juice".
      But if you are actually using a GMT for travelling, a true GMT is obviously better. But the truth is that setting a caller would take less than a minute. It's effective as well.

      @@tiagodvt I agree I own one of the Diver's GMTs I hate the fact you can't set the hour hand backwards like you mentioned. When I first tried the ''True GMT'' feature, I noticed sometimes when the hour hand got around the 5/6 o'clock hour the date started to change, and I would than need to set the date by turning the crow the opposite direction. But then again what's the point of having this feature when the date starts changing 5 1/2 hours early. It doesn't always happen which is a good thing.

    I like Bulova, bought my wife a quartz w/ sapphire crystal since she's hard on her watch, she loves it. I agree w/ Chris, 6:55 Bi-Directional 12 hr dive like that Accutron would be a killer watch and I would hands down buy it. Also @WatchChris , Miyota 9000 series gets a High beat movement, 28,800 bph? It was hard to tell from the video, but it looked like it.

    3 Time zones? Oh yeah! I lucked and got one of the last Zelos with the 9075 & the blue meteor dial….$629.00 USD …it was their most expensive watches in this particular series (Mako III GMT) It’s a chunk but….not 30 M……..300 M and my 1st fully adjustable clasp. You reviewed this very watch Chris. BTW, double domed sapphire & gorgeous. One of my favorite in my collection. Fixed inner bezel and a lovely rotatable outer bezel, both 24 hour bezels & making

    Exciting times for traveler's GMT. The Bulova is typically huge, but those lugs look like they turn way down, which makes that 49mm L2L not bad.

  • @tsujimasen

    If only the blue dial reflected light as well to the naked eye as it does to the camera. I went with the white dial because it gets hard to read the indices on the blue dial in varying situations.

    Lovely designs. But as is too typical from Citizen and any of the brands they own, the case is just too big. Bulova in particular seems to have an allergy to releasing anything in with 40mm or smaller cases.
    Give this model 6-12 months and I'd bet they're offered at a steep discount.
