@@rosemarievaccaro1970 while the dog might not understand, they understand tone of voice. Certain tones your voice gives can be comforting or harsh and scare the animal. When dealing with an animal, talk to it even if it doesn't understand words. It's unfortunate that the dog is going back to the owner... But keep this in mind for next time. Do you really want an animal to panic that you are working on? No? You speak to the dog. There are books on animal psychology and this is something that can help someone in dealing with animals on a psychological level and therefore can help an animal be more calm and behaved, if done so correctly.

Awww poor baby. He was such a good boy. I have nothing bad to say about the owners. I’m sure we have all gotten into some big financial binds before. But I think it’s important for people to remember, they can buy clippers at Wal mart. It doesn’t mean they have to go crazy with them, but it could help for situations such as this. But this guy was SO patient. He was on the table for a LONG time. It had to be done though. I’m glad he’s feeling better now. I’d love to give him some pets and playtime. He’s a sweetie. I''ve seen other groomers cut vertically down the leg on the outside, and then tear the coat apart from the cut before removing the enter mat with the shaving tool. It is more painful to peel and cut horizontal as it pulls the skin cause more pain and takes much longer to remove the mat.

I know how difficult it can be getting through the matting especially on the legs & tail. I now run the blade of me clippers down the length of the leg just as though you're removing a cast. This gets you safely right down to the bone and gives you the access you need to start shaving away the matting. I also use secatuers instead of scissors to de-bulk very thickened matting. They're much stronger, really versatile and nit having a sharp point, much safer. Keep up the good work!

I am going to confess… my dog was ‘almost’ to that point. I was sick for awhile.. then hospitalized… then recovery. Had her with a pet sitter who didn’t have her groomed because I didn’t ‘give her permission’ or the money. I was furious and felt so bad for her. But, a great groomer helped her, and we have made sure to never let that happen again… and won’t use that ‘petsitter’ again.🤬 So, yes, things happen beyond our control 😩

I had a medical emergency Jan 2023. I had to be hospitalized then rehabbed until earlier this year, 2024. I have a Pomeranian and 2 Persian cats. While I had people to take care of my animals, like feeding, cleaning litter boxes, vet visits, etc., they certainly did nothing with their grooming. I am still heartbroken at the condition my beloved pets were in when I finally got home. I don't know why I didn't think about their grooming, maybe meds? Why didn't they say the animals needed to be groomed? I don't know. I would have paid for it. I still beat myself up for it every single day. I guess my point is, there are all sorts of things that happen in life. We can't know what another person is going through.

It took forever to do, and I did it over a course of 5 days, when I was sitting them. They were in pain, but at the end of it they were so happy, moving so much better, that is the biggest reward. i need to start recording. Just makes me sad to see. The longest 2 took me 6 hours each. I told them that this is never happening again, and they will be done regularly. I said, "imagine you have a ponytail and everyday it gets tighter. That is what your dogs are feeling." I hope that wakes them up.

Try using tin foil to sharpen you dull scissors. Also. Maybe use something of Vicks menthol for your nose or eucalyptus oil to block the odor for your nose because if the strong smell emanating from this poor dog. Keep up the good work. I admire your attitude and drive to get the job done the fastest and safeist way possible. ✅🙏🏻

If she isn't going to take care of it then she doesn't really need the dog. He is pretty

Good job. Owners should watch. I have a GSD 95lbs. She sat near me the other day. Told her she stinks. Looked at me then moved. I lifted her into the bathtub for a much needed bath. I used shed shampoo. Lots of brushing. Today.

You did awesome. You showed tons of patience. The dog as you kept going, seemed to understand. Suggestion: if you can tolerate the smell. Try just a tiny dab of vicks under your nose. Im prety good with most, but some.... i used when my cat was healing from a severely broken leg. Had to keep straight so used a metal bracket to go either side of his leg putting pieces to hold, then wrapping the whole thing in tape. Changed out twice. Then had to go a third stretch as on place wasnt healed enough. When we took it off the last time, there were places that had gotten more serious pressure sores and infected. I used the vicks to mask the smell as i took care of it. Was used by my friends husband to keep his stallion from spelling the mares when in heat. Maybe that or something similar to help these cases. You did so good considering. My praises and prayers.😃

Why should anyone leave hate comments? You are doing an amazing job. Poor wee lamb. Thank you for grooming them. Anything you do is good. Have you tried the Vicks Trick? A dab of Vicks on your upper lip under your nose? Or peppermint oil? Also you are dealing with your own child at the same time? That takes oodles of patience. 😂😮😊😊😊
But, but, dogs do not like to be filthy. Animals groom themselves by nature. I think it must distress them to be in this state as it makes them smell “unnatural”.

I watch MAN'SBEST FRIEND He (Damjan) is a groomer from UK where there are no leash laws or rescue centers. The dogs he gets are terribly matted and neglected. They are fortunate enough to have some people rescue them. He does it for free and then brings them to a free vet to check on them. Some of the dogs are soo matted they have to be sedated by the vet while grooming. There was one that he could not even tell the head from the tail. May I make a suggestion as I see him doing it when you get a severly matted dog as this one. Cut through the hair a LITTLE at a time downward and pulling the matted hair apart. It give more room closer to the skin, and then shave it, again a little at a time.

That poor dogs feet/nails look deformed because of the condition he was left in. It breaks my heart to watch all pain and discomfort the poor dog had to go through. I pray his owners never let him get that bad ever again.

Can I just say anytime you've shown somewhere you live or packing I am absolutely envious at how organized in minimalist you are. I do try to go through things... But I'm an office/school supply hoarder. I enjoy writing and drawing so it's helpful having those things but.... It does pile up. The 'big box of storage' in the storage closet is so minimal in comparison to what I've got.😂
The monjaro (sp?) seems to have basic injection rules as insulin, as far as where you can inject and how the cold can effect how it feels going in. Small things needles are really nice because feel it less too

This needs small gauge sheep shears. A small Exacto blade could make vertical cuts in the "boot" to help "peel" it off, but that could be very dangerous to the dog, so maybe thats why she does not use something like that.

Great video you have here. As a professional groomer with many years of experience, I've seen my fair share of matted fur. While this situation definitely requires attention, it's actually not the worst I've encountered. I once groomed a Newfoundland whose coat was so severely matted it formed tight clumps close to the skin. It took hours of careful work to remove them comfortably without causing any irritation. Thankfully, this situation seems much more manageable. With some patience and the right tools, you should be able to get your dog's fur looking healthy and tangle-free in no time! Fully clipping him as you had done made the job much easier.
