    The issue with all these sorts of devices is that they have "hit and run" written all over them. Things will probably work at the start then gradually slow down / stop as there is no recurring revenue coming in to the company to encourage them to keep it running. Or they just get straight up shut down.

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  4 месяца назад +1

      I guess that's always going to be an issue. Tanggula do seem to have been around for at least a couple of years but you do have to wonder how long the industry will let them operate for.

      Even if the service shuts down its not a brick. You know you can always download an IPTV service. Of course you will have to pay monthly but there is a shit ton of cheap services.

      I did a review on this crappy box. The firmware is old, my network jack didn't work and the box is WAY overpriced. It's basically a T-95 box with a 1-year subscription plan. You would be better off getting $40 box and installing the IPTV service of your choice. That's cheaper, and you'll be getting a box with the updated Android operating system.

    • @bigbadjohnpesek9894
      @bigbadjohnpesek9894 Месяц назад +1

      Thats what I have been trying to tell people. The upfront costs of buying a box and installing an IPTV service is way less than half the cost of one of these boxes. That's what I've been doing for years. And my service has two connections so I only need two cheap boxes and I get TV in my livingroom and my bedroom.

      @@bigbadjohnpesek9894 My plan comes with 4 connections. So I can use my Android phone and tablet, and two TV's in my house for $25 bucks a month. Way better than this crap. My service is so good, they are not accepting any new customers right now because they don't want to compromise the quality of their service by overloading their servers. SMART PEOPLE. 🙂

    The S905X4 is commonly found in a lot of chinese emulation boxes which are just these android tv boxes with Botacera or Emuelec or another frontend installed and a bunch of roms added. You should do a vid on buying the 40 dollar identical box and making it into an emulation box that can play even a lot of mame games too. Basically it's just an sd card that auto boots into the emulation when it's plugged in and when removed it goes back to a tv box. Some of the better ones have a 2.5" hdd inside and that's where these tv boxes really start to shine for emulation use.

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the feedback. I did a project using Emuelec on a TV box last year I think. Worked great as a retro gaming system.

    Are those mostly just IPTV channels? Those are 100% legal and free to stream. Looks like some kind of Kodi addons too. Those can be grey area.

    I wouldn't have the patient for this! Way to slow in loading. The voice feature is a plus though for searching for a movie or TV show.
    I use this on my Roku a lot. Since you have to tie into your Internet provider, isn't this a problem?

      Yes. I'd advise some sort of VPN if you decide to use these devices. I'm not sure how the ISPs view them.

    For that kind of money, you can get an nvidia shield. Much better processor, solid unit and true google tv allowing for fully working Netflix and other streaming services as they are on a white list.
    Personally, in 2024, I would want to go for a new google tv dongle (2024 model) as they are less than £100 although, if nvidia brought out a new shield, I would jump on it like my life depended on it.
