Call me a snob but I don't care; you can see the lax in standards throughout. It is clear nobody from Butlins has been through the whole experience and highlighted the lack of hoovering, shoddy painting, stained walles etc like what Tim has. Or they have and taken a financial decision to ignore it. This is a business on its last legs.
I so feel for the room attendants who have to make up those bunk beds! When beds fit so snuggly against the walls like that, they are an absolute mare to make! I've had many a sweary moment doing those in my time! 🤣 But there's no excuse for poor hoovering.
We stayed there in January this year. I am a chef and we were told that they: "ran out of poached eggs, but they had fried eggs if we want them instead!" Think about that for a second...
Yeah, that's grim, but do they even claim that everything's made to order....if nearly everything is batch cooked then they really could run out of something from time to time.
As someone who lives on the coast (Eastbourne) I can relate to the dirty exterior. If you repaint it, it will go green in about a year with the sea air down here. Best to stick to plain brick :)
I am always amazed when I stay at a hotel and the room has stains everywhere. How difficult is it for housekeeping to treat those stains or just do a general once over of the room to look for things like stains on the walls or on the carpet? That suggests to me that either the staff is under a lot of pressure or they just don't care. Neither is acceptable to me as a paying patron.
Great video Tim. Stayed at the Shoreline Hotel this time last year (Rockaway Beach) and having worked on it when it was being built in 2005 I must say it is showing its age a bit. In case anyone is wondering - which I am sure they're not! - I did the drawings for all those internal and external 'Juliet' balconies, also the balustrades on the internal staircases, also those big curved glass balustrades on the south facing balconies, also loads of other little bits and bobs of metalwork like a plant room access ladder if I remember correctly. So it's nice to point out to my friends what bits I did the drawings for, they really appreciate that as you can imagine! 🤣🤣🤣Going there tomorrow for the weekend for this year's Rockaway Beach, not to the Shoreline Hotel but to the Ocean Hotel which was the second hotel to be built on the site. Can't wait!
Lovely video Tim, the hotel looks lovely even with the partial sea view. The carpet and curtains look like it needed a deep clean. It was nice they had something for the kids too.
I used to work at Bognor Butlins and as a rule of thumb. The shoreline is a family hotel for families with younger children. The wave is for families with older children and the Ocean is more for adults. It's a great place to work and a nice place for a holiday. Food can be a bit hit or miss though. :)
I can definitely see that, though when we went with a 2 year old we stayed in the Ocean because it was the only hotel without bunk beds for the kids. The vibe is definitely less Family and more Grown Up Hotel though!
Why would you stay at a Butlins if you didn't have kids? That makes no sense to me lol. For the price of a stay at Butlins, you can get a holiday in Spain where the sea is warm 😊
Hi Tim, love your videos! I work at Butlins Bognor Regis and have done for 10yrs. I just wanted to say (and I know it’s too late now), but if you wanted to go for a walk along the beach, all you need to do is just go through main gate (the one you drive in from) you will see a little gap in the hedge. If you take a left as soon as you walking through the gap, just carry on walking straight and then carry on walking down the pavement for less than five minutes where the corner bends you can take a right and an immediate left by a blue house, you will see the sea front and the promenade. This is the same promenade (just the other end) that you walked in your day visit to Bognor/Butlins back in 2020. Not sure if you would have known this but if you ventured out you will see a cafe call the Lobster Pot, this is one of the best places to outside but local to Butlins if you don’t want to go anywhere into town. I hope that you stay on resort was still a pleasant. I wish to have met you and would have loved to have served you one of my resort famous crepes. But maybe another time when you come down with the family 🙂. Take care of yourself. Dean K.

And the other build that was happening as soon as you walk into the pavilion is going to be the new soft play area, so it will have its own closed off building. If I had that hotel room if I went to Butlin's at Bognor Regis, I definitely would've slept in the top bunk in those bunk beds, being as I am a big kid still and love bunk beds, as well as liking the idea of that rotating disco light in the kids bunk bed room, which I believe is a night light. I've only been to the Skegness Resort though, I've not been to the other Butlin's resorts as of yet.
We literally checked out of that hotel today lol we stayed in 139, the carpet was grey and looked fairly new so clearly you had an old carpet. Food was hit and miss, some nights were quite good but others weren’t great. Was heaving with families everywhere which was quite off putting at times
Just got home from a rewind adults only weekend ,brilliant the fancy dress ball was wow and we got to see Mcbusted all in all our apartment was clean but had a few damage bits . We were where behind the gate to the beach. 9 of us ...we are definitely coming back 😊
Been to butlins bognor regis 3 times and always stayed in shoreline hotel. Last we have been was 5 years ago and stayed in one of the Nelson suite which is the one with balcony. Nice to see how shoreline hotel looks like now. Would like to go back there again even though the kids are bigger now.
Absolutely love your reviews! I would travel around Great Britain with a railcard and staying in a wide range of accommodation! Before the internet so not posted our experiences, myself, a mixture of my daughters and foster children! We stayed in so many interesting places!
I used to work for a hotel who asked for upfront payment for breakfast and most hotels I’ve been to check if you have prepaid or ask you to pay upfront before entering. Honestly I think it is a tactic to try and prevent people complaining and even if they do it is easier to argue a part refund. Tbh from personal experience that “sorry” from the staff sounds like someone wasn’t at the door to get your payment prior to you entering and they were told to get it ASAP. The staff hate it, the guests hate it but management demand those sale figures.
Payment anytime at all is fine, up front, afterwards, etc, apart from one time - at the time you are eating. This is just entirely unprofessional. It's also pointless as if you were going to do a runner and not pay, you'd not sit there taking your time eating and talking about the hotel, you'd already be gone. But, it is Butlins not a 5 star setup. Cheap and cheerful, which is fine :)
Hi Tim. Love watching your videos. Just wondered if you ever get recognised, either by other guests staying in the hotels or out and about whilst you’re filming or by any of the staff at the places where you stay?. 😊
Extremely interesting. I visited Bognor Butlins around 1985 with my then young family. Then it was all chalets and generally rather tatty but there was so much to do for the children. All that seems to be left is the gate that opens onto the promenade! Obviously the accommodation is now vastly better!
Bognor "Spoons" "the Hatters inn" is just over half a mile west of the "wave" entrance down the High st on the junction of Queensway,. PO21 1QT they have small breakfasts for £2.99, and the Chinese China Royal next door has a noon to 3pm buffet for £13 (Summer 2024)
Crunchy hash browns...mmm Now when I go into a hotel room I do a "Tim" and look for stains, and there are just some stains you shouldn't think about. From now on I'll just convince myself previous guests have been throwing tea bags, which I had not considered before! I thought the way they had thought about children in the room design was excellent.
Correction: the vast majority of hotels and motels in America have coffee makers with cups, sugar, artificial sweeteners, powdered cream, etc in the rooms. Furthermore, many if not most, have coffee urns and the amenities in the lobby of the establishments from morning through evening. Tea not so much, but that is a cultural difference.
I've holidayed in Florida and Vegas and have yet to come across any in either the big hotels or the motels I've stayed at? What states will I find this as standard?
@@franrowe8696 they have been in every hotel I've stayed at in Florida. Vegas is the only place I've been in hotels (those along the strip) that didn't have coffee/tea, which I assume is because they want to nickel and dime you. I have been in hotels in Florida, Texas, DC/Maryland, Missouri, and California and they have all had coffee and usually tea as well. I would say it's unusual NOT to have coffee/tea in the room, not the other way around.
@@EspeoniaManga that's good to know, I was treat like an idiot when I asked about these facilities in the hotels/motels I've stayed at. On my next visit I will make it my priority to find one that actually has tea/coffee making facilities. I love a good brew on getting up and before going to bed.
Came here as well to say that most hotels in the USA have coffee makers in the room. When in doubt, check the room descriptions or list of amenities before booking.
@@melinda_coffee_nerd I do check and most hotels I've checked don't have these facilities or even know what I am on about? They are out there just not in the areas I want to stay it seems.
We go Christmas. Get the food package and you get all you can eat breakfast. Gold apartments are pretty good. Reds in the evening that time of year is great fun
Drove past there a few weeks ago and thought just how dirty and run down the exterior and other buildings looked, but £99 wasn't a bad price but it wouldn't encourage me to stay. But enjoyed the look behind the gates and fences
My friend once had me in stitches when he called Butlins Bognor "The Colditz experience by Butlins"... We used to go (with out wives) for the '70s experience.
Omg! curtain clip should come with a trigger alert! I've got a 'thing' about boggies, just talking about them can have me dry heaving, had to go toilet for this one.. We stayed at the Ocean hotel, no need to check it out. It's exactly the same as the room you where in. 🙃🇬🇧
We stay at many different Marriott hotels from budget lines with various kitchen models to the highest end historical hotels. We always get a suite due to our point system and level. I can say we have had amazing experiences all over Europe, Canada, and the US. This line looks like the bottom level Marriott line we would stay in for a night on the way to where we want to end up for a week’s stay.
I hope you get to see this comment Tim, have you ever heard of a holiday park called Allhallows Haven park...I lived in the village abd worked and was allowed as i was a villager and mh garden backed onto park were allowed to use thd facilites. Its situated on the thanes estuary on the kent side. Its really worth you checking out one day
I worked in the kitchens at Butlins one summer many years ago, we had fried eggs then we used to flick them onto a wall a take bets as to which one reached the floor the quickest, those were the eays 😂😂🐣
We stayed there 2 years ago. Around the same time of year. We stopped in The wave hotel and it was nice. Better sea views! Id like to stop in the ocean hotel next time. :)
Hey Tim Gaby and Casper would you be able to do a Vlog review on the new Woodland Village Legoland when it opens in May 2024 as we’ve got a booking at the premium lodge currently under construction looking so forward to it. As always a thumbs up from us. 👍
We stayed there 2 months ago. We stayed at Ocean. Right on the top floor and had a better view but it was not a very nice week. - people smoking underneath - took 2 hours to get to the room they had.1 lift working and 300 people all wanted to check in at the same time. Restaurant was packed and it was so cramped. Will never stay there again
Took the family to Butlins Bognor in December one year. The sea had been rough and flooded the swimming pool! Were given apologies and vouchers to compensate. The vouchers were worth 10x what I had had paid for the holiday! Went home with food for a month!!
So interesting to see what Bognor looks like today. I worked in Bognor about 30 years ago. Looks almost totally different. You needed to ask the staff if they can still live on camp and if they do are the wages knocked in half because of rent, mine was. Yea you had to pay rent to Butlins out of your wages Butlins paid you. Also are staff in the staff canteen sill given 'left overs'? When I was at Butlins whatever people that went full-board had to eat one day we got it the next day!
I’m only a few minutes in watching your video and I have to say the car park looks fantastic! I stayed in Butlins Minehead last September and the car park looked like a huge bomb had gone off in it. Craters and potholes everywhere. The buffet ‘food’ on offer was horrific as well. Accommodation was functional but I wouldn’t be rushing back there tbh.
Just checked and amazingly cheap on 22nd January at Skegness. 4 nights from £40! You can get the best apartment going. The seaside apartment for only £89. Cheaper than living at home at that time of the year!
Think I was that hotel being built when I went went to Butlins when I was a kid. I haven't been to Butlins for 11 years and so much has change big time.
I much prefer the Ocean although that is slightly dated now from when it first opened Wave is the newest. Shoreline is there oldest hotel and I only ever bothered with it once.
I'm going to stay at buttons in may 2024 but I'm going mine head I'm really excited but apparently it got flooded so they are currently doing some work
Ive watched quite a few of your videos now. I'm one of the managers in the company i work for that cleans holiday homes in Sandbanks, Poole. Rumseys of Sandbanks contracts us and one other company, they tend to be high end to be honest but it would be interesting to hear what you think of the cleanliness of our properties
Hi them u definitely have to try the wave hotel because I’ve gone to that for the last three years and the two top floors for the Seaview is amazing and the wave hotel and the ocean hotel kid friendly as they are family hotels as well
Funny you should say it looks a bit like a prison camp - locally it is known as 'Butlitz'! Yes, it is beginning to look very shabby round the edges, despite the major rebuild in the last 20 years. Oh, and I hope you got to see the miles and miles of sandy beach this time round - last time you said it was a pebble beach: you were wrong! All those pebbles were put there in the 80s because the high tides would regularly flood the road and even wash pebbles into the path of cars and stuff. When the tide is fully out, there's a few hundred yards of very gently sloping sand, and it's very difficult to swim in the sea. Many times we could get as far out as a line of small rocks. Yes, I grew up in Bognor, in case you're wondering! Oh, and quite a bit of the original lower level promenade is still there if you go out towards Aldwick (where my family still lives), and that's also where the beach huts are.
Not sure what sort of hotel you stayed at in America that didn’t have coffee, but anywhere I’ve stayed in Canada or the USA has coffee and tea, and now usually a Keurig, Nespresso or Tassimo coffeemaker.
Hi Tim The hotel was ok lovely for the younger children. They have really thought about it. The light in the bedroom would've been popular with the grandchildren when they were younger. Thanks Tim 👍

I stayed in the ocean Hotel in 2016 , we overlooked the fair and sea , it was really nice
Use to be a red coat there and we now have a yearly reunion every year love bognor and butlins
great times
We literally checked out of that hotel today lol we stayed in 139, the carpet was grey and looked fairly new so clearly you had an old carpet. Food was hit and miss, some nights were quite good but others weren’t great. Was heaving with families everywhere which was quite off putting at times
Just got home from a rewind adults only weekend ,brilliant the fancy dress ball was wow and we got to see Mcbusted all in all our apartment was clean but had a few damage bits . We were where behind the gate to the beach. 9 of us ...we are definitely coming back 😊
was there for tots week at the beginning of the month, couldn't fault them we were in one ofthe deluxe suites, was clean, comfortable and up to date
Thank you for showing us around. I’ve never been to a Butlins hotel/camp or Pontins, so it’s very interesting to see what it’s like.
You are too late for Pontins, they all shut January 2024 except for 2 small
adult only ones. Butlins are in talks about buying their Southport site
WWMTim, a very positive start. The parking was outstanding. 👏 👏 😂
😁
When we visit we stay at the Ocean Hotel, never had any issues, very clean, the restaurant is what you would expect but again always clean.
Been to butlins bognor regis 3 times and always stayed in shoreline hotel. Last we have been was 5 years ago and stayed in one of the Nelson suite which is the one with balcony. Nice to see how shoreline hotel looks like now. Would like to go back there again even though the kids are bigger now.
i highly recomend the oceon hotel. if you are on the top floor looking over the park then you can see the oceon as well.
Brilliant review. Seamless editing, and excellent engagement. One of the best UK overviews.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved it. Sometimes miss Gaby and Thumps content, but you owned this.
Hi Tim. Love watching your videos.
Just wondered if you ever get recognised, either by other guests staying in the hotels or out and about whilst you’re filming or by any of the staff at the places where you stay?. 😊
Hi Tim another excellent video and the hotel at Butlins looked okay. The room looked nice you stayed in. Thank you for making this video.
Great vlogs, thanks for sharing!
Extremely interesting. I visited Bognor Butlins around 1985 with my then young family. Then it was all chalets and generally rather tatty but there was so much to do for the children. All that seems to be left is the gate that opens onto the promenade! Obviously the accommodation is now vastly better!
fan from Wairarapa in New Zealand. enjoy your reviews. I find you're commentary informative as well as hilarious.
Bognor "Spoons" "the Hatters inn" is just over half a mile west of the "wave" entrance
down the High st on the junction of Queensway,. PO21 1QT they have small breakfasts
for £2.99, and the Chinese China Royal next door has a noon to 3pm buffet for £13
(Summer 2024)
I've been to Butlins Bognor quite a few times, just this year with a few bands! The Wave Hotel is the best hotel there hands down 😊
Hello Tim 😊 The room was nice. I liked the mood lighting and the light in the kids room was good also. 👍
❤ I been too all three butlins 💙 keep up good work with the videos 💙💙xxx
Nice to see the uPVC window frames that I made years ago actually installed! LOL.
Luxurious i was a part time security officer/medic early 2000 Only called to chalets but im impressed
I stayed in the shoreline hotel with my mum in August 2023 it was really really nice!!☺☺😌😌
Great video Tim the room looked ok apart from the carpet Casper would be in his element there well done x
Its really worth you checking out one day
I had no idea these existed, I remember going to a butlins hotel with my gran in Margate back in I think 98, that’s been closed for years
Hi tim love your videos and i'm from bognor regis and used to work as a kitchen porter in the shoreline hotel
I love your content!! Keep up the great work, much blessings 😊
Not sure what hotels you stayed at in US, but there are always coffee services in the IHG and Hilton hotels I usually stay at. Microwaves as well.
I worked in the kitchens at Butlins one summer many years ago, we had fried eggs then we used to flick them onto a wall a take bets as to which one reached the floor the quickest, those were the eays 😂😂🐣
I'm staying in a wave hotel apartment here over Xmas. Can't wait!
We stayed there 2 years ago. Around the same time of year. We stopped in The wave hotel and it was nice. Better sea views! Id like to stop in the ocean hotel next time. :)
love your videos always fun and interesting ❤
Hey Tim Gaby and Casper would you be able to do a Vlog review on the new Woodland Village Legoland when it opens in May 2024 as we’ve got a booking at the premium lodge currently under construction looking so forward to it. As always a thumbs up from us. 👍
yes of course we want to try them out
@@WalkWithMeTim Thank you very much 😊
It's changed a bit since I first went all inclusive in 1973 but The Beachcomber Bar still exists I see!
I did not know that Butlins still existed. Good that there is something for a family.
You should try the sea view apartments at Butlins Minehead Tim, they're about 7 years old now I believe and they are really close to the beach.
Great video. Was expecting the Gull to swoop and snaffle your Hash Brown 😂
He had his eye on it
Heading to Mighty Hoopla in January next year so it's interesting to see where you can go eat and what the rooms are like!
Wow
Took the family to Butlins Bognor in December one year. The sea had been rough and flooded the swimming pool!
Were given apologies and vouchers to compensate. The vouchers were worth 10x what I had had paid for the holiday! Went home with food for a month!!
Good news 👏
Casper would definitely love the bunk beds when he is a tad older but I think maybe Holly is too old for them 😂
Nice hotel, better than many you have stayed in lol. Enjoy xx
I'm going to stay at buttons in may 2024 but I'm going mine head I'm really excited but apparently it got flooded so they are currently doing some work
This felt a bit more like the earlier days of walking with you and I like it ☺
It was nice of Stephen to come keep you company well you was eating your breakfast 😆🤣👍
😁
You should stay at seal bay resort it’s in West Sussex and it’s got loads of things to do and if u go u should definitely take Gaby and Casper
Hi Tim love the channel . Have you thought about visiting Wembley stadium or other big sports grounds?
Looks good, I can't wait to go back to Butlins.
The bench you're standing at me and the kids call "break bench" Welcome to sunny Bognor!!
you mean for a rest or something else lol
@@WalkWithMeTim haha deffo for a rest! Theres a great cafe just round the corner if you're ever about again !
Hi Tim
The hotel was ok lovely for the younger children. They have really thought about it. The light in the bedroom would've been popular with the grandchildren when they were younger. Thanks Tim 👍
I live quite close to there. We locals joke that the fences are there to keep the guests IN !! :D
