Wedding dresses used to be passed down within families, so I see why Jay appreciates the community wedding dress. It's a way to bond with the past.

After I first saw the scene of Maximus being interrogated, I thought to myself, if Disney wanted to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang, Aaron Clifton Moten would be a great choice.
The performance in that scene was so excellent. I really didn't know if he did that to his friend or not.
dane is an even greater friend than most realize. they were maximus' only friend and their promotion would leave maximus completely alone. they sacrificed their ambition so that maximus could thrive away from that environment.
The way his whole voice and demeanor changed over the course of three lines in that interrogation scene gave me chills.

Buddy, in THIS reality passing wedding dresses down to daughters or cousis exists too 😂 Many families does it since wedding dresses are expenssive as hell and you wear them only once so for some people it’s just a waste of money to buy new one every single time. We have three dresses whitch come from generation to generation in my adopted family - they’re in excellent shape, each bride changes or adds something so they’re personalized but the base is still the same.
It was even more common in the past, especially after Queen Victorious popularized the whole concept of a “white wedding” with a fancy white ball gown and a big cake made with refined white sugar. But even then, that was mainly a tradition observed by the nobility and wealthy class, as textiles and clothes were much more expensive than they are now , because while machine sewing and mechanized looms to weave fabric were common, a person still had to cut, assemble, and stitch that garment together. And that’s not even counting embellishments like lace, embroidery, or beading, which would have all been done by hand (and in many cases still is done by hand today in sweatshops where workers earn Pennies an hour for their work). Working class brides wore their Sunday best or had a communal or family gown that was likely adjustable to account for the different measurements and proportions of brides so things could be taken in or let out as needed.
White sugar was also more expensive because it required extra processing to get that fine crystal structure. Regular folk would’ve used unprocessed cane sugar, which has a more beige/tan color and bigger grains, or even brown sugar, molasses, or honey to sweeten baked goods as they were cheaper.
The Brotherhood began on the West coast. The DC branch travelled from there to DC.
Then the DC branch had a "fallout" and was kicked from the California branch
Then Arthur Maxson fixed everything.

They continued the real brotherhood mission and it wasn't until Elder Lyons died and Arthur Maxon became elder that they mended the relationship and rejoined the larger brotherhood
@@shoot646 Though the eastern brotherhood was still different, at least in new vegas vs Fo4. Far more aggressive, unified and territorial. The west coasters were divided into chapters and were insular while the east coasters were empire building, actively recruiting outsiders and also focusing on wiping out the mutants and ghouls.
It looks like they've united under the eastern doctrine now, which would explain why the NCR is on the backfoot.
@@simonbarabash2151 that was Lyon's doing, we was part of the western brotherhood and he went off script to help locals and hunt super mutants. That's why the outcasts split, they still held the Western Brotherhood's ideals. It was Maxon that brought the outcasts back into the brotherhood and got them back on task. They're still just a detachment of the same brotherhood as in the west.

- October 23, 2077 - The Great War, day the bombs dropped.
- Year 2102 - Fallout 76, Survivors from Vault 76 reenter the wilderness of West Virginia.
- Year 2161 - Fallout (1997), The Vault Dweller leaves Vault 13 and travels through Southern California
- Years 2197-2198 - Fallout Tactics, The Warrior battles for the Midwest
- Year 2208 - Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel (2004), is thought to take place in Texas though it is unclear
- Year 2241 - Fallout 2, The Chosen One wanders through California, Oregon, and Nevada.
- Year 2277 Fallout 3, The Lone Wanderer searches through the remains of Washington D.C. for their father
- Year 2281 Fallout New Vegas, The Courier is on a quest for revenge in the deserts of Nevada, Arizona, and California
- Year 2287 Fallout 4, The Sole Survivor has escaped their vault into the Commonwealth, formerly Massachusetts
- Year 2296 Fallout the Show, The wilds of California are set on a course for chaos with the actions of Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul

Just fyi, the Brotherhood of Steel game isn't canon at all, especially since it contradicts a lot of stuff in the games that came before it.
And with Tactics, it's sort of up in the air.
It's not *technically* canon, but the other games have canonized bits and pieces of it.
One notable example is the Midwestern chapter of the BoS being cut off from the rest.

We got Invincible where Adam has read the comics and Jay has not. Now we have Jay who has played some of the Fallout games and Adam has not. Great to see this switch up.

Hell, when the first trailer released people on the Fallout subreddit were complaining about it because it meant that certain endings of F4 were made canon, when in reality it was confirmed long ago that the show wouldn't make any specific endings from any of the games canon.

@@WestCoast408 It was confirmed before the show releases that it wasn't the Prydwen and is a different airship called the Caswennan. The name being on the side of the ship was more than likely either a mistake the effects team made or they recorded the footage used of it for the pitch to Bethesda and Amazon.
Thank you for that tidbit about semiconductors and the reason for the retro future of some tech seeming more advanced then others. I was wondering if there was a reason for the 50's style besides it just looked cool. Like everything old is new again.

The Brotherhood of Steel started in California (in Lost Hills) but are nationwide, but not connected to each other. Theres are BoS groups in at least California, Colorado, Chicago and DC.

3:43 October 23rd 2077 is when the bombs dropped, also when this scene takes place. The first Fallout game is set in *2161* so nearly 100 years after the Great War. Fallout 2 is then set in *2241* followed by Fallout set in *2277* exactly 200 years after The Great War. Fallout New Vegas is set in *2281* and finally Fallout 4 is set in *2287*.
This TV show is set 219 after the Great War making it 2296 by the events of Lucy leaving the Vault. So 19 years after Fallout 3 and 15 years after Fallout New Vegas.
Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 are set on the East Coast so in relation to this show alot of the lore and history comes from the first two games and New Both all three taking place on the West Coast.
I want to know what happened before 2161 and why it's all 1960s ?

@@Dndnerd591 The in-game reason for it being 1960s-ish is that technology and culture diverged from the real world around the end of WWII . The real world reason is that the world of Fallout in 2077 is based on a 1950s-1960s pop culture idea of the future (like Disneyland's Tomorrowland attractions and the Jetsons).
I never played any of the games or knew any of the lore before giving this show a try. It 100% has now engulfed my interest both the show and now the games. I can not wait for more reactions about this show from you guys :)

Can I just say I love that you guys both like puns, it's so rare to find a duo where one doesn't hate or at least joke that they hate puns.
The Brotherhood of Steel began somewhere around Death Valley, in a military US Army bunker called the Mariposa Military Base. So, they're from California, but by the events of Fallout 3; they've actually spread out in small "chapters" across the North American continent. Some chapters have little to-no-contact with other chapters depending on distance and comms working correctly, and some chapters actually have conflicting ideologies

It takes place 9 years after Fallout 4, 219 years after the Great War.
First scene. I knew what was going to happen. We all did. In face, about 60 seconds in I bet if you gave me storyboard I could have given you a shot per shot rundown of what was going to happen and it would have been mostly correct!
But, somehow… despite that knowledge and expectation, when it all played out I shuddered, teared up, gasped.. all of it. It was masterclass. I just started today and was going to watch it all before seeking out reactions but I HAD to see at least one of that first scene, and it appears you felt the same!

You say it early this feels like a game and i love it. They use even a stimpack and no explanation of what it is and how it works. just a game mechanic in a television series and it works.
7:32 funny thing is when fallout 4 was announced, they were a limited edition collectible that you could pair with an app on your phone to sync up with your in game inventory. Even if you didn’t get the pip-boy, you could still use the app too, which was neat

Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME SHOW!!! I'm SOOOOOO looking forward to the rest of y'all's reviews.
One of the things I appreciate most about this show is how they established, right off the bat, that Lucy has a wide variety of skills, both in and out of combat. Given that so many shows lately just create a 'BaDaSs GrRrLbOsS' character who's the bestest there ever was at everydamnthing, with no explanation, no backstory, and no common sense, it was genuinely refreshing to SEE Lucy demonstrate her skills, and SEE how she learned them.
That being said, I ALSO really appreciate that, when she was fighting Monty in their chamber, she didn't just go all Rey Palpatine and kick his ass, despite the clear difference in their size, strength, and, fight experience. Yes, she fought back, and yes she fought hard, but there's a BIG difference between being TRAINED TO FIGHT, and ACTUALLY BEING A FIGHTER.
Monty was a Raider. He probably fought for his life on a weekly, if not daily basis. He was bigger and stronger than Lucy, and he, realistically, was kicking her ass. It was only her quick thinking, and her never giving up, that allowed her to slice and dice him.
Incredible scene! Amazing character development!! And a classic example of SHOW, DONT TELL.
And that isn't even taking into account all the OTHER amazingness in the episode. :D

The vastly different reactions to the community wedding dress made me laugh harder than I expected 😂
