Tim, You should be starting your trip from the train station where the average tourist for the day will begin.(East Croydon to BR, £20-£25 with rail card, 1 hour 30 minutes: passing Arundel castle which itself is worth a visit)
Initially on leaving the train station the tourist is presented with a small shopping center which is vibrant and welcoming and caters for the hungry tourist.
Lots of shops selling the stuff you need for a day on the beach.
Once you have had your coffee and cake, its a short walk to the beach. Thats quite a nice thing to be close to the station from the beach.
The beach is pleasant, and yes as you say it is a pebble beach, but that's the southeast. You have the cycle lane/promenade which goes s far as 'you need it to go' So you dont need to walk on the stones until you have to,
The beach is clean and very rarely in my experience super busy. There are free toilets and as you saw, free water fountains which is rare. Brighton doesn't, as far as I know, offer that!
The 'people gym' stuff is just a nonsense that councils have to do and I think just creates more street furniture to attract vandalism and if someone uses it, then great,
In terms of south coast resorts Bognor Regis (why is it called that Tim?) has a charm about it which has been lost in places like Eastbourne and if you want to see real declining resorts, visit Hastings, Torquay, or Bournemouth where nearly every other shop is empty due to sky high business rates which are, ironically, killing business. People live in these areas and need these things local to them. The quality of the shopping center is vital, it's a central place which everyone looks to for most of their life needs such as shopping, socializing etc.
For the sea front promenade , you did not go far enough. It goes past Butlins by quite a few miles. I've cycled it and its a fair few miles with a few coffee shops along the way.
However it ends abruptly, (about 4 miles) and just simply disappears up into a nice housing area. Keep going and you end up at a Tesco Express. Hardly glamorous, but if you are on a budget, why not.
I would like you to have a criteria of some kind when visiting these places. How to get there, did you drive, train, other. Costs etc.
Give an honest first impression as if you were a starry eyed tourist visiting for the first time. Take your partner and see it if from a couples point of view. Good restaurants? nice pubs? good atmosphere?
Highlight the state of the shopping center and amenities. They are the real indication of how well a resort is doing . Empty shops just shows a lack luster unimaginative local council.
Bognor Regis appears to be doing well based on that (my) criteria, but perhaps a local would like to give their view. Im just there for a day (or two) trip but they live there. Why? What makes them stay? They know all the good stuff and bad, so I think you would benefit from including the locals in your docs.
    Have fun!

We went a couple of years ago, stayed in Worthing (nice pier). We liked Bognor beach. It is what it is - stones.... but what impressed us was the sea air. The South coast had a fresh salty aroma about it and the sea was shiny blue. Very different to the seaside town we live in.
Bognor has a lovely charm about it. Modest, faded grandeur. The town centre is dull, but the Butlins resort is magnificent - we tried and failed to get a day pass.
Chichester is near Bognor - its a beautiful, small City. Everyone milling around, shopping - a proper thowback to the traditional, bustling centre of things.
Love the South coast. Very - and proudly - English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍

I live near the German north sea cost and the water is always grey and no Salty sea air. The English south coast is under the direct Influence and open to the the north atlantic ocean, especially since most of the time the wind comes from west. This explains the beautiful blue colour of the sea and the Salty sea air.

Hi Tim, Just a couple of things you missed in Bognor Regis - just the other end of Marine Park gardens, Dog friendly West Park, with it's lovely Café,, Hotham Park, near Butlins and just 200mtrs from the beach, huge children's playground, storybook wood carvings, an Arboretum, lots of nice areas for picnics, Adventure Golf, a nature reserve, big Miniature Railway, Boating Lake, another great Dog Friendly Café with a REAL Pizza Oven ! Also on the beach, when the tide is out we have about 100 metres by 2 miles of golden sands, with rock pools, plus some D-Day history with a Mulberry Harbour ! Come back soon, and let a local show you round

We love Bognor and its attractions such as Hotham Park but have never styaed at the Butlins there. The resort never seems to get too busy and has a brilliant retro amusements (Mr P's) just off the seafront opposite the mini golf and next to Pinks. Family owned and managed by Dave & Amelia. Great mix of well cared for retro classic machines in there as well as many up to date ones. No ticket machines here, although you can win tokens to exchange for some great prizes. Well worth a look in if you are in the area and would like to see some machines that you never see operating anywhere else now.

Poor Bognor. Doesn't even get many comments on a video about it.....
Ok. I am one of not too many Germans who have been to most English seaside resorts. Yes, I know them all (except Margate, never been there, no idea why not)
And it all started in Bognor Regis in 1976. I had just turned 12 and my parents sent me over to Bognor to improve my English. For 3 weeks I stayed with a host family at Winston Crescent in North Bersted,
Loved it. It might not be the most exciting resort, but it doesn't have to be when you are twelve and alone in a new country! The beach, the pier, the slot machines... That was more than enough for me. Part of the package were day trips to Eastbourne, Brighton, Arundel and London. Loved everything. People were friendly, the weather lovely, and most of the time I didn't understand a word (thank God that has improved hahaha).
So.... 45 years on I can say I have spent so much time on the British Isles. I have my favourites of course and the South Coast is not one of them, alas. I go to Eastbourne and Brighton quite often, was amazed how much Folkestone has improved, but I had never been to Bognor again.
Until 2019 an English friend of mine had enough of me going on and on about Bognor. He took me to the town on a cold November day... It was freezing! But I recognized so many places, it hasn't changed that much. We also drove up to have a look at the bungalow in North Bersted where my host family lived.
Such great memories! And now, thanks to your lovely vlog, I've seen Bognor in the sun again!
To me it is the place "where it all began - the love for everything English and British".
Must go again one day soon 😁💕

Pinks Ice Cream Parlour is just up from the mini golf, you walked straight past the park on the beach which is relatively new and the bug open space next to the Brewer's Fayre became a hub of entertainment over the summer with remnants still there for all year round.

Bognor is great for a pint. Plenty of pubs, cheap drink, always showing sport on the tvs. As for living there, not for me.
