    This light is brighter than the Aputure 1200d AND the Nanlux Evoke 1200b with no modifiers!

    These reviews are an incredible resource not only for figuring out what equipment will suit my needs, but also for learning! Never thought about the lenses fogging like that, I guess the engineers at GODOX didn't either xD

    Great video as always, but for me. One of the key reasons, i got into these COB led fixtures was because they were a lot lighter, smaller easy to pack down, and move around. Recently, the makers of these fixtures have now made them bigger than my 1.2k HMI's!!

    15:00 had me giggle not gonna lie.
    But seriously this looks great.
    Although when it comes to tge fan noises.. I'm pretty sure 99% of people will use it outdoors to light interiors anyway.
    Unless you're doing high speed capture maybe? But then sound isn't even recorded

    I love this light! Agreed on all your thoughts, I bought it for the spotlight mount but went with the reflectors in the end for weight, and output. Didn't realize there was a drum barrel for the 15 degree relfector, I'm going to try and get one to nest the reflectors in rather then the large case they come in!

    Thanks for another video Andrew, great content as always.
    Will you be reviewing any of the new Amaran “S” series of lights with the updated color engine and improved photometrics? Would love to see maybe a comparison between something like the Amaran 100X vs the 100X s, or any of the lights in comparison.
    Also, any video coming soon about the Aputure infini-bars? Interested to see how it comparies to Helios or Titan tubes from Astera.

    Thank you, Andrew...another amazing review! When you were speaking about the balance with the fresnel and barn doors, it seems that if the yoke was reversible, it might have helped solve that challenge. I assume you tried that, and it was not possible. I'm surprised that after all these years of your projection mount reviews, and complaining about them not rotating, new models STILL often don't rotate (Likely there are some that have listened) . Have there been any companies that involved you in very early stage product development, where there was an opportuity for you to provide your wisdom, and describe the pain points, and desired features or designs, early enough that they could integrate yoru ideas before first run manufacture? I know some of them have created fixes based on your (and others') feedback, and I love seeing when that happens!

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  11 месяцев назад +1

      If you reverse the yoke you can't tilt the fresnel down at all in flood

  • @wileyvisuals5714
    @wileyvisuals5714 11 месяцев назад

    Regarding the weight/balance with the fresnel, Is the yoke reversible to shift the balance slightly?

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  11 месяцев назад +2

      But then you can't tilt down, the fresnel in flood hits the yellow rubber stoppers on the stirrup almost straight away.

    Have you yet found yet found a fixture that would be a genuine suitable replacement for a tungsten etc source four zoom? they all seem to have huge down sides, are bulky, expensive and lack crucial operaton like barrel rotation.
    and interesteingly you dont seem to have a review for the etc lustr, is the a reason why?

    • @gaffergear

      I sold it, too big and heavy for me. It was a hard decision because it was such a good light.
      At the end of the day I work out of small vans, and even though the evoke 1200B isn't as good in a lot of ways, I fit 4 of them into a small space.

    Dumb question, but what are those wires for with a fresnel?

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  6 месяцев назад

      Reduce light levels.
      Red is 1 F-Stop
      Green is 1/2 F-Stop
      They are also available in graduations so one side of the beam can be brighter than the other.

    Hi! Can you do a review of the GVM SD 600D? I’m very skeptical about that LED and can’t find a proper review online 🥹

    • @shadowshapers
      @shadowshapers 11 месяцев назад +3

      I would steer clear of that brand of lights. They’re not very high quality.

    • @bene9988-zd6oy
      @bene9988-zd6oy 8 месяцев назад

      I have few of the new pro series on hands, which is the GVM PRO650B as my key light and 300B at a lower intensity as head light. They are doing great at that pricing point, but the SSI rating,(Artificial light standard rating index, ) Output no good enough copmared to Aputure600, Nanlite. The pin point is that GVM doesn't support firmware update, surely it's bit shabby for this kind of stuff like lighting system itself. In a nut shell, if the pricing and funcs align with your expectations, that would be enough.

    • @joeaddison
      @joeaddison 6 месяцев назад

      Had someone ask me for help with their gvm 600 watt, two minutes later the light stopped working. Unit just failed two days after purchase. Gvm is a heavy avoid in my opinion
