If you get in someone's way, and they're angry about something, anything - doesn't have to be anything recent - and if they have no other outlet for their aggression, then you're it. Sacked the day before? If you cross that person, you'll get done to you what they would have liked to do to their boss. Beloved, supportive mother died suddenly many years ago? Tell them to get back to work and you'll end up taking full responsibility for that death. Strange as it seems, such displacement happens all the time.
