Superb! Thanks for the inspiration; just completed mine. My hammer heads attach with M8 bolts. This parts list works: 1 ea M8-1.25x35mm Flange Bolt, 1 ea 1/2 inch MIP x Close Nipple, 1 ea 1/2 inch FIP cap, lead shot balls for weight and the 'dead blow' effect, shrink tubing (only for aesthetics really) to cover the exposed threads on the nipple. File the cap to shape, if desired. Hey Yoav; thanks again! Your hammer design will go to work here soon to replace the frets on a beautiful Taylor 314CE. Cheers from WA, USA!
Hi, great idea! Any feedback after a couple of years? Are you still using it? I'm concerned about the length of that brass tip compared to the original plastic one, is it comfortable to use?
Yep. That is exactly what I did and that's why it's under 10$ The screw is 1/4 inch thread and the brass parts are standard 1/2" threads. The washers just need to fit. 😉
@@biggstile are you referring to an old acoustic with gold colored frets? If so the brass my dent it if your not carful those are usually made up of similar materials use a hard plastic hammer for that and if they dont seat give the neck a little and i mean a LITTLE back bow to far and anything you try to seat will just spring back out once your confident they found they rightful places on the slots straighten the neck you shouldnt need to hit it very hard a trick i was taught by my mentor and father

It’s like someone seen your video and made a version on Amazon that has interchangeable tips. It comes with brass, nylon, plastic and rubber.
I have a hammer just like that. Looks like it’s going to get an upgrade this weekend

What brass parts did you buy? Is that plumbing? Can i go to my hardware store and find then fairly cheap?

How much softer is brass than typical nickel copper frets?
