Brings me back to the 80’s! Some of the best years to have grown up in. Those of us who lived this are the last of the “be home before the street lights come on” generation. Good times!
Exactly this. I was trying to explain this to someone over the weekend. Times like those are lost forever. Young'uns today will never have those experiences and freedoms.
Brings back the old days when I rode. Great to see all the Rad bikes from back in the day as well as the riders. I'll have to bust mine out once winter is over .
No doubt agreed! Hey guys, old school rider here. Please help a brotha out and Subscribe to my channel! Riding old school tricks and learnin more each season here on my Haro retro Masters!
Love it ...grew up watching these guys at shows and worked hard to be like them...love showing the younger generation what u can do ,regardless of your age ...when u put in the work
Can't believe how long ago the 80s were and how much our sport has changed. I remember racing New Jersey state series and the track there's nothing like they are now. Dirt jumps , table tops, whoopty doo doos, and burms. Ant hills, step-ups, I remember the New Jersey state series in 1983 in Lawrenceville the state championship winning the 16 expert and 16 24 cruiser was was the highlight of my young life. I still have the number plates. Now they are in the Olympics. My how are sport changed, the things these kids do now, just absolutely unbelievable. When a table top was a great trick. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to participate in such a fantastic sport. And watch through the years how it changed. Long ago are the 80s. Rest in peace
Dave voelker was one of my favorite riders , loved watching him through the 90s and in to the early 2000s GT voelker metal issue bike was a brilliant solid bike, one of my favorite that I ever owned.
I begged and begged and finally got dropped off at a GT EVENT in South Windsor, CT on RT. 5 1988!. A seriously cool Hawaiian dude rode quarter pipe, flatlanded, and entertained us while Eddie Fiola was just end-oing and rolling back off the quarter pipe. Once it started, Eddie did an x-up and a fakie and bailed. The other dude busted his butt with a 360 (most couldn't land a 540 but he had to land and roll a fakie) , Super chicken, etc. Dude was hands down better than Eddie, and he handed me a pair of those super sweet Odi Mushroom grips. Kindest guy ever. God bless all BMXers, and especially that dude.
I got into bmx when it first came to England in about 1980-81 ,loved it as soon as I saw it on TV showing Bob Haro, I,m 51 now but still love watching it,I,d love to get an old school bmx again,I had a Torker pro x
Martin hadnt been at any of the recent events, so it was very cool to see him there. He was messing around on someone's bike, and you could tell he probably hadn't ridden regularly, but you could also tell it was all coming back to him quickly. I hope that motivated him to get back into it and maybe he'll show up again next year!
If it wasn’t for the old it wouldn’t have BEEN the NEW! Damn Ron ,Eddie WOODY ETC I’VE Always LOVE YOU GUYS STAY BLESSED TILL THE WOULD BLOW UP😁😎👍🏾💯❤️ KOOL and the GANG!!!!...Ha!-Ha! Yeah!🛴🐝
Awesome video.... I too am stuck in the 80s/90s. LoL I still have my unique riding style because of growing up in the beginning of BMX and still riding now... I always win at BIKE because I have weird "old-school" tricks. 😉😁
Brings my childhood flooding back into focus...’these guys are nothing less than PIONEERS” of everything BMX. They should’ve been paying tribute to them at every XGAMES event, for w/o them there would be none!!
These guys are all my hero’s I had the pleasure for meeting a lot of these dudes from when I was 14 to 17 . I had a friend that worked for G.T. Bikes out on the west coast in the early to mid 80s he moved back to Cincinnati Ohio & worked at Montgomery cyclery where I did all my shopping for parts for my bike & bought bikes he was in charge of bringing teams such as team Dyno , team G.T. , team Haro & other Indy riders here to Cincinnati for shows year round . Man them were the best times of my life , I got to ride a lot of bad ass ramps & was taught a lot of tricks by these dudes .
This is an awesome video thanks for posting. The entire thing is great, but seeing Eddie and Woody doing the flatland together had me grinning ear to ear. Nice to see Martin again, can't mistake that smile. I saw a forum post by the owner of the Orange GT recently. It was autographed by Eddie and Martin that day, and a short time later the owners 1 yr old boy got a permanent marker and added his own sig. over the top of them...
That jump at 2:10 into a fakie....WOW!! Many very good riders today do not immediately attempt some of these moves. These guys invented this stuff...and there's just not much new under the sun. They wrote the book...literally. And it's very hard to do any better even today.
Great clip Bob Haro where did the years go i raced here in Dublin Ireland from 1983 - 1986.. we did our attempts at freestyle in "the chuckies" in Saint Annes Park Raheny made our own jumps. Summer of 1984, myself Glen, Carlos, Stynes, Garvey, Micko, Lesso and many more...
@haro82 Cool, I hope he gets back into it. I am 36 and still going strong! He was one of my idols in the 80's, along with Moliterno, McCoy, Itson, Nourie, and all the others. I had my 88 Master since it came out and am not restoring a GT Performer to day glo to look like Martin's did. Would be great if he came back strong or did some exhibitions. I hope you tape it all. I loved the Haro reunion but can't find much footage on it. I seen like 2 videos.
Yes, the guy holding the orange Gt is Martin.. Woody was on an Itson Diamond Back.. he rode those after Hutch. Fakie is Dominguez.. at 6:05, that's Tony Murray.
@haro82 That is great. I love Dave and I wish all of the Haro team would get back together, especially the later one like Moliterno, Hoffman, and McCoy etc.
I wish I hadn't quit either. I need to start riding again. I still have my bikes. A friend sent me a subscription to Ride BMX for Christmas. I think he's trying to motivate me! I just might do it! lol I hope you do too bro!
Sure did.. Fiola is doing big time stunt work in Hollywood, Woody is still involved in bmx managing a team.. Voelker is still doing bmx full time I believe doing stunt shows.. You should come on out to the next one next year.
@sirbrad4 When I spoke to Martin, he said he'd been out of riding for awhile. I'm hoping he'll be riding at this years event, which is in 2 weeks! It was great to see him there though for sure.

All so sweet! The old school bikes, the colors, the tricks....I need to go back to 87!
Eddie Fiola my bmx hero!!! THX that's a jewel!!
Oh these were such fine days, hangin out on the street with your friends trying tricks till you had to be home... these tricks are so awesome.
I'm 45, I'm refurbishing my 80's Freestyle bike. Can't wait to get back on it!
Brings back the old days when I rode. Great to see all the Rad bikes from back in the day as well as the riders. I'll have to bust mine out once winter is over .
Wow I wanna go back to the 80's. Great video!
I would like to see Dew Tour or X games honor the old school guys in some way. Cause they are the ones who paved the way for so many riders today.
I couldn't agree more!
100% agree definetly these guys paved the way..
Especially guys like Dave Voelker who’s style from the 80’s is still prevalent today!
No doubt agreed! Hey guys, old school rider here. Please help a brotha out and Subscribe to my channel! Riding old school tricks and learnin more each season here on my Haro retro Masters!
Woody and Martin were the reason I got into freestyle. Legends
Thanks for the video. WOW WOW... Now thats oldschool . I grew up in the 80's
Brings back old memories of my brother ,and I doing that same tricks
Love it ...grew up watching these guys at shows and worked hard to be like them...love showing the younger generation what u can do ,regardless of your age ...when u put in the work
Bmx would not be where it is without these guys. They represent so well 💯🚲
The best sport in the history of the universe
Yup. ;)
Yeh the best off the best
I remember drooling over the 80's freestyle bikes at the local bike shop. I'll take a show like this over X Games anyday!!!!

Dave voelker was one of my favorite riders , loved watching him through the 90s and in to the early 2000s GT voelker metal issue bike was a brilliant solid bike, one of my favorite that I ever owned.
Eddie Fiola. 80's freestyle legend. Used to ride for GT.
I begged and begged and finally got dropped off at a GT EVENT in South Windsor, CT on RT. 5 1988!. I'm a bit younger, few yrs. Just picked up a refurbd 1984 bike, arrived today, it is an amazing reminder of a time gone. And it still fits!

Awesome video.... I too am stuck in the 80s/90s. LoL I still have my unique riding style because of growing up in the beginning of BMX and still riding now... I always win at BIKE because I have weird "old-school" tricks. 😉😁
