This game and the first Modern Warfare were both my two first COD games and the two first FPS games I ever properly played. At the time when I was kid all I really played was racing games and the occasional fighting game so these were basically my gateway into more adult games at an age where I was waaay to young to be playing them. BO1 in particular is the sole reason why I ended up learning so much about the Cold War when I was younger and why I have such a huge interest in history as a whole now. Safe to say these game are always going to stick with me Even to this day I always make an effort to revisit these old COD games at least once every couple of months

I've always considered Black Ops 1 to be the most "polished" CoD. Engaging Campaign, (mostly) balanced multiplayer, and an excellent co-op zombies mode makes it the top five CoD games of all time.
I remember I hadn't played CoD since number 3. Completely skipped Modern Warfare. I played MW2 and was blown away. The. I got my hands on this campaign, and was truly gobsmacked.

Vid came up on my home page, watched all of it & about to watch the MW2 one lmao. Really liked the easter eggs and references thrown in too! would be dope to see the rest of black ops!
It would be cool to tackle the Zombies portion of the Black Ops saga, even though it’s a different gameplay style, the storyline was one hella simple until Black Ops 3 go too overboard.
This video reminded me why I love BO (and by extension BO2, but only 'cause Menendez is so good a villain) so much. Thanks for bringing my memories back!
Man, I've always loved this game and it was great getting to experience it again through this awesome video. I couldn't agree more about the excellent voice acting for Mason, as well as the entire cast. I remember first learning about this game and that it had Sam Worthington, Ed Harris, and Ice Cube all voicing major parts. I'm unsure of the actor's name who does Woods but he is incredible as well, obviously. The cerebral story was just so fucking cool and showed that CoD campaigns could be imaginative as hell with the right people working on them. Great video, what a blast!
I remember not having the game yet but the demo had carried me through days without internet, then after playing zombies. You never got Mule Kick when playing offline but I never used that. Campaign is something that had a certain “jeneseque”, I don’t think we’ll ever get again. It took a leaf from WAW with the mix of real life clips. Theres too much to say that my basic English won’t be able to do justice.
I really agree with and can relate to The Act Man's take, in that I did not appreciate this game's story until I replayed at an older age and knew a lot more about history and just being able to comprehend what was happening in the game.
@@The_GameShortsJust finished watching. Another great video! So much nostalgia. MW2 and BO1 were the greatest of all time. You just had to be there to experience it. Thanks for the video!
Huh. They just teased Black Ops 6, seems like it will be set some time between 1990 and 2001, maybe jutting back and forth like the games usually do. From the marketing it actually reminds me a lot of this game (so did Cold War but I personally felt that was more fan service than it was authentic), I hope it can capture a similar grittiness and blends fiction with history like this game did. Anyways, awesome video. Only 1k subs is a crime.

@@The_GameShorts currently I have a bunch of low effort let’s play style stuff on my channel. I’ve thought about going down 2 routes to add more quality instead of the quantity. Although I could just integrate them in with the lets play content. 1. Those platinum trophy videos, you know where you document the journey to platinum. 2. Doing something similar to you! Video essay/overview video I feel like a game review could also be done similarly. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you go about making this type of video? Did it take a long time script writing or even researching? I’m not trying to copy you! Don’t get it twisted. Just trying to learn.
@@callmemike__1 I've considered 100% videos before as well!. Script writing takes a decent amount of time. I usually write the title of video and create thumbnail, then work on script. While writing script, I do research. Then I record all gameplay, noting any necessary changes needed for script. Then editing. Depending on your level of editing.. this can take a long time. I had no idea how to edit when I started so it still takes me a while. The intro for this video took me a long time, due to adding my own song of choice and having to layer sound fx over it.. total hours on this project probably ... 50-60??.. that's a guess though..
Black Ops changed my life for tbe better, made me look up history,U.S. History and reading about Vietnam reading about CIA Government operations, secrets, and experiments. Goddamn this game is fantastic
In terms of innovation and gameplay? Imo, no. MW2 was superior and Black Ops arguably was a step back with less content with a copy paste format and arguably was more worthy of a DLC price tag. In terms of a written Campaign? Black Ops is one of the best FPS Campaigns ever written. So much so it might arguably justify it's release price. Imo it's a Top 5 Call of Duty Campaign. One or two things hold it back from being even higher but it's still so freaking good. Not to mention, Alex Mason is one of the most important FPS protagonists in gaming since he was the first CoD protagonist to actively speak as you play as them.
Bo1 was a much better game what are you on we agree on the campaign being the best but bo1 zombies knocks spec ops so hard out of the water it’s not even funny, say what you will about the multiplayer but the COD points system in bo1 along with the wager matches was the best the series has ever seen, the create a class was excellent too, where you could just pick to unlock a certain gun plus attachment and you didn’t need to do a billion other things to unlock it. People always accuse black ops of copy paste compared to MW when really infinity ward may pioneer the system but Treyarch refines it/polishes it almost every time. When you factor in Zombies, mw2 has always felt like it had LESS content to me. There’s one out of these two games that I’ve been playing semi consistently ever since it’s release date more than a decade ago, I’ve been playing it that long, it never gets any updates hasn’t in a decade and I still never grow tired of it no matter how much time passes, and it’s not mw2.
@@Crackedcripple Now hold up, I never said Black Ops was a bad game. In fact, Black Ops is my first CoD and my first M Rated game so I have nothing but love for it. But everything I said is true. Zombies is pretty fun of course but it’s not nearly as groundbreaking as it was in WaW with only 7 maps at maximum, 3 in base game and while not bad, BO1 is agreed mostly to be the worst Zombies from WaW - BO3. Meanwhile Spec Ops has 23 Missions in total, a lot you have to actually work to unlock by doing the missions certain ways alone or with your buddies. A good variety of missions types while Zombies is only a few maps with one mode. The unique maps do help but ultimately Bo1 is lacking content for its third mode compared to MW2. The CoD points and Wager Matches are fun but it’s not a huge addition and the create a class system is almost exactly like MW2 with a few new perks and such. Black Ops is a bit more polished than MW2 but is a patch worth a full price tag? I don’t think so. Many other games do what CoD does for free. My argument isn’t that Black Ops is bad. My argument is that what Black Ops offers compared to MW2 doesn’t justify being a full priced video game at launch. Black Ops would have worked better as a DLC for MW2 than its own game, which is fair.
I watched this just after replaying the game. While I disagree with some of your opinions on particular levels overall I don't think personal preference overshadows how much you nailed the stuff you got right. I think the fact that there are still enough people playing that you can get a lobby is a testament to how strong this game was. Not only was the campaign fantastic but Zombies and Multiplayer really innovated in ways that newer COD games refuse to. They really said to themselves: "Hey what if we did something we thought was cool and made the most badass 1960s experience possible?" Even the levels that you could claim were "derivative" like the mission in the Blackbird - similar to the AC-130 mission from COD4 - were unique and interesting in their own way. Also I haven't seen anyone mention the graphics that you did for the video but I think it's worth mentioning how cool they were and that they really added to the overall fun vibe of the video. Good job man, the view and like count on this video speak for themselves. Wish you great success!
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a long comment! Thank you for noticing my effort, I really appreciate it! Hopefully black ops 6 has the same amount of depth!

Wow! This is a throwback Bo1 was my childhood next to og Modern warfare 1 this video was great my guy
Thanks!
I love these videos just explaining the cod campaigns you need more views fr
Thank you!. Appreciate the feedback and thank you for watching!
Vid came up on my home page, watched all of it & about to watch the MW2 one lmao. Really liked the easter eggs and references thrown in too! would be dope to see the rest of black ops!
Thanks man! I appreciate it
It would be cool to tackle the Zombies portion of the Black Ops saga, even though it’s a different gameplay style, the storyline was one hella simple until Black Ops 3 go too overboard.
Yeah... That'll be a long video for sure..
Paint it black in the intro hit so God damn hard for some reason
Yeah I believe it was a good fit!
This game is like rewatching an awesome classic movie like Lord of Rings.
You’ve got style my guy. This video was awesome.
+1 sub.
Thank you for watching and for the kind words! It means a lot.
No problem! I’m excited for what you cover next!
Would you call this your favorite cod campaign?
@@DiptenLive this or black ops 2.
in my opinion vorkuta is the most iconic mission in any cod game
Probably goes no Russian then vorkutaw
This video reminded me why I love BO (and by extension BO2, but only 'cause Menendez is so good a villain) so much.
Thanks for bringing my memories back!
No problem!
Wow, I watched this video just like watching a movie. The memories, it was so entertaining thank you so much for your work!
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching!
Thank you for the kind words! And of course, stay tuned for more! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@The_GameShorts Absolutely, my good man! I'm subbed up now so it's on!
Yeah. The campaign had a style to it that's for sure. Thank you for watching.
Dont even get me started on why Reznov is easily the best character in all of COD
I was 12 when it came out, best campaign in the series. I was so enthralled I stayed up all night to beat it
Excellent video one of my favorite cods, thanks man
Thank you for watching!
Wow I was really took back when I saw that video only had 7k views.
Great work on this video
Thank you so much man. I really appreciate it
I really agree with and can relate to The Act Man's take, in that I did not appreciate this game's story until I replayed at an older age and knew a lot more about history and just being able to comprehend what was happening in the game.
Had your channel recommended, i loved the editing reminiscing about the campaign
Thank you man! Appreciate you watching.
The “eyebrow edit” that whole section at 6minutes in was great.
Thank you for noticing man! Tried to fit the black ops motif
So happy to see another video from you. Your MW2 video was legendary! Can’t wait to watch this one!
I really appreciate the kind words man! I hope you enjoy it as much as the last one!
@@The_GameShortsJust finished watching. Another great video! So much nostalgia. MW2 and BO1 were the greatest of all time. You just had to be there to experience it. Thanks for the video!
Another excellent retrospective and nostalgia trip! Treyarch made 2 masterpieces with this game and BO2.
Black ops 2... Great game.. but... I've got some hot takes for sure. Loved the campaign though.
You deserve the sub, great video🗣️🔥
Thank you man!
Dang man I really appreciate the kind words! I hope black ops is a return to form for the series... I hope.
Really great video, hope you make more in the future
Thanks man! Working on another now.. but it's not call of duty so it may kill my channel lol we will see
Vorkuta was probably my most replayed mission growing up. That whole level is 10/10 iconic
I remember at the time of release I was more interested in Halo Reach and I remember people Preferring Modern Warfare 2 over this. Having played through it tho, I Love it.
This is great. Black ops holds a special place within me. Its more than a game, its a special, close friend
Who’s tried jumping into the helicopters’ blades at the part before you board the boat at 40:30
I haven't haha. But next time I will try
For what seems to be only 5 vidoes on your channel (outside of shorts) this is some damn good work.
Thank you very much for the kind words man! Yes I started out with shorts..but quickly found my passion to be longer form videos. I really appreciate you watching and commenting, means a lot!
@@callmemike__1
I've considered 100% videos before as well!.
@@The_GameShorts thank you for that insight! I do appreciate it.
Black Ops changed my life for tbe better, made me look up history,U.S. History and reading about Vietnam reading about CIA Government operations, secrets, and experiments. Goddamn this game is fantastic
Holy shit amazing video, and i know im dogpiling but vorkuda best mission rip sergie the streets will always remember you.
Haha thanks man! Appreciate you watching
I agree with you about the campaign, one of the best
Really good video! Enjoyed the whole thing 🙏
Thank you man!
Really well done with this vid!!!❤❤
Thank you so much!
To me this is the best call of duty black ops game in the black ops series. Only thing good about black ops 2 is the campaign I thought the multiplayer was horrible in black ops 2 and the maps where horrible
I don't know if I go that far... But I do prefer bo1 to bo2
I don't think any amount of words really describes the magic of Black Ops. I'll keep watching all these longform videos about it though.
