Leaving this here just in case you don’t see the Patreon comment but Jay accidentally dropped that he’s never played fallout 4 and I need that to be a streamed game. I don’t care how chaotically he plays, that’s the fun of fallout!!!
I second this. People like to shit on 4 but it was a fun game.
I think it was in the last fallout episode, but he did mention he was starting to consider it for the stream. I think it would be a lot of fun. Someone also said in the comments they wanted him to try 76 now that it got an update, but fallout 4 would probably be better (especially since it’s getting a remaster).
they are also releasing a next-gen update in literally 2-3 days, so this would be the PERFECT time for Jay to cause some chaos.
I know Jay would go nuts for all the cool power armor and base stuff
I feel like I’ve seen this comment on a different fallout video for some reason
I just learned today the actress who plays Betty is the blind lady in Deadpool. She’s having a year!
Blind Al? !
They should have told her they were looking for the cure for blindness next to all the cocaine.
Leslie Uggams. She was in a few things in the 70s and 80s (most famously Roots), then she kind of dissapeared until Deadpool. Great to see her getting notice again.
Ok this is really funny to me because I feel like the guy who plays Chet had kind of a Ryan Reynolds vibe in this episode too.
"Everyone wants to save the world. They just... disagree on how." is honestly one of my favorite lines from the show. It sums up the universe of Fallout perfectly.
Sums up life
Some people just define the world as themselves
You're thinking of Rad-X, pills that give you rad resistance.
You can't pick up any boxes in Fallout, and put them in your inventory. It's a beautiful Easter Egg, not a silly mistake. The Ghoul is doing EXACTLY what the player would do.
I was wondering the same thing but if that’s true that’s genius 😂
A player (of FO3 -up) loads everything into a corpse, chops a head or limb off, carries that to the door, then loots all, goes through the door, and drops the overburden to pick up later. Or acquires another limb to load and carry.
My thought as well.
@@thoriated200 IQ play
That makes sense. Also a drug binge doesn't always follow logic.
The leather piece on her shoulder is more likely to butt up against a rifle butt (shoulder saver) rather than a pauldron for armor
Definitely for a gun stock and not for shoulder armor
And I'm pretty sure that, given the materials involved, it'd be *super* uncomfortable to wear for any extended time if it's not placed correctly. Even if she didn't know anything about how that kind of leather strap is supposed to be worn, she'd have figured it out once the chafing started to set in.
To answer Adam's question, there was a pill called "Rad-X" that you would take to reduce the amount of radiation accumulated. Rad-Away is for getting rid of the radiation you already have.
Dogmeat is more like a label than a name. There are no pets in the Wasteland, dogs are meat (they even had a dogmeat vendor in Filly).
So it's more like the Wasteland version of pup, or buddy, or doggo.
It's like how Geralt names every horse Roach, every dog is "dogmeat"
so sad :(
It’s also a reference to the movie “A Boy and his Dog” which inspired Fallout and features a scene of the boy calling his talking dog Dog Meat
One city does not dissolve the whole of the NCR, they exist in many places not just shady sands
Yeah, especially with the sign saying that Shady Sands was the “First Capital of the NCR.”
Does hurt that we lost the capital and prez Tandies home town but yeah. The hub, boneyard, vault city, probably Arroyo. Maybe part of the Mojave. The bear is still out there. I am concerned how little we do see of the ncr though.
Complication: there are cattle barons, and the sheriff got nuked. Not saying it's a quick death; just a plausible one.
That’s exactly what Todd Howard said too, the NCR is more than shady sands
@@tsmith8082Todd Howard does not have the best record at being a reliable source of information.
“The blue is attracting my eye” haha it’s ok to say that Ella Purnell is hot
The hottest furby you'll ever see
@@koki84ji7Oh god she DOES have Furby eyes!
Norm has the best story of the series. I love the mysteries of the Fallout games.
"I hate it up here!" Is one of my favorite moments! She already knew it was horrible up here, but this was the final straw for her to finally not sugar coat.
And honestly, it really worked for me. At this point she's a survivor. She probably feels like she can finally have some control on the surface, but then that happens. Two people dead because they wanted to eat her. Practically an unavoidable situation.
It was pretty cute that Jay asked Adam if Adam likes Jell-O as if Adam has ever liked any food ever..
It's Vault 4, you can see the ppl walking about with the #4 on their back.
I think Maximus and Lucy are good examples of opposites who were raised in the wrong environment. Maximus was the one who was best suited to grow up in the vault while Lucy would have thrived growing up in the Wasteland, but instead the opposite happened and really explains why they are the way they are.
We had a D&D game back in the day where two half orc characters were trying to divide treasure. They argued for a good hour about whether or not the box was part of the treasure.
The radiation pills you guys were almost remembering is Rad-x!! it raises radiation resistance but doesn't cure it in the games, so the only way to cure it is Rad away
Think you are the only reactors Ive seen so far for this episode that noticed the Battle Hymn of the Republic kick in when Lucy and Maximus officially teamed up. Was such a nice touch.
"...the head's still in the wind..." The world needs more wacky TV so sentences like this can exist.
Norm = short king indeed! He ended up being my favorite character from the show. Loving yall's reactions as always, I never can wait for the next one to come out!
Y'all would think that, but honestly designing a weapon platform with bo way to get out of it without help is one of the most Eisenhower era weapons design things ever 😆
"Those T-45s got a lot of good boys killed"
Norms story grew on me a lot. I'm a sucker for digging deep into Vault lore, and he checks so many boxes.
Norm, Moises Arias, is 4 foot 11 inches. He just turned 30 last week! Happy Birthday. I remember him most from Ender's Game as Bonzo Madrid, the one Ender kills in showers.
I had no idea he was in Enders Game.
I'll have to look up what a lot of these actors have been in because they're all doing a great job.
I recognised him from Ender's Game. Such a different character here.
@20:30 the first 2 fallouts had people farming and manufacturing things. One of the missions in FO2 was to steal plans from the Enclave so the BOS could make their own vertibirds.
"Its not fallout" referring to not being able to leave power armor
I have gotten a bug over 7 times in fallout 4 where I could not leave power armor no matter what. the input was just...nothing. I would have to reload a save to get out.
So not being able to leave power armor is actually pretty fallout to me on a personal level lmfao
Everyone's debating the efficacy of Jello cake, and no one's asking where they're GETTING all the Jello.
Anyone know what Jello's made out of?
Gelatin is rendered collagen, made by boiling skin, sinew, cartilage, and bone. Maybe that "Compost" room makes Soylent Green / corpse starch / Cram.
There are mods for FO4 Contraptions DLC that make potted meat from corpses. Turn those settlement raiders into sellable goods.
Bones.
It's a failsafe in case the wrong person gets inside the powered armor.
Lucy trying to de-escalate encounters reminds me of my Ewok Jedi Councilor in an RPG I'm in. He always tries to parlay and avoid an altercation. So far its worked only once. :)
The actress who plays Betty also plays Bind Al in Deadpool.
I couldn't believe how long it took me to figure that one out. Probably the lack of swearing and the fact that you can see her eyes.
I only recognized her from her voice lol. She's great in this tough.
This has been commented on every single video.
@@Tensen01 people like sharing information. Look up XKCD's 1 in 10,000. It might be old news to you, but chances are it's new information to 10,000 other people.
The "Blue" has attracted his eye. SUUUUUURE Adam. Sure.
You can definitely get out of power armor without a fusion core in game but because Maximus is a squire, I'm assuming he has no clue how to do so in the show despite being someone who seems to know a lot about the T-60 set.
As the ghoul says, “Read the manual”
InGame there's Rad-X which increases your resistance to radiation, meaning you take less damage from it and it irradiates you slower, there's RadAway which removes radiation and then the regular Stimpaks.
Never would’ve thought about the joy it would bring me for Adam to subtly reference So I Married An Axe Murderer, but here we are 🤣❤️
CX404 is the dog's name.
The NCR didn't get dissolved, one of their capitals (Shady Sands) is what he's talking about not working out, probably why we don't see them in this area but probably some remnants.
The NCR has hundreds of thousands of citizens under its umbrella and numerous major cities/hubs under their control so they are still very much out there doing their thing.
You haven't factor Legion, Brotherhood, Raiders, Mafia remnants. They may take that opportunity to cause havoc.
We hope. However considering this show doesn't mention the Shi in San Francisco I think Bethesda is using the show to reset the west coast to their standard tin shacks and irradiated water setting instead of the post post apocalypse setting (with society rebuilding) of New Vegas.
@markcarpenter6020 nah man, they've already confirmed the NCR is very much a thing and going.
I don't get why people keep saying this nonsense when there is literally nothing that gives that idea at any moment lol.
Time still moves forward when we're not playing the games, squabbles happen, people die and factions can crumble or thrive.
We already see that with each new game installment.
Edit: everywhere and everything is susceptible to that, even New Vegas.
@@mybedissoft then it makes even less sense that there is no major NCR presence in the show. The show takes place in what was literally the heart of the NCR. And the NCR was friggin huge it included all of southern California and parts of Mexico and Nevada. It had a population of 700 000 people, clean water, electricity, industry, a working train system, and merchant companies with branches as far away as Utah. It makes no sense that in 15 years (the time between new Vegas and the show) all of that would just vanish.
@markcarpenter6020 what are you even on about?
How does that make even less sense? 'Cause I'd love to know what mental gymnastics you've gone through to deduce that being the case..
You clearly don't know much about storytelling or narrative progression, you're argument is akin to those nitpicking tiny details and saying they've retconned FNV.
And if I have to sit here and walk yet another clueless Fallout fan through it, ya shouldn't be complaining in the first place.
It's straight up woeful ignorance or even worse, pure stupidity if you think that because we don't see the NCR have a major presence in an area that they very obviously got slapped around and lost.
The NCR is spread all across the West Coast, with more than one major hub, diverting resources and manpower elsewhere to facilitate their needs.
How do you come to the conclusion that the hub with 30,000 residents is the "heart of the NCR"?
Shady Sands may have been where they started but it certainly isn't their only capital city.
You wanna know what doesn't make any damn sense? The NCR continuing to operate or returning to an area where they got slapped around, having the major hub in the area obliterated by a bomb with a very large Brotherhood of Steel presence in that same area no less, what do you want? The NCR to dust off their shoulders after getting bombed and say "nah, we're all fine here"?
The NCR ain't that stupid man lmao.
I don't know what stupid juice you're drinking but I'd put it down before making comments like you've got it figured out and know all about what's going on lmao.
The show literally feeds us clues on a silver platter and somehow you come to conclusion that "because the NCR in this area got blown up, the entire NCR is gone"..
We see clear signs of remnants of the NCR active in the show, in Vault 4, the guy wearing ranger armor scavenging for his family and with the likes of Moldaver, who are obviously the bulk of the NCR that resided in the area, showing us that the ones that were in this area are very much scattered and unorganized unlike the rest of the NCR.
They ain't gone and Todd even came out and had to further clarify that due to people like you not being able to make sense of something that definitely makes sense.
"We've not seen the last of the NCR".
The NCR is my favorite faction but you don't see me sitting here, jumping through hoops to try and invalidate what we're shown because despite my own gripes with not seeing the NCR, I'm well aware that things aren't cut and dry like you seemingly think they are.
Let the people telling the story, tell the story and stop coming to assumptions that hold absolutely no validity behind them.
Edit: if this is how some Fallout fans think, no wonder we are made the butt of jokes all the time. Ya'll can't use your damn heads even with information blatantly shown. 🤣
Edit: do yourself a favor and stop displaying how little you actually know when trying to make arguements against the narrative we've only scratched the surface of.
The key Thaddeus used locked Maximus into the armor, then he lost power when the core was pulled. If he'd just pulled the core, Maximus could have left it himself.
There's nothing in the lore about that. And how did Lucy get him out, if she didn't have the key?
I don't think that's true at all. Why would the key also lock him in? Seems like an extremely easy exploit. Either the creators of the suit skipped over that, as we do hear first-hand about the design flaws. Or Maximus, who had absolutely zero training with it, just didn't know how to open it manually.
Excellently written. The whole themes of how messed up the surface is with the buildup of how something nefarious is going on in Vault 33 only to end with 2 out of 3 of our main characters in a Vault with the pretense of it actually being safe. Only to segway into the events of the following episodes.
Also loved Severance and Zach Cherry. He and Emmerson were some of the casting reasons why I was so excited for the show. Also Goggins of course. It's an ensemble but it's good to see him in such a complex leading role.
Chet's actor is 5'9", Norm's is 5'1"
Holy crap, a Batboy the Musical reference?! lol LOVED that show!
The dog's name is CX404 I think, it's what's written on the collar in we are introduced to it in the opening of Ep2.
No one ever mentions how Lucy says the worst thing you can do in the vaults is forget to say "thank you," then minutes later, we see Norm *intentionally* not say it to the new overseer. He's practically declaring war against her.
Omg I NEED you to do Severance!!! I don’t care if Jay has already seen it. ADAM. YOU MUST.
That definitely isn’t vault 31. Look how far the party has travelled from vault 33 which is linked to 31
4:07 I wonder if the "emergency suit escape" is part of proper knight training, which Maximus would definitely not know
One of the things about Maximus is what the Ghoul told him. "Read the manual." I don't think Maximus has read the manual, but I'm pretty sure there would be a release from the inside lol
There might be a manual release but remember that Maximus wasn't trained for the armor. He was surprised when he first saw the boosters deploy by accident. If there's a way out he most likely wouldn't have known. That being said the Fallout world has plenty of dark moments, there's a chance there isn't a manual release xD
Nobody said ANYthing about the NCR not working out. That leap of logic has caused a lot of internet drama over the week haha. Maximus merely said Shady Sands didn't work out. The NCR spans states, one small town of 34k being wiped out would be a small blow, but would only serve to piss off the Bear.
20:05 you were asking about commerce , and whether people still manufactured stuff and traded. They did, but everything was on a much smaller scale than it was before the war obviously. Settlements traded with each other, so neighbouring towns and outposts. Tribes would have traded with each other. Out west you had the NCR which built a large country and traded in the area as well, so business as usual did continue in that regard, but just on a much smaller scale. Groups like the Brotherhood and the Enclave manufactured all their own equipment for the most part, but they didn't trade with anyone and operated as self contained military institutions.
The NCR was actually pretty major. They had a working train system as well as clean water and electricity. Also the trading companies (like crimson caravan and gun runners) traded across several states from California to Utah even out into the legion lands. That's why it's so weird there isn't an NCR presence in the show. Heck they don't even have the Shi that lived in San Francisco. I seriously think Bethesda is using the show to reset the west coast back to their standard tin shacks and dust farmers.
There is definitely production still happening in the Fallout universe, mostly by the major factions like the NCR and Brotherhood. The first thing that comes to mind is Jet, which was created in the NCR post war, and you can find throughout the entirety of the US. I know that there are some packaged food products that also have post war dates on them, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.
Some factions even created their own currency, again, like the NCR dollar.
There's plenty of smaller insulare communities that create products for themselves like the Fallout 4 Institute.
After 200 years, some form of mass production is going to have started again.
Gun runners were a major weapon manufacturer.
Omg the “Apology to a Cow” drop BODIED me.
The internet fury is that New Vegas takes places a few years after this and in that game Shady Sands was the NCR headquarters and it hadn't been destroyed at that point. So it's a retcon. Shady Sands was destroyed in 2377 here and still existed in 2383 in the game. Something like that.
8:43 so There was it was called rad-x.
Rad away removes radiation
Rad-x increases rad resistance
The pills were Rad-X and they increased your rad resistance, but would not decrease your rad saturation.
I think The Ghoul was delusional at the end of the last episode. He hoarded all of the vials in his hat out of instinct without thinking about it, but i could see him properly storing everything away when he was well enough to leave.
Jay totally into these series and just fully immersed is literally all of us when we binged Fallout after it came out. He's almost like "shut up Adam, I dont want to react I want to watch" 😆 (which i totally get, its what this show does to you)
I always get so excited when y'all post something
Same! I always dropped whatever I was watching immediately without questions haha
4:07 In the game you are supposed to be able to get out of the armor even if there is no power.
Betty's words about the pip boy are hitting different now.
Right? Really hits different.
Wait, Jay did the Helldiver 2 theme salute?
As I was watching the episode for the first time, I was literally like “can’t wait to watch this with cha-boys” Love you guys keep it up with the fantastic content 🎉
For me, episodes 1, 2 and 3 were introductory episodes, they took the time to let us get to know the characters and that is so so so important and so many shows these days just don't do that, they don't give us time anymore to get to know our protagonists. 4 is where it really kicks off with Norm and Chet discovering the chaos of vault 32 and Lucy becoming a Wasteland survivor, and now it's just banger episode after banger episode! I am so excited and so happy this show is so, so good!
I was inspired to make Fallout Jello Cake. I did a almond sponge cake with cherry jello mold on top, with whipped cream and it was super good.
The tone shift in this episode is so well done
The NCR thing is one of the major complaints of fans. The NCR was massive. It covered all out souther California and parts of Mexico and Nevada. They had electricity, clean water, working trains. They had industry like the gun runners and trading companies that traded over several states including Utah and Nevada and all the way out into legion territory. So the NCR having zero presence 15 years later is a really big stretch. Almost as big as the enclave (which had been pretty much wiped out on both coasts) suddenly reappearing as a major faction.
Definitely leading to that no group is as it seems all have secrets
Love Adam's low key prediction for episode 6 about the sex thing XD
Just to answer the curiosity: the actor who plays Chet (Dave Register) is 6'3", while the actor who plays Norm (Moises Arias) is 5'1".
I think the pad is way it is on her outfit because it's a recoil pad. To absorb the recoil when shooting a high power weapon.
"cant we ever get....Like a Salad or something"
As someone who finished fallout can not wait for they 2 to get to end.
Yes! I'm just as disappointed as they are they had to stop lol
The last 2 episodes are maximum crazy stupid fucking fine...
I think they probably do have a manual release on T60 armor, but remember he hasn't been trained in its use.
Eye patch + power = Bond villain
15:03 Maximus is really good with the pistol 🧐
when he's outside the armor, yes
For the record, Rad-X is the PILL that increasing rad resistance in-game. Radaway is the IV medicine that removes rad build up.
Wait…..did Adam Editor really just drop a “emmereffer” in there??? Awesome 😂
"This episode was not sufficient. I am so furious that we have... I... ge...." 🤣🤣🤣
It's funny Jay guessed that they were cannibals, since they weren't in the games.
Yes stuff is still very much being made: Jet is a post war chem, the gunrunners build new guns with schematic and old world machines, The hub manufacturing, I think Aroyayo does stuff, The capitals wasteland exports aqua pura,
You guys doing a severance reaction with jay knowing and Adam not would be high quality entertainment
Aside from the tv-show that’s pretty popular, I’d really recommend the horror-comedy of the same name; it’s from the era of ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and follows an ‘Office-Space’-like cast whose work-outing goes horribly wrong.😏
Don’t think I’ve ever been more freaked out by a mashed potato conversation.
The show does sublime off-kilter terror so well! Never have mashed potato's been more terrifying.
and apparently, after the previous episode's awkward situation, chet indeed replaced bert as stepfather to stephanie's baby and nobody questions it 😄
@@vinsanity40k "I *am* Bert." (What was I thinking?)
XD
I'm assuming there is a way to get out of the armor while its unpowered but Maximus wasn't trained for the suit he just put it on
19:17 I heard this takes place between New Vegas and the rest.
Power is on in a lot of buildings as many have their own power sources.
OMG…you need to do a reaction to Severance!
It weebles, and it wobbles,
it's Jello Cake! And,
it don't fall down.
That jello is probably made from dead bodies. Where else are they getting the bones for the gelatin? Just about everyone in Fallout is a cannibal whether they realize it or not.
They shoulda had Zach Cherry playing with a finger trap at some point in this show, as a cool nod to Severance 😉
Amazimg series that will make you play or replay the games!
12:21 Interesting theory! I did not pick up on that.
12:36 great social commentary! 🤣
17:04 Isn't Apple Pie the most American thing there is? so why are people preferring something else?
“Nope, air-lock her.” got me good.
There is a way to get out of the armor with no battery... But Maximus wasn't trained how to use it, so he's trapped because he's dumb lol
Yeah just hold the interact button. Easy.
Okay no spoilers for the show... in one of the games they say Shady Sands wws the first capital. And the sign alludes to that as well. I assume the NCR will have a much larger force somewhere in season 2. Its just not possible to green light a fallout show and right off the NCR off screen. Its impossible.
We have to get sick NCR Ranger action. We right if not.
it would suck to get stuck in that armor. I would be SO claustrophobic. Too bad they didn't install a button or something in the helmet you could pull on with your teeth to open the front-just to get some air at least!!!
duster of holding lol cheers guy blessed be..
How are people feeling about Jello cake? Both of those things are good on their own, together it makes my spine curl 😅
Y'all know Betty is Al from Deadpool right?
He had to put all the vials into his hat, because otherwise he never would have heen able to dramatically spill them on the floor when he saw his own movie .... .... 😆
The dog is CX404
Imagine the buzz if they dropped one ep a week. Kinda think they should have, but also might have gone nuts waiting week-to-week.
4/23/24 Another banger of an episode 9.0/10.
