As someone from Houston you truly did Houston food justice when picking these places, I love it! For bbq here, you have to ask them for extra moist brisket. Otherwise depending on where they cut it may be dry like you experienced.
Translation, you ask for the point end of the brisket. What was shown in the video was the flat end. It is leaner, although if cooked well, should not be dry, just not as juicy as the point.
💯
For $3 a cookie, you bet I’d be eating that off the floor if I dropped it 😂
😂😂😂
5 sec.rule 😊😅😋
Lol! Same
As a Houstonian, thank you for trying our food. love your channel so much❤
loving the food tours! just wanted to say thanks for always keeping it real, i always appreciate that about your videos :)
Aw you’re so sweet thank you!!! Appreciate you 🥰🥰
I HIGHLY recommend doing a food tour in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Most people only go to New Orleans when they come to visit Louisiana but we have good food all around the state. There are a lot of great restaurants, including some amazing local Asian restaurants. And of course, there's plenty of cajun/creole food to go around. I have so many recommendations for where to go for the best crawfish, red beans and rice, fried seafood, soul food, etc.
Hey! As a Texan, I’m glad you’re trying out the stuff here! It’s pretty good!
Haha yay! It was my first time visiting Texas and i was so excited! 😁
I've lived in Houston my whole life but wow! Still so many restaurants my family and I need to try! Thanks to you we decided to try Pinkerman's BBQ for the first time, you were right, those glazed ribs were delicious!! And the brisket was amazing as well. We will definitely be going back there. We wanted to originally try Truth's BBQ but the line was so long out the door! Maybe next time :)
So proud to see my city’s food getting appreciation from one of my favorite youtubers 🥰
love how genuine these are
Aw thank you so much!!! Appreciate you!! 🥰🥰
As someone from Houston, it was so cool seeing all these places and scenery I recognized! Great selection of places for sure and you definitely gave me a few new places to try! So glad you tried Blood Bros and liked it! My uncle is one of the pitmasters :) Glad you had such a good time here.
I’m so happy that you enjoyed Houston! As a Houstonian this makes me so proud 🥹 🧡
omg you came to my university!! I hope you had a nice time in Houston :)
I like to pretend what your eating is what I'm eatin, I'll be eating a bag a chips and you'll be eating BBQ lmao 😭
Earliest I've been to a video too
Literally obsessed with your food tour videos MeiMei! 😍🙌💕
Houston is such a Mecca for delicious food; it’s one of my favorite cities to eat in 😆 You showed me a few places on my must try list for next time! Pit Room is my favorite for bbq- Truth Bbq for the sides 😉
I agree with the pit room they have the best brisket. Pinkerton's best side dish is the duck jambalaya.
@@Mom_meals10min Yes, their duck jambalaya is sooo good!
so cool to see you try koláče!! i think what you tried would be considered a “buchta” but the bottom row in the display you showed is what i would really call a koláč. from what i know texas has a large czech immigrant population and there is even a unincorporated community called “praha” in texas which is how you say prague in czech!!
For Texas BBQ, get the moist brisket. It's the fattier and juicier cuts of brisket.
yeaaaa gotta get the moist brisket!!!
While kolaches have a Czech origin, a lot of the mom and pop kolache shops around town are run by Cambodians. Multiculturalism is how Houston runs!
RIP fallen cookie! I get as sad as you did when I drop food! 😅
Kolache are a Czech speciality, but we don't typically do them salty. The most typical are filled with tvaroh (something like cottage cheese/cream cheese), poppy seed or plum filling
That sounds kind of like a Danish sweet pastry.
I’m from the Bay Area (San Jose) too. Now I know how others feel when watching your videos around town and can’t go cuz they live out of state. That food looks so good in Texas. 💗
So... that was a medium SODA... the medium shake is 20oz... but you can get a large shake which I believe is the 32oz size.. LOL. Dr Pepper shakes are THE best.
Crisp/crunchy exterior with a chewy interior
I KNOW, I am being very, very extra. I apologize. I hate texas; I truly hate everything this state is, but there is ONE exception: BBQ. You still have not had true Texas BBQ. Again: I HATE texas. My maternal line has been here for 176 years. I was not born here; I was not raised here. I see it and them differently.
Smoked brisket is never, never ever better than in texas. It is the one thing I can give them, and you never saw it. I am truly sad, for you about that. Most BBQ here is not good. Think about sourdough. Is all sourdough great? No.not all BBQ is great, and most of the people in texas are transplants… I am telling you: you still have not had texas bbq.
I’m not a brisket fan but I totally agree with your first paragraph 😊
I am an Austrian, but I was born in Houston. Goung to the Breakfast Klub, you brought back some good memories :))
meimei!!! i’ve been following u for some time and have even used some of ur videos as a reference guide while traveling in california 💗 now ur in my home!!! so many of the spots u visited are right in my backyard and with work and life i havent had the chance to try!!! but now im so excited to use ur houston videos to try new places in the city i love so much but rarely get to enjoy 😊 thank you for coming to houston!!!! ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Pretentious Houstonian Foodie here, you did a good job with your selection of restaurants! I want a part 3.
That’s crazy that you’re in Houston! I live in TX and my sister is going to Rice college in Houston next year. I hope you enjoyed your time there and maybe Dallas next?? 😀
Omg awesome!! We visited Rice’s campus briefly and it was beautiful!! Omg yesss i wanna go to Dallas!!
I like both cookies. I like hard and soft ones..the chips ahoy chewy is my all time to snack on. But my favorite favorite cookie is the Macadamia white chocolate cookie.... mmmm my favorite one ever.
You can ask specifically for moist brisket. Some people prefer moist, some prefer lean. If you don't specify, they'll give you whichever...
lol...I almost screamed when I realized that you went to Killen's and didn't try the BBQ. It is hands down the best of the first three you went to. I didn't know about Blood Bros., so now I have to visit. So awesome that you were able to visit both my favorite Breakfast spot and my favorite Tex-Mex spot. I'm glad you enjoyed Houston!
Next time you get bbq, moist brisket always!
Try the onion rings at Whataburger next time.
It’s really cute seeing all of the Texans (especially Houstonians) being proud in the comment section
the kata robata skewers changed my life
As a Houstonian you definitely highlighted alot of really good spots to eat at. Love these 2 episodes!!! You did Houston proud!!!
hi meimei!! I love all the food vlogs!! I have states (for gymnastics) this sundayyyy! do you know any good boba spots in redwood city?? thank youuu
Hey Meimei!!! I love watching your videos, you always make my day happier! :) I recommend trying Italian food, I’m very Italian haha!!
I love Bird. Such a sweet cinnamon roll. You just want to hug that man.
Those are like pigs in a blanket, I'm Czech and real kolaches is pastry with fruit on top. If you were come back you need to check out Hruska's in Ellinger, Tx or The Czech Stop in West,Tx.
A friend of mine worked at the original Kolache Shoppe here. I do know as many Texans that the meat ones are Klobasneks. They are so handy for morning commutes that they have overshadowed the fruit Kolaches.
I love dumplings 😋 😍
Didn't tell us about the cider
I am adding this, later. I could not remember the name of the food truck I wanted you to visit. It is TJ Food Truck. They make only a few things: breakfast. They make breakfast, and are not open past 2pm. The Chinese people around me agree that it is exactly like what they got at home. TJ Food truck is very close to Eck Bakery…
Oh, well. I hope I am paying attention, the next time you come. I am an admitted Anglo, but I believe I have an educated palate. Also, I am from SoCal, so my original tastes are not so far from yours…if not a bit diluted. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰💋💋💋 6:18 I am telling you: the best restaurant I know (and it is well loved, by former citizens of China) is Fufu. It was literally 3 doors down from Eck.
Loving your videos, everything looks so yummy🤤🤩
As someone who lives in Bellaire, it's awesome to see you try so many spots I visit/pass by myself haha :)
The next time you’re in Houston hit up burger-Chan
One of the best spots in Houston imo
You don't put sauce on TX BBQ, that's blasphemy. If you have to put sauce on it, then it's not done right. If you thought pork ribs was the best of TX BBQ, you are absolutely wrong. You haven't had TX BBQ until you've had beef ribs. Also in many places you can ask for moist brisket as opposed to lean brisket. The cuts you seem to have gotten looks more of the lean brisket variety. While Austin and surrounding areas are more well known for TX bbq, Houston has some very good ones as well. You should've tried Corkscrew BBQ and Brett's.
chewy cookies
eck - u got to get the mango mochi next time!
damn u gone to more bbq places than me - did you get moist brisket?
I personally like killen's bbq the best - but i havnt been to two in ur video so i cant compare - but ur brisket didnt look that moist and looked more lean
blood bros bbq is no good imo and if that was the tenderest to you then killen would be way better or even rudys! - but the sides are good at blood bros
how long were u in houston?
I agree with another commenter that you should try Pappas: Pappasitos and Pappadeaux. Come back and try more of our Tex Mex like Pappasitos in Kirby, or Ninfas or Lupe’s. There’s nothing wrong with going to bigger establishments, cos they’re successful for a reason. Also viet cajun is a thing but you should also try Pappadeaux or a cheaper one is Orleans in Katy.
You are a JOY! This video, as all your content, was delightful😘
I’m both Thai and American (have a house in both Houston and Bangkok). I just ordered Thai spicy soup yesterday which I love from Asia Market Thai Lao Food: Tom Saap. So delicious!😊
DUDE watching this was great. I was curious about food to try, and suddenly I SEE MYSELF! I am a bartender at cidercade. Haha. Cidercade is a great stop!
R.I.P Cookie.
You will be remembered.

Have you gone eaten at the Bellaire Food Street yet? They have pretty good choices!
Everything looked so delish! Thanks for taking us to Houston. Enjoy your video!
ive lived in houston for over 10 years and if you want good barbecue you HAVE to go north. go to corkscrew bbq in spring. best bbq ever. truth is overrated its only popular bc its near downtown.
i guess i am going to get bbq now. (i don't even live in Houston lol)
if you're ever back in houston, you gotta try Tejas Chocolate + BBQ and Paradigm Brewery in Tomball (nw houston)
Unpopular opinion, I’m not a fan of whataburger.. I think their mustard is bitter and the ketchup is way too sweet. The meat has no caramelization, the cheese is never melted…
Makes me so happy to see you in Houston! Even though you went to a ton of places, I think you missed some entire categories of food. How could you come to Houston and not do numerous mexican places? We have so much to offer here and I think you just scratched the surface with these two episodes.
The Thai market you went to isn't the original. Its a long story, but the orig owners sold that location, then sold 2nd location and open a restaurant called "Asia Market Thai Restaurant". The other 2 locations kept similar names to attract people fyi.
Love the Houston prices! Nyc trippin
as something of a Texas bbq connoisseur i am disappointed but not surprised that pinkertons and truths brisket was dry. i've had them both and was also underwhelmed. 2M in san antonio always does it right so if you want great bbq you need to make a trip to san antonio
You have picked some awesome places. Kata is insanely good. It’s the first place I had real ramen. Cidercade is a blast.
SOFT COOKIES FOR LIFE, bird! lol I'll never understand the hard cookie lovers
The way some of us in Houston just sitting down watching her then we’re like why have I never seen this place before?😂
I need to know where you got that 4Town tshirt beautiful!!! As a houstonian love love love this vid!
Come to Hutchins BBQ in North Dallas McKinney for amazing brisket
Hello Meimei!!! I love you videos ❤. I recommend trying/ making a video on Lebanese food! :D
Thank you so much!!! Appreciate you ❤❤
Thank goodness you did a part two because part one was disappointingly devoid of diversity
Omgg I’ve been to the Asia market Lao Thai food, it was okay. Had the worst bathroom trip after that ngl
Love Milk+Sugar!! I had commented to visit Pinkeron's and El Tiempo in the first video. lol. Thai Street Market is awesome too!
Soft Cookies… Also… am I the only one who doesn’t like chocolate flavored desserts?
You should have tried the moist part of the brisket instead of the lean. I don't like the lean.
You HAVE to try Taqueria Del Sol next time. Real mexican food not tex mex :)
Awesome Video Your Videos Are Awesome Keep Going
Brisket tip, ask for slices from “The Point” , fattier and juicer end.
I got too excited thinking my dad's restaurant was mentioned here-
it's called "Mama Tere" (the name of my dad's mom aka my grandma)
Ooo hopefully next time i visit i can check it out!
@@feedmeimei yes :>
u might see my mom and dad there lol
also one thing both of them can't speak English very well (mostly my mom)
With Whataburger it’s like the real life paunch burger from parks and rec
Love this video
Thank you so much!! Appreciate you 💕💕
Next time you are in Houston, come out to Pearland. We have awesome good eats out here.
if you ever come back, you HAVE to try Escalante’s (Tex-Mex) and/or Isakaya Wa (Japanese)
I love Asia Market! They have some great dishes that make use of Thai fermented sausage.
Honorable mentions that I didn't see on the list:
Huynh - pho
Darband - Persian
Tan Tan - Viet fast food (right next to Star Snow Ice, in fact)
Los Gallitos - Tex-Mex
Niko Niko's - Greek
Chapultepec - more Tex-Mex
Tony's Delicatessen - Italian
Parisian Bakery- Viet/French Bakery
Seoul Garden - Korean
Crescent City Beignets - Coffee and beignets
Star Pizza - Pizza
Mai's - Viet
And a shoutout to Mason Jar. Mason Jar shut down a few years ago, but it was really good American fare.
There are so many good restaurants in Houston. If there's anything that you want to try, you can probably find it in Houston.
Going to visit Mama Mia Sugarcane n thanks for putting the prices too ❤❤
Yay!! Love your videos as always Meimei!!
As a Texan I do not understand why everyone thinks Brisket is good......BUT Tex Mex is NEVER overrated!
It all tastes the same 😂
Collaboration Opportunity: Tikka and Takkos Food Truck x Houston Food Vlogger

If you're interested, let's schedule a quick call to discuss the details. We can't wait to work with you!
Best regards,
Tikka and Takkos Food Truck
Houston, Texas
You gotta go to Oklahoma one day. Eischen's Bar serves THE BEST fried chicken I've ever had. Hide-a-way Pizza in OKC, is AMAZING as well. Pickle's is a local mom and pop shop. I HIGHLY suggest their breakfast and lunch menu. Sam's Southern Eatery is really good if u want catfish. And you MUST try Swadley's BBQ for Oklahoma BBQ. These are just a few of my favorites as an Oklahoma born country girl.
idk why i love watching ur vids while i m hungry 💀💀💀💀
So the sizes at whataburger for shakes are different sizes than the drinks!! The medium cup she holds up is for sodas, and that is actually the large size for the shakes :) there is a medium size in between the small and the “medium” drink that Bird got (I’m assuming it’s his lol). Whataburger has weird sizes y’all I’m sorry hahah!
Can you do food tours in Wisconsin? Like Milwaukee, Oconomowoc, Madison, Marinette, etc? Oconomowoc is where I live, and there is this place called the crafty cow. You’d guys would enjoy it!! Be warned: Oconomowoc CITY downtown isn’t really big. It’s an ok size! ✨ Edit: Roots is a Cafe you’d also like. Unfortunately it doesn’t have boba. It’s sad 😢
Next time that you come to Houston you should definitely try Shazuzone for hot pot or Handam for korean bbq. Shabuzone has AYCE and includes wagyu meat. Their broth is so delicious and they have so many options to add to your individual pot. Handam is so good as well, its $30 for AYCE and their side dishes are amazing! One of my all-time favorite Korean BBQ places.
If you go eating out with Meimei you will never have a bad meal.
And an other video I'm binging ❤
I LOVE BOBA and I go to rare tea and it's so good u should try it
Okay, that Crawfish place was playing BOPS
B
So exciting to watch mei mei! I have been saving this vid to watch with my bf. We always love ur recommendations! The mules and the pork belly with Mac salad looked sooo good! I can’t wait to go back to Disneyland, trying to plan a trip soon
hi, meimei,
I know you probably have this kind of comment a lot but I just wanted to say that I am one of your biggest fans. I have watched almost all of your videos; they always make me smile. So excited to watch this one!
💕
P.S. I am also a big boba fan and a big food lover, I also have cats at home
