Nice layout 👍 I think it's worth investing the time in bringing the tunnel portal forward, it will make such a difference to the look of that area.

Yes! If you move that tunnel mouth, closer on that bit of straight track, just from looking at your video, you will be happy with it, it looked good and made sense when you showed us what you were thinking! As for everything else, join the club!! Haha, best thing you can do is operate your railway, now. I just got done with laying track on mine, wanted another town, ( I had a L shaped layout) so I came out into the room with 2 ft wide by 10 ft long price. Great! I can have so much more operation, I like switching, well I ended up taking it down, the back part, let’s call it, never got used, because I had to walk around the whole thing to throw a switch!! So yeah, live and learn! It’s still a great hobby. I did get it to where I am happy with it, glad I tried it

Happy New Year Andy, I am sure you had a great holiday.
As you know from my comments on earlier videos, I share your unhappiness with the tunnel. I think your idea to move the tunnel mouth round to a straight part of the track giving the illusion that the the track goes straight on is brilliant. This can be further enhanced by building up the corner into a proper hill where the only solution for the railway engineers was to build a tunnel if going straight on. Not sure where your laying is set but could even go to a cliff face, mountaineers, ski lifts.... perhaps not 😂😂

Thanks Brian. Happy New Year to you too. Moving the tunnel answer is definitely the way to go. Looking back at the videos it was an obvious solution… but sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees!! Some reflection time on a sunbed also helps! As always, thanks for your continued support and suggestions. Take care, Andy

Love your layout. I see you is some of the Halfords Camo acrylic paint. Good colours for weathering etc.
    David.

Thank you. Yes, it’s a really good colour. I went to Halfords to get some primer and saw that!

thick foliage on the left approach to the tunnel will disguise the portal a lot.

I've always felt that, much as an artist views a piece of art they have worked on, a model railway is never finished and constantly evolving. Don't give yourself a hard time for trying something and finding it doesn't work (like the cutting), as others have said you can always change things up! Have FUN modelling this year and I look forward to seeing your progress!

You could do a very short tunnel before the long one.

One little detail that is not a mistake. the amount I have made would curl my hair if any was left. Sometime you do not see it until you build it, then you kick yourself. That is beer time run some trains. After one or three it will come to you.

Welcome back from your holiday. the stud wall would be very beneficial with the added storage. and that storage would help with some of your other projects.

Hi, could you please say where you get the board from that you use when building up levels to the track, and I wish you a happy new Year.

Happy new year to you too. I got the boards from eBay. They were listed as ‘3mm Matt black foam PVC sheets A3’ 👍
