- Melody Myers - Tennessee, USA. I would love to audition for the Eric Whitacre Scholarship (Carnegie Hall). I very much enjoy singing Lux Aurumque. I've also sung some other songs by Eric Whitacre, including: Go, Lovely Rose, Animal Crackers (I love it, its hilarious!), and A Boy and a Girl. I am a big fan of Eric Whitacre and I love all his songs :) I hope to learn new songs of his because he is such an excellent music composer. I must say that this piece along with A Boy and a Girl has moved me so much that I have cried a couple times while performing them. I can't wait to be moved by yet another one of his songs in the future, I look forward to it..
Anyway, sorry for writing a paragraph about this, but I can't help it. Music has touched my heart.. so many ways in life. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you so much for considering me :) Wish I had a better place to record though.. the webcam tends to crack somewhat under high notes.
(cont'd) ... It feels like being lifted up and floating on clouds, as if gravity had stopped. I don't want to diminish the contributions and the talent of the other 184 singers ... but for me it's your little innocent smile there during the solo that makes the difference :) ... the video wouldn't be the same without it. Thank you for making the stressful life of this IT geek a little bit happier. Now when people demand impossible things from me I shall think of your little smile there :) Thx!
kudos to sound engineer who had to make HD from this in Eric's video. Nice voice and beautiful girl you are!
My, my, you have quite the gift! Your angelic countenance and voice almost moved me to tears. I love how joy flows out from your heart as you sing. Hang on to that.
Angel, I could listen to your pure voice and never tire of your beauty. Your voice moves me to thank God for such talent...and beauty. May god Bless You.
I can't stop watching and rewatching the video where all 185 of you guys are singing. I am blown away!! Also: When you sing the Soprano solo there early on ... It's your heavenly and joyful smile there that gives the virtual choir "a face" (and a very beautiful one too!). That small innocent smile there in itself is a very powerful message too ... :) ... together with the music it makes my heart stop and makes me want to die in that second (and I mean this in the most positive way!), it feels l
baby you are ....BRILLIANT. Gorgeous, beautiful smile, awesome voice . :) all the best.
My teacher at school just showed us about Eric Whitacre and I saw your solo and I just wanna say, you're an amazing singer that should be really famous. Plus you're gorgeous
Your voice is angelic, so much talent and professionalism, yet so much heart and passion. Absolutely marvelous, you're a delight,

Incredible. It doesn't matter about the quality. You look and sound beautiful. Fantastic voice.
I was just recently introduced to the Lux Aurumque video the other day and the first thing that came to mind when I saw you in the opening minute was Angelic. Absolutely amazing and by far my favorite portion of an amazing piece.

You are SUPER pretty and have a GREAT soprano voice!!! Kepp singing I want to hear more!!!:)
Agh, been almost 4 years.. I cringe at the way I'm singing in this video now. Horrible vowels - breathing with my shoulders!? Bad Melody, BAD! Please watch something else! LOL.
So Lovely! Watch Something else OK as long as you are in it! MMM!
You remind me of band teachers talking to the parents at a school concert: "for weeks, all you have heard is what your child has been playing. But when all the instruments come together, we have beautiful music and your child is part of it."
Wow! Thank you very much! You don't know how much that means to me. I'm truly speechless, all I can say is thank you times a billion!!! :D
can i just say that i really love your voice and you did a beautiful job in the song and i loved it so so much! you have a beautiful voice and you are just beautiful too! (:
When I listen to the original Virtual Choir piece I noticed that your distinct and beautiful voice is the only one my ear can single out. I hope you get your scholarship! I am also looking forward to hearing you sing something solo here on RUclips.

You are a lovely soul and an angel to behold. I wish that I knew you. I wish you well.
OH, MY GOSH! YOU WERE IN THE VIDEO!
You have the voice of an angellll!!!
The virtual choir was on Canadas National evening news a couple of nights ago-nothing like a few million extra viewers for exposure eh?
It was for me the first time I heard Lux Aurumque and I was quite captivated.
First thing that popped into my head- "where was this when Peter jackson was making Lord Of The Rings- certainly you have the looks as so many have pointed out and certainly you have the talent to go with it.-looking forward to seeing much more of you
You are SUPER pretty and have a GREAT soprano voice!!! Kepp singing!!!:)
Nice work, Melody!
Straight from tennessee, another wonderful voice. Keep going kid!
This is absolutely beautiful! We're playing this song in band, and I just absolutely love it. You're voice definitely does it justice! :)

amazing :-) and Eric has seen it ..
Melody Myers was well named, it's not just how she sounds it's something of her soul she adds to it. I hope we hear more Melody's from her down the line!
Its rare to find someone with such an amazing voice AND a beautiful face. Its usually one or the other xD Your amazing, im jealous of you. I would have loved to be a part of this
Amazing voice!!!
When should breath in, expand your stomach,. So instead of breathing in from your chest breathe in from your stomach. This technique is used in my high school choir and our performances level has increased so much!
you have a voice of an angel :)
You're extremely talented and beautiful, I hope to hear you sing more.
O_o ...but...but...you sang alto..and now...omg...
i bow before your awesomeness
You have an amazing voice! If you didn't Eric whitacre wouldn't have piced you for the soloist in his virtual chior for this piece. :)
You should be on American Idol!! You ar freakin amazing!!! I thought you did great on the solo too!
i saw u on students news!!!!!!! your amazing
It is that of an angel. An angel.
Have you ever seen Doctor Who? You are the splitting image of a younger River Song, a very good thing :) Very nice audition, congratulations on making it in :]

youre amazing :)
My you are growing up since I first saw you on the virtual choir.
Nice Melody nice! Its tiff
Silly question.. Do you have a Three or Four Octave range??
The strength tone & timber to your voice is just captivating
Truly special to see all the single vocals arrangend into the final chorus
You rightfully should be very proud
@jeyvin23 Aw what a compliment, thank you sooo much times a billion :) And I agree with the last statement! I can't wait to see what the next one is going to be like!
wow wow wow
OMG you have an amazing voice....im so jealous i which i stayed in choir
Wow! :-)
So with Mr. Whitacre's Virtual Choir you can sing multiple parts? That's very interesting to say the least, because this is effectively the only way a person could sing multiple parts in the same performance at the same time.
@Aleera161 Whitacre is famous for using huge chords in his music. For example, at one point in Water Night the whole choir splits into 14 parts, and the sopranos have *five* parts alone! So when she says she's singing "soprano 3", it probably means she's singing the third of several parts in the soprano section. One being the highest, 2 the next, and so on. (She's definitely not singing the highest part of Lux in this video.) Hope this helps!
@SugarbabyLA
Was it your beautiful face and voice that was the inspiration for the virtual choir? Eric Whitacre refers to someone (he didn't name anyone specifically) who sent him a video of their self singing one of his pieces. I just wondered if yours was the lovely face that "launched the 'virtual choir' ship" ?
Angelic countenance to be sure
Very nice, I like. The only thing I can say is check your audio quality and at around 1:25ish minutes there is a word where the letter "R" sounds to much, try flipping it to get a cleaner sound. Other than that very nice, very beautiful voice and really pretty face. :)
you are. an angel. the end.
good stuff
oh well, paying closer attention to the other sopranos, i just discovered it's soprano 1 singing that note ;)
She is in "flow" singing. No question!
@xoLorennx3 She was auditioning for a soprano part probably called Soprano Three.
@shadowater28 Wow, thank you for such a wonderful, clear explanation! :) I was just going to respond when I saw your comment. I couldn't have said it better myself! Thanks again.
PIO METRIA PETHAINEI !!! ROSARTE CHOIR MONO !!!!
is there a higher soprano? which level voice sings the very high note at 2:06 of the virtual choir version?
Good work, the choir has gotten larger now. Get a better mic, and you can make sound baffles to reduce the fan noise. Looking forward to the next piece.
American Idol? Too good loking and too talanted. IMHO
@SugarbabyLA
What!!!? That's crazy! I would have passed you. Your really good.
I think i put i figure of you on top of my Christmas tree
@kanoagirl1 Haha! Well thank you. And speaking of that, I auditioned the other day, and the woman producer that judged me said and I quote, "Unfortunately, it's a no, we are looking for people with odd/outlandish people and looks." I didn't even make it past the first round.
@LongLiveLink3 No.
If you use third vocies, that simply means that the vocal resolution is higher. There is nothing magical about using two voices per general voicetype.
Oh, I completely agree! That was a crappy, cheap computer mic of course, before I purchased a more decent sounding mic. :]
@tom95521 Haha! Wow thank you :) There's no hurt in trying I suppose. Maybe the next time they come so TN I'll audition lol
@aloeart Oh, btw you make me smile A LOT with your comments haha! Thank you again :) :)
@GregoriousGregori9 Sorry for the late reply haha, just got a chance to look at all the comments :P and thank you so much! As for my range, I can reach a c below middle c, and 3 octaves above middle c :) so I guess a 4 octave range? lol
@moby1957 Thank you so much! And yes I sure will! :P Should be putting up a new video soon lol
@Lovestar120 There is a lot more to singing than just hitting "the right notes!"
oh my god is your name melody?
lol
proper
@moby1957 Wow.. thank you so very much! I don't know what else to say...
@starward most good singers wouldn't even go to american idol because they actually take themselves seriously. "glorified karaoke" very well said
@LongLiveLink3 um noooo, parts can be separated into many different vocal parts, this determines who is high, middle, low, lower, ect.. alto can also be a I, II, III. Aswell as tenors, bass, baritone :/ why are you listing to this if you yourself have to idea what you are talking about?
@duxndogs1 Wow :D thank you soooo much :)
