This is so up my alley. I would've come out of retirement to over see this project with you. I spent 30 of the best years of my life restoring, salvaging and resurrecting historically significant sites including 100's of barns which were my favorite. What a magnificent example of old school craftmenship.
Drive by this every weekend! Watched the actual process! Was exciting to see it when it was listed… months back. Glad that the new owners have found the value in this part of Oklahoma history! 🇺🇸
I have driven by this barn many times and love that it is getting fixed and updated. I believe years ago you could actually tour it. Glad to see that it is in good hands. Have always wanted to stop by and take some pictures of it and my motorcycle out front of it. Thank you for sharing.
I am beyond impressed with ADC! What a JOB?!?! And it turned out so beautifully. Incredible. The price of doing this is PRICELESS! Worth every cent. What a truly amazing landmark! I wouldn't have put a smaller flag above old Glory but it's not my barn. Fantastic.
Bless you for saving this very unique and historic barn. Your efforts to do it right will ensure that this treasure is preserved for the future. Thank you passing on the old metal roofing for something else, even if it’s decorative. People go nuts for old weathered beat up tin. Possibly think about making the barn a tourist or historic visitors spot. Very cool 😎 thanks for posting. ❤ watching from Indiana

It looks like the barn is made out of concrete blocks as you can see from the inside and it was covered with a rock layer that allows it to blend it better with the surroundings and looks more aesthetically pleasing. The Mexican states of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí have barns of this size made out of stone without bricks and are over 200 years old. I remember this hacienda has a set of multiple barns attached one next to each other. There is another hacienda in Jalisco that has such a large barn that it got divided into 4 other barns within it, plus the tapanco. In the modern times of the u.s. where everything seems to be disposable and one use only, it’s good to see older structures like this barn getting a second opportunity! Good luck on your project!
That roof creates the largest billboard in Oklahoma. You should consider painting a massive design on it. The American flag, your logo, or even an image of a horse.
Those are buttresses, an ancient building construction method used extensively in old world cathedrals and Roman building works of all kinds. Beautiful!
What an incredible incredible structure. So very impressive. Such outstanding engineering. Congratulations on the roof replacement. All the time, effort and the expense. All the best on successful water collection and retention. Thank you for sharing.
That's so awesome to see the barn being restored n used! I am sort of surprised you couldn't find good water so close to sooner lake! My grandparents had a huge barn on their farm in Kansas n was my favorite place.
Wonderful restoration, not many doing that today as the cost would be too much. Thats the main reason most owners just tear them down, but old style farmers like me just love them. Strange that it was built that high with out any loft, that's a lot of wasted space. I know that when built, they did put up hay loose, but never that deep. The new rage now is to build a new large machine storage structure and include a inside living space, to cut down the taxes over building a new house. The tax savings will likely pay for the building in less than a decade. Plus you then have a massive indoor patio space for year round enjoyment! And the privacy that brings. We still have the old dairy style barn here on the farm, I've convert4ed a part of it for my "Man Cave" and displaying some of my better artifacts. Now that I'm a bit retired, hope to get it more refined.
Wow that barn is amazing. Those workers did a great job installing the new roof, and you did great describing everything. Did you win the lottery, how did you afford to do that, I can't imagine what it cost. Great video thanks I enjoyed it.
@turnoverranch Great job by your roofing contractor and hats to your family for making the investment in a new roof that should last one hundred years with proper maintenance. A question I'd like to ask is; did this barn originally have a hayloft structure that was removed and were the cinder block walls on the inside end walls original to the structure or were they added years or decades after original construction in 1941?
@@chadbredbenner1555 there's been no hay loft to our understanding. We do not know about the cinder block. There was a hay fire about 10 years after it was built. We wondered if the cinder block was added at that time or if it was original?
I moved to ND from WI in my 30's, made me deeply sad to look around one day and realize what was missing, all the old barns like in WI and MN. They said people took them down and sold all the heavy timber frame beams. Sad.

Wrap your kid in bubble wrap and make him a wimp if you like.. But the rest of us are raising strong children that are ready for the world.. The only limits on what kids can do is what simps and fools put on them.. If people had always been raised with safety nets and bubble wrap then nobody would ever have boarded the Mayflower or stormed the beaches of Normandy.. Modern fools are what is destroying the world.. Let the children be to learn and discover and get an occasional scrape, they are far more capable then you think
That is work done by people who took pride in their work. They didn't have the power tools we have today.
