30:36 Don't the Archons fit *perfectly* with a large number of templars since their ability restores energy in an AoE (besides also being a big tank to place in front)? Honestly, it kinda seems like they were designed deliberately to synergize well with these templars. Grant plays a lot more than I do though, so maybe he's right...
They also seems to be perfect to tank area damage, which is what took out his templars. Repeated small hits like storm should just heal instead of harm once you have enough archons.
They also have three base shield armour, which is ridiculous, and also combos excellently with their on-damage ability. Zerglings hit, what, twice a second? Five lings means two procs per second, stimmed marines even more... and the nightmare that is the Enlightened One is taking three, four damage a hit from that. Near a shield battery, these things would be invincible.

@@GiantGrantGamesArchives Grant, just a note: I think Kerrigan's extractors were already giving you gas on this mission. I don't think you had to blow them up.
They also function as super beefy frontline troops for the extremely squishy Prelates that gives even more energy when they die. A very nice combo and a better realization of the base Templar+Archon combination.
@@JulianCastelle23 And they can get Disruption Web on top of that, which really messes up most ground units. And the Tal'darim version... well, they're *very* different, that's for sure.
I was about to say that Grant is going to get Prelates nerfed, but then he lost like 100 worth of supply in 5 seconds, so it's all good :) Should've grabbed few Singularities there, they feed each other shields nicely and make for excellent tanks. Then again, he completely crushed the Mastermind (who supposedly has spell resistance), so who knows. As a sidenote, Chain Lightning used to be autocast in some old versions. That'd be even more hilarious here. Edit: Also, you didn't read War Council upgrade properly. You keep Chain Lightning, it's Singularities which get Disruption Web - so they get a lot better, while Prelates are still great.
the whole time i was like "it says kerrigan isn't allowed to die, why are you not helping her?". Probably i would've overthought that objective and defended her waaayy too much. but as we're apparently not the same person, i can see that maybe a tooltip along the lines of "kerrigan is using her forces to help you push" or "As Kerrigan is obviously distracted, she can't handle her swarm as well (similar to the stukov mission)." could be helpful for others. Still, i'd probably overthink it then. Also, the lightning rod tooltip is different upon getting the upgrade compared to the war council. in-game it says it "forks to additional targets", in the war council it says "first target emits 8 additional lightning bolts with 30 dmg."
You didn't notice either? There was a tip during the loading screen that mentioned that Kerrigan may get overrun, I figured that was all the tip that was needed.
The singularity actually feels overpowered too by keeping the army alive with his buff, if multiple singularity are able to stack their effect. Even if they do not it still feels amazing When Grant lose that one singularity, all the templars are slowly dropping, I dun think he realise it 😂
Hey Grant, if you replay the mission or watch your video, there is an alert about Kerrigan needing help on hybrid waves that got buried on you being busy slaughtering a base, before that wave taking down her hatcheries that she does not rebuild she was fine ish. She can use some help to not lose hatcheries vs terran, but overall she needs help on hybrid... Just pointing this out because I agree that I was confused if you should help her actively or not, and whether she actually used gas or not.
Also, Darkcoil Legionaires upgrade works with top bar AI Hijack, so you get to spawn 30 little zealots which run around and stun things. Pretty nice upgrade to an already powerful ability.
10k minerals was all Queen of Blades needed to siege and take control of Korhal from UED and their pet zerg in the Brood War. So comperatively 9k Mineral is a whole lot of minerals. Edit: Well Kerrigan must survive was in mission obj. so it was a sufficient warning? Edit 2: Slayn bcoz air in Purifier missions are good which gives you to test them.
This high templar is crazy, but let’s not forget you had infinite money on this mission. I don’t think a campaign has ever given the player this many bases.
if this is the rate at which you clear stuff at this point in the campaign already, I can't imagine how laggy the final mission has to be to cram in enough enemies to remotely still pose a challenge! but I trust the mod to have found a cool solution to this seeming problem.
The thing with the Singularities is that theyre the Prelate's(this mission's spellcaster) anti-splash cushion on top of being a tank with the grant shield to allies when hit ability so when you get stormed and got like 3 to 4 singularity archons in there they'll pump shields and save your prelate blob that could have been neat on that tough ramp segment.
The archons synergize really well with more archons. With the shield/energy pulses they become very nicely tanky, especially vs Zerg and Terran bio. Also, the near-constant shield regen helps counter splash and aoe. Much less useless than vanilla archons. Also, not sure if Grant noticed, but those dark pylon-looking things produce hybrid.
Look, don't blame Karax for being unable to control Moebius Robots when they have the three Great Security Protocols. You can't expect him to be able to crack those!

Kinda think Grant might be sleeping on the archons as a support unit for the templar. 3-4 of them regening each other's shields and the templar's energy when they take damage seems like it could be /very/ good. Still, very cool mission, and mass templar certainly seemed strong on its own. XD

I’m gonna be honest, I’m not a big fan of the Archon. Not because of its passive, it’s pretty strong when stacked. It’s because it’s RNG-based. Why not just make the restoration wave happen every 5 autos instead of “let’s go gambling” at a 20% chance? Edit: I have been informed by Amith that the passive procs upon GETTING hit, not firing their own autoattacks. I stand corrected, this passive is better than I made it out to be.
I disagree, completely. He was just busy and didn't listen to the alert of "Hybrid incoming" to Kerrigan the very first time which slaughtered her "buffer" and she stopped building as much and defending the low ground. Not Grant fault on behaviour, but just busy to notice.
Okay, I think the Chain Lightning, while awesome, should be unable to damage buildings. I'm not a fan of needlessly nerfing abilities in single player games, but it's a little TOO good.
A spellcaster that has a spell that deals big damage that can quickly kill big targets, with low energy cost that also has a solid auto attack? Good thing this is a campaign because that doesn't feel balanced.
