How refreshing to see that someone knows how to hold the camera steady & to pan it around slowly so we can get a proper look at it instead of seeing a video taken by someone with Parkinsons & on speed. Congratulations on a great bike & a worthwhile video, it's much appreciated.
good to see people keeping these mint oldschool bikes alive, they are like rolls royces compared to the modern day freestylers, other mint bikes from early eighties are kuwahara lazerlite, skyway ta,mongoose pro class,p.k. ripper & s.e. quad,g.t. pro, redline, hutch, and of course raliegh aero pro
I had one of the 1st of these to roll out..put it on lay away at Kirks Bike shop in Ramona ,Ca,,took months to pay it off but EVERYDAY i'd come in to look at her.
Hi mate, fantastic, lovely condition. I had one of these back in the 80's before it got stolen. I do feel that this was and is still the best bmx ever made. I was trying to remember, what does she weigh, I know it was one of the lightest in it's time. Cheers Dan
That bike is absolutely original that 1 looks as good as the same day it came out I had an 83 and and 84 Best bike of all time to this day My 83 was stolen my 84 I traded for APK ripper and a quadrangle Sure wish I wouldn't have done that. The good old days
Holy shnap bro! Your bike is Aaaaawweesome! I've got a 83 Silver Streak and an 81 Senior Pro that I'm building up as we speak. 'They're on BMX Museum. Great Job!
I owned one of these in the mid 90's... I loved the 181 cranks - made the bike seem so fast with a 45t front sprocket - the cranks did not love me doing dirt jumping :( - had I known then what I know now, I would never have given the bike away.
I just hope that for all that show, you actually ride the thing and don't just let it sit in the corner collecting dust. I happen to own a Harry Leary, and I ride mine whenever possible. One of my favorite bikes.
They say viper wasn't as good as other models, I had a 1983 Viper black Z rims black gooseneck Chrome and black spider web sprocket it was a great bike I'd beat it everyday and greased it and took it apart every night, I would love to have my vintage Viper back
Awesome! I had one right after my Cook Bros. & JMC rides. Loved the smoked chrome! Handled really well. Unfortunately, I folded the fork jumping and mangled the cranks (they were junk, really). Sure LOOKED cool tho! HAHA! Man, I miss it...
Yeah i was lucky enough to have one of these back in the 80's i could only afford the bike as i had 3 paper rounds and blew all my money on it!! So many happy times back then. As for the weight i cant remember but my mate had a pk ripper and that was even lighter but he paid silly money for it!!
Oh I think I mistook the crank dust cap for the head of a newer style bmx bottom bracket bolt. I found it strange initially that it didn't have a one piece bottom bracket and that threw me off I think.
Hey...I'm about to restore my Harry Leary bike. Any suggestions on places to track down parts - especially pads, grips and seat. Thanks...The bike looks great.
I remember actually handling one of these bikes back in 1985 in the bike store the price tag was $400.00 I so wanted to get one but I got the Super Viper which was 175.00 at the time.
The frame looks great. Was it hard to reproduce the blue-smoke? I understand it's expensive to have done. Mine has some scratches, but is still pretty good.
Hey i know this is an old video but can those handle bar pads be found anywhere (found my old Diamond Back pacer 500) in my rentals gay rage and its like brand new...thanks
A lot of copies of these will be coming up soon , dudes asking 5grand on eBay for a HL and I know for a fact you could have a exact replica fabricated detail for detail for a lot cheaper than that... Top bike but 5gs is a bit strong for a rip off.. I'd want harry to sign hand it to me and take a picture for that sort of cash..
God I wanted one of these SOOOO bad !!!! If it had the old DB branded Comp II's it would have been perfect !! Thats incredibly anal isnt it. I need a life.
that bike cost £375 back in the early 80's, obviously as its so old its only worth about £50 now, however i will offer you £60 for it so im doing you a favour, il PM you my address so you can deliver it to me :) seriously though do you still have it? and can you upload some 1080p video footage of this glorious bike?
Very 80's legendary old skool race bike... back in the late 70's-80's when Diamond Back was a GOOD company, who made their bmxs' outta 100% 4130 chromoly. Now, they're cheap and SHITTY, steel crap bikes you can buy at Walmart. WTF, happened to you, Diamond Back? The last GOOD quality DBs were made in the late 80's. :(

My parents could only afford to buy me a Viper but loved it like it was a Leary Turbo! Happy days!
That's my favorite Bmx bike of all times!
The soundtrack is perfect. That's what played in my mind when I first saw one as a 10 year old.
That's a bad ass bike, my dream back in the 80's......thank for the video (bring old time memories)

I like it. The bottom bracket and crankset(especially) aren't original though.

Best Cranks i ever had way stronger than redlines
THE SILVER STREAK WAS ...SILVER. this looks right to me.
very cool. is that the brake lever that came on the bike? so big. also why is the brake on the wrong side?
Beautiful restoration! Where is this bike now?
old days, I remember so well, I remember my KASTAN
That is badd ass
The frame looks great. Was it hard to reproduce the blue-smoke? I understand it's expensive to have done.

The first TURBO was an 82 and they had the larger Diamond Gusset they got smaller in 84
quick question:
do you know what size this Diamond Back is?
is it 18" or 20" wheels?
does the frame have a size or not?
- Thanks
Great job! Although, the brake lever needs adjusting, it's a beautiful bike.
Where did you get the sticker set at? Im looking for some to restore my HLT also.
I have this bike in my garage.
I was kidding. It looks like an 83. Are those original Oakley F1s?
Where is Harry Leary, and Stu Thompson these days. They should make a documentary about the evolution of bmx.
Harry just did a bike check about 4 months back on YT
How is the crankset not original?
They are DB Turbo cranks.
@MaCattk101 isnt ev1s on the left or are u foreign???

That's NOT a turbo frame. Looks to be a Silver Streak. The diamond on the Turbos was a lot smaller.
Bull only that bike was that color
Whaat😂😂😂😝 it's Shit!
