Honest to God Harley Poe has to be one of the most authentic sounding bands I've ever listening to, every guitar string and crackle in his voice just increases the beauty and honesty of his music, I don't really agree with your thoughts of it just being about monsters however. I'd love for Harley Poe to do what Pat the Bunny/Ramshackle Glory/Wingnut Dishwasher Union/Hobo Johnson and the Frieght Trains (jesus he had a lot of bands) did and really put his feelings on life and his personal experiences in song.
Joe recently uploaded some videos on RUclips doing Q&As. He's stated multiple times that he created Harley Poe to write songs about his love for monsters and to pay tribute to horror movies. He also made a point to say that he wrote many of his songs about his fears and insecurities. If you really listen to them, he's pouring his guts out and reveals to everyone his problems and deepest secrets. Idk what more you could ask for. He's pretty much as authentic as it gets.
With the addition of have a great life, it seems Harley poe is now an even split between horror and depression. Personally I love both, excited to see where they go in the future
So, now that 5 years have passed, have you been able to listen to the 7 Inches? They definitely tore that iteration of the band apart at the time but it’s my favorite thing we ever did. I was the guitjo/ guitar player for about 6 years. Great video, by the way!
That's awesome man, thanks for laying down some great tracks. I did get to listen to it, and while it definitely is my favorite direction the band has taken there's a handful of tracks I really like from it. I absolutely love I Am The Man.
@@BillyCobbOfficialI realized after looking you up I’ve listened to your zerwee albums in the past and love them. I’ll be digging deeper into your discography. (There’s so much!) What’s your favorite release of yours?
@@westhesoikid my favorite is probably my 2021 self titled album, I also really like my “2007” ep and my Halloween VII ep. One of my other favorite released is Scéance/Affair which is is a single with a b-side.
You have almost the exact opposite opinions to me in regards to Harley Poe, but it's still good to see some appreciation for such a good underground band!
I REALLY WANNA KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF 'HAVE A GREAT LIFE' WHICH CAME OUT AFTER THIS VIDEO. MEAT BAG IS A GREAT SONG AND I THINK JOE'S RENDITION OF PSYCHO IS HONESTLY UNDERRATED
Joe probably also got Old Woman All Skin and Bone from Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark. I also discovered Harley Poe is almost the same way you did. I was just searching for The Hearse Song when I found them.
For me, Spotify recommended transvestites can be cannibals too, I loved it and listened to it on repeat for half an hour, then did a deep dive into their discography
We have pretty similar taste in Harley Poe albums, In The Dark is definitely their masterpiece. It’s been in my regular rotation since it was released. I actually grew up in Kokomo, IN and have seen them perform live plenty of times. Joe is one of the nicest dudes ever. Nice Donnie Darko costume btw.
the first song I ever heard by harley poe was the hearse song one day when my christian grandparents played it and the whole family listened to it and realized how fucked it was
I feel like you listen to Harley poe songs for the monster/chaotic parts, instead of listening because you support the band, and their music. Dont get me wrong, I think you like how they sound, but I feel like you would rather have an album of all “kokomo” type songs, instead of what Joe wants to write about.
I'm roughly Joe's age, and I went through a divorce at the same time he did. I've loved Harley Poe for years , but the album 'Falling Down' came for me at the perfect time. You may be right overall, but It's way higher on my list for personal reasons. if you like Harley Poe, check out Andrew Jackson Jihad (or AJJ now), but if you like Harley Poe, there's an 85% chance you'll like AJJ. - Brave is a noun: ruclips.net/video/N9vzxzjsv6g/видео.html

Well, he kinda did that in his last 2 albums

@@cameronc.362 I wrote that 2 years ago, I've definitely stopped taking his songs at face value lol
It's Johnny Hobo and the freight trains.
@@natecraft1908 haha... that shit made me laugh. Nobody's perfect but c'mon...
Damn, only if Uke Puke was out at that time. the Corpse Grinding Man remake on that album was a masterpiece of its own
Just to let ya know, Fallen Down was actually recorded completely on Joe's phone
That explains a lot
"The production" lol it has none.
I really like it though, i think it proves you don't really need shit but talent to make music

Discovering Harley Poe this year has been one of the few upsides of 2020
"A funny little song about a necrophiliac"
It would be fun doing a 2023 update to this list
I'm curious about what's your opinion on their last albums era
Agreed. I love the new album
Harley Poe is my favorite band of all time. They don't have a single song that I dislike.
@@maximusdellaporta6444 Fool, that song is amazing.

You should definitely do another one of these with the new albums, I love this video
Thanks for introducing me to Harley Poe! I definitely will go check them out!!!!!
Amazing stuff! I'm extremely excited for the next Halloweek!

AND SEVEN INCHES OF HELL (again)
I was listening to his Halloween albums, and i realized the was totally inspired by harley poe, this video showcased that
I'm gonna need to see an updated version of this now that Harley Poe released a lot more music
Joe probably also got Old Woman All Skin and Bone from Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.
I also discovered Harley Poe is almost the same way you did. I was just searching for The Hearse Song when I found them.
Yea that's where he got the songs. Joe is even going to be in the upcoming documentary about Scary stories to tell in the dark.

Donny Darko?
There are great artists that record entire records on USB microphones. Check out Molly Drag
