The Story of Dimrain47

- Before RUclips, one of the biggest sites for sharing stuff online was Newgrounds. The website was at the height of it's popularity in the mid-2000s, and during that time, a certain musician rose to huge fame. Starting out as just another musician, they quickly rose to legendary status and are remembered to this day. But how did they get where they are? Where are they now? This is the story of Dimrain47.
Welp, that took a while, but it's finally done. Whooh. I got the idea for this video all the way back in summer 2018, and I've been working on it on-off ever since. There were a few setbacks along the way, but now I can finally say that I am one massive step closer to my dream. Half an hour documentary, please enjoy!

dimrain, person who made space song that gd thought was hell song
Is falling Myst's a space song? Because you know, used in so many hell levels
@@xephenatsu5009 I think he meant Dimrain's infamous song, At The Speed of Light (ATSOL).
It's space-themed, but most people associate it with either Cataclysm, Bloodbath, Aftermath, or other hell-themed levels.
amsyar zerø I know he was referring ATSOL, but I was asking if TFM is also space themed since it is also used in so many hell levels
@@xephenatsu5009 Oh yeah, sorry. TFM probably can be categorised as space-themed too.

I'm surprised by how well researched and how smooth the editing is, definitely better than anything I could've made. It's was interesting to look at Dimrain's past because as you said, his time on Newgrounds has faded to obscurity

The only remaining piece is ATSOL.

Honestly dimrain deserved better. His talent is very often overshadowed by certain community. Im glad he is now a music teacher and I hope he stays that way.
I can't agree more with The Falling Mysts being such a fitting song for his latest song to date because it just seems to tell an epic story that could really be depicting some sort of end. Anyways these have been really informative and imo well spent 33 minutes. I already knew about him being a music teacher but this just showed me much more about a person whose music so many people admire (including me). Great job on and thank you for creating and releasing this fod.
Fun fact: The Falling Mysts was one of the first songs I ever downloaded outside from GD.
That would be a better ending then something like The Disturbance

Just by starting the video I can say that the one thing that you could improve is pacing, as it's kinda slow as it is now. Just a simple thing I thought I'd let you know
I suggest viewers to listen at 1.25x :)

Wow. I just watched a 30 minute video without realizing it until you mentioned it. Like, I rarely watch 30 min videos. Editing must have sucked me in, research was done well too. Nice video!
Beautiful, splendid! Thanks for this documentary :)
This video only appears on my recommended 3 days after it was published.
RUclips algorithm must be broken.
This video is amazing, very well informed with things I didn't know back then.
I have been a fan of him since 2011/2012, and I do remember doing my own "investigation" back in like 2014 I think, I did find out he was in a band and that he is also a Music Teacher, tho I didn't know Forsaken Neon was layered from another song or all the controversies surrounding him, but I remember reading something about it on the YT comments of his videos, I guess I just didn't pay much attention to it.
Now I'm just glad he's coming back, I hope he comes to stay for a longer time.
hahahaha he is back

I watched this entire video in amazement, definantly sharing this with all my friends!
I've been waiting so long for this video. Thank you.
I'm a huge fan of Dimrain, and I'm very happy to see a documentary about him. I've learned things from this like the album and the copyright situation. I've heard him on NG but I've never seen his haters... Not that I really cared. I enjoy his music and even if he never returns, these songs will remain.
You did a great job, this HAS to be the definitive Dimrain documentary. Thank you for your huge work!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEO

dimarain is one of my favorite composers
not only because of his original and iconic songs
and oh man... I miss him so much like a lot of NG composers who has quit
HE'S BACK
Dimrain47 has a facebook account (as in his private Clayton Tremmel acc). Near the days when he changed his name, it was also revealed that he got married and had a child.
Yeah, I know that, but I excluded it from the video because I feel like that's going to a bit too personal level. I wanted this to primarely be about Dimrain47 as the legend we know him as, and not about the person behind, although I still included info about that to complement Dimrain's story :)
Whoooooa! This is so cool! I can’t believe I found this! And so fast after it was uploaded!
Beautiful Video. Thank you so much for your effort on making this documentary at your finest best! This video gave me lots of nostalgia near the start and the end. I was waiting to see if you would talk about the level Forsaken Neon by Zobros since that is my top favorite level ever made in GD history. Once again, thank you for this great video and hope to see more videos on such creators like Dimrain47. Much love man.

Man, great job on this video! It's really interesting, and I had no idea about basically anything here. I can't imagine how much effort you put into this!
And then he finds a song he lost and released it to everyone, truly, a tragic loss for our ears, i really love his music.
i see a massive inspiration from lemmino in your editing and overall documentary style

Wow, that was a really nice video. Cheers for making that!
Totally worth my 30 minutes, 10/10 would watch again.
Story of Dimrain47.
Once upon a time, there was a revolutionary artist that was extremely slept on.
Then, he went on Newgrounds, and his music blew up.
Then, sadly, he stopped.
Sadly, that's the end....
To be continued, we hope.
Very well done video, look forward to ones like this in the future!
I am SO happy that I was recommended this, such a great video
Great video. Reminds me of sea's gd videos... Thank you for that :)
"newgrounds is a website..."

Amazing video! I loved it. Also, I love the ending of the vid. Great job!
Edit: Maybe one day we'll learn more about Dimrain47, but even if not, he will always be remembered by me and the entire GD community for making arguably the most influential song in GD history.
I’ve always loved Dimrain47 since his songs got popular in GD. Thank you for the documentary! It’s so well put together and I enjoyed learning about his career as a music artist. Bravo 👏🏻
I wish he returns, i love his music and his style.
Really interesting video man! Also wow, I must credit you for doing such a long video. It must've taken ages to plan, record and edit, considering the fact that it is very good-looking and polished. Keep up the good work, you've earned yet another new subscriber :)
EDIT: I got an idea, that he changed his surname from Judd to Tremmel when getting married. It is not too common that the husband would change his surname, but it is possible. (not sure if it where he lives tho) At least in Finland it is possible: one of my relatives changed his surname when getting married even tho he was the husband :P
Dimrain getting married was the first thought I had too, but considering that it's his mom's surname, that would imply that he got together with his sister :v
@@HJfod well yeah, lets's hope that's not the case xd
However, the relative I mentioned had gotten his surname changed after marriage, took his mother's maiden name.. But yeah, that goes quite far on the side of speculation :v
Thank you for putting so much effort in to this video. Instantly. Subbed.

I have to say, this is an epic video, and this is coming from a GD Veteran and a fan of Techno/Trance (Two common music genres in old Dance Dance Revolution games), I didn't know that dimrain sampled his favorite song for Forsaken Neon but why was everyone overeacting about this, don't DJs sample songs most of the time.
Can you make a video abour Rukkus/ NIGHTkilla/Realistic, please?
Hyke LP holy shit yes, I have no idea what happened to NK, his music was amazing and is still some of the best I’ve heard

I’m so glad you made this video great job dude
I wish dimrain would come back, but after 7 years of inactivity that’s probably not going to happen. good video though! It reminds me a lot of SEA’s longer content.
i was like : i swear on robtop if you dont mention at the speed of light im gunna ...
This video is perfect, I didn't even think that someone from RUclips even remember the creations of Dimrain47. You gave me a lot of new information, thank you!
Congratulations, the algorithm has smiled upon you, well deserved for such an informative and well-edited video.
I've been getting so many comments on this recently, idk why RUclips suddenly decided to start spreading this again but it's awesome :)
I’m not sure if you know this, but since Dimrain47 was active again and posted a song to his yt, he also uploaded all of his music to Spotify. He even added a small bio about himself there, stating that he decided not to fully pursue a music career, but as a hobby. He also states that he now lives in California as a happily married man with 2 kids. What a great way to bring a story to a close :D (oh and his name is confirmed to be Clayton Tremmel btw)
Am aware, been listening to his stuff on Spotify constantly for the past month ;D
Also I found info on him being married before he returned, but I didn't include it in the documentary because the way I got that info would've made it full-on doxxing
Dude I literally fucking love dimrain and I've been curious about his past and who he really was this video is amazing THANK YOU
Thank you so much for this! It's really great to learn about this, I guess it's time I go listen to Dimrain's music again hehe
Thank you so much for this video. I have been wanting answers on a few loose ends I discovered ever since early 2017, when I discovered Geometry Dash, and subsequently Dimrain47. This is by far the best Geometry Dash related video I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. It also has me thinking about doing an interview with Clayton himself, so... who knows? Maybe soon we’ll know everything about his story.
this is so interesting. i didn’t know he even had this much history.

Dimrain is back. Just uploaded to his newgrounds account not to long ago.
Actually we cannot consider him to be back as of right now since, as he stated it himself, it's "An unreleased track from 2006."
EDIT : Forget it, I didn't read his NG post on december, we can expect some new one too
Ah, true.

I only know this guy for *At the Speed Of Light*
That was a very long documentary! I first knew Dimrain47 from playing Flash games on Newgrounds back in 2006, as people who made games for Newgrounds put his music in their games. I absolutely loved his style of techno/trance music and downloaded his songs back then. I'm glad that his music didn't fade into obscurity thanks to the Geometry Dash community.
I love how you turn little things into big things. Like saying “Operation: Evolution” you made it sound so entertaining!
This is very good documentary yes. Great job man!
