I got my first “SCAR bite” from my SCAR 17 last weekend when shooting. Practicing rifle to pistol back to rifle reload transitions and placed my hand in the wrong place. Wasn’t as bad as people make it sound, but it hurt the web between my thumb and index finger for about an hour. Other than that the gun is kinda cool.
AR15 Great. When a part goes down, you are GTG with all that is out there for that platform. The SCAR, good luck if you can even get the part you need in 3 months. I know from experience.
Are we ever going to get the SCAR-SC? Preferably in .300 BLK, since 5.56 with a 7.5" barrel might as well be 5.7. Any comments on NRCH receivers being sear blocked, as mentioned in a recent MAC video?
I have a 17 cut the barrel back 1.5" pin and welded a muzzle break that accepts my 8" can. Atlas Bi-Pod, Geissele trigger and a Elcan 1.5/6 scope, I'm hitting 12" steel plates out at 600M. A great weapon system.
Like to have any SCAR, but a 14” inch 5.56 SCAR WOULD BE JIST AS AWESOME AS A 16” or 18” inch in 308 or 6.5!!! [That would be a hard choice] unless I could have both 😉😎💯
It's crazy how people shit on each other for their gun preference. Scars are fun to shoot but to he honest I haven't found a gun yet that wasn't fun. I personally don't like how they look so haven't bought one (for now) but not going to talk shit to people who do like them. Just like people don't like my Jack's lower on my sbr and says it's a gimmick. Well I liked it so I bought it.
I wish I lived in a universe where the h&k xm8 was adopted and sold in the USA 😭😭😭😭 side note scar is OK didn't do anything for me special but I'm sure there is a nice aftermarket for it

I have been looking at purchasing a suppressor and a short barrel rifle. Could you all or have you all walked through a process on how to purchase and the expectations of purchasing both? I know state laws vary but knowing the federal process would be helpful. Thanks.
Really cool of FNH to update the scar and make the charging handle non reciprocating and ambidextrous after all these years. Now its at least kinda close to being as good as a Robinson arms XCR.
Nothing wrong with the scar rifles other than the price. We come from a society of throw away things and that is why price impacts some people. Anyway back to the NRCH(non reciprocating charging handle) I have listened to and watched numerous people complain about the CH and how it gets in the way or reciprocates and hits their hand. Change it to the other side and amazing how people can shoot an AK since the ‘50s and never have a problem with it. The other thing is that people are so accustomed to the AR15 or hunting rifles and they try shooting all rifles the same way. The stock on the Scar17s/MK 17 is IMHO a lazy way of finishing out the rifle. Weight is another factor. Polymer lower receiver is helpful but less pic would help cut down weight. Also A2 grip is another area that they could have changed.

The rifle is either “meh” or it is not “meh” - and in fact it is an outstanding, reliable, well polished rifle with amazing fit and finish in the hand. The fact that it costs over $2000 (which some “meh” piston ARs also cost) is beside the point. You can either afford it, or you talk poop about it to make yourself believe you don’t want it. ;)

There is NO SUCH THING AS A "ASSAULT WEAPON".....Assault RIFLES ABSOLUTELY exist, they are any FULL AUTO rifle chambered in a intermediate military cartridge, like 5.56/.223, .300blk, 7.62×39, 6.8spc. A BATTLE RIFLE on the other hand is any Full auto rifle chambered in any full size military caliber like 7.62×51, 7.62×54r, .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, etc. ......hope that clears up YOUR confusion, on the subject. Assult WEAPON= MADE UP POLITICAL TERM... ASSULT RIFLE= REAL WEAPON THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BEABLE TO OWN, With no restrictions or background checks, or hoops to jump thru. In fact they should be given out on every citizens 18th birthday free by the government.

I may be wrong, and if you believe that I am, you're more than welcomed to provide actual proof that other gun manufacturers publicly advertised their rifles as assault rifles. They desperately need to offer factory suppressor settings, the 1 in 12 twist sucks in the mk17, the barrels do not have shoulders to index off of either. The NRCH is a over dramatized point
