    I'm glad you cleared this up because I do remember your RUclips video about "You Don't Have Sisterlocks"..

    This happened in the natural hair community as well. Some people who had gone natural looked down on those who still got relaxers or wore wigs/weaves. My thing is no one else has to maintain or wear your head of hair everyday so do what works for you sis. It's all love.

    Funny you said this because i made a video on my two month update (which i am trying to post, but am having issues😩). However, joining sisterlock groups is exactly the thing that i said i wasn't going to do for this very reason. Noone has time or energy to be going back and forth with others. This is my journey and i plan to enjoy it.

    Since we can’t control or regulate human behaviors, we’d do well to focus on what we can control and that’s our reaction to things/people/comments.
    We should go where positive energy flows and there are some very uplifting groups and spaces.
    Some people are just plain rude and that’s on them. They should be avoided.

    Her and her hair is beautiful, I started my LOCS 12 yrs ago with tiny braids I did myself and learned how to maintain them when they LOCd.... they’re down to my butt and I love them. It was a long journey, but I went that route after a district consultation and the price 12 yrs ago was over the top! But I did find that community is rather rude . But my braid LOCS turned out beautiful and I did them myself all 400 plus little platts that turned into locs❤️

    I love my 630 sisterlocks and wear them my way. I see many types of locs and admire them all. I don't care what people think of me or my hair. When my hair was straightened I got negative comments because people wanted to see certain styles. When I had my afro, people always felt the urge to tell me what products I should use to get type 3 curls... I love my 4b/c hairtype and never dreamed of having type 3 hair. Now with my sisterlocks people want me to wear a lot of make up to match my locs. Plus dye my hair because that's what many women do. I do not care.... I do ME, what I want!!! 🎼 I say whatever, whatever, whatever, whatever, I don't worry about things the way I did before🎶 😊

As long as you love the hair growing on your head, then God bless you. It’s been so long since I loced my hair that I really feel like the “Sisterlock rules” have no meaning for me anymore. As long as she loves what she sees when she looks in the mirror that’s all that matters.

    This is remarkably accurate. I hate that it is. I have never had anyone comment on my locks, but I have reached out about different topics and the admin will legit shut down your inquiry being a petty petunia and typically about things you may just not know. It’s ridiculous and condescending sometimes at best. These should be spaces where we gain more info and figure out how to ensure our beautiful sisterlocks flourish, but instead we are frequently met with snide and rude comments. Thank you for this.

    This is going to sound mean but it’s true, the sisterlocks Facebook group is full of insecure women who were able to get a hairstyle they feel is elite and make others feel bad b/c it’s what has been done to them. That fb group is a clear indication of SOME women that weren’t considered pretty, have been bullied and want to now give off a superior attitude to others with microlocks etc. it’s quite sad and many of the people that I have seen making snide comments should look in the mirror, sorry not sorry

    It’s just goes to show how ignorant people can be when it comes to other people hair! First of all, those that have sisterlocks must make themselves aware that there are different sizes of sisterlocks set by JoAnne Cornwell, so not everyone wants or will get extra small/ small locks. Knowledge is power! I’m sick of folks and their negativity about someone else’s hair. If we will have different experiences in life, why is it so hard to believe that our hair journey wouldn’t be just as different from one another 🤔🤨🧐🤷🏽‍♀️ #igottimetoday 😤

    There are lots of great interlocks. Sisterlocks(TM) is brand of interlocks ( although the name has been used to label all small locks). The Sisterlocks(TM) course drills teaching the differences between their brand versus other. I believe the distinction is to protect the trademark pattern. At rhe same time outside of the classroom they're not protecting the brand name so that consumers know the difference. There are locticians that are charging Sisterlocks(TM) rates and masquerading as Sisterlocks(TM) consultants. Sisterlocks(TM) is great is you want straight lines (grids) for a neat appearance when styling. Im a SL practicioner that no longer cares about a perfect grid for myself as I prefer a more carefree look.

    I haven't experienced anything negative. But I'm in loc groups, not specific to sisterlocks. I think because of the trade mark and the cost we pay to both establish and maintain our hair many are just very protective. Also many people get taxed on something masquerading as sisterlocks cause they know no better. Its a double edge sword. If they like it, I love it. I mind my business

    I agree with your sentiments. We should be focusing on more important things, however this is human nature the need to create a I am better than you in everything paradigm including hair. I have sister locks and because of my hair type that's frizzy you can't even see the grid after a week and I don't care. Most people think my hair is tiny twists and many think my hair is extensions. I think mine is better than yours, It's not just in the sisterlocked community. You have people who have traditional freeform locs that look down upon tiny locs or these manicured locs. I do understand that yes there are some lociticians who are taking advantage of some black women by lying to them about giving them sisterlocs, this almost happened to me when I was searching for a consultant. The first consultant, straight up lied but thank God the whole thing didn't feel right and I ran. Also, I do believe that Dr. Cornwell deserves all of the credit for creating this beautiful hairstyle and people should be proud to say they have sisterlocs and acknowledge that. Sometimes I feel the need to lie and tell people I have microlocs in order not to make others feel bad. I think ultimately, if your hair makes you feel good then who cares really. All locs are beautiful. I don't put my photos up in that forum because I don't need anyone to co sign on my hair.

    • @gal-vai7999
      @gal-vai7999 4 года назад

      The Hamer tribe uses vegetable resin and fat to create their locs and hold them in place while sisterlocks uses a crochet method. While I do think she was inspired by the traditional methods of locs, I believe she was the first to use the crochet tool. So yes sisterlocks was a unique hair system she created.

    I’m confused! People ask for opinions on that site. If you ask whether or not you have SISTERLOCKS and you have less than 350 locs one should be told to get a second opinion because the service was for SISTERLOCKS! They are expensive and you shouldn’t pay for MICROLOCS! It doesn’t matter if you LIKE your hair! You paid for SISTERLOCKS and you should get them!! Brittania718 I honestly think it’s because Influencers put such a strong emphasis on loc counts and scalpiness following installations. We see it on a daily basis on various social media platforms. So when we see pictures our immediate response is whether the Consultant did her job. Did she give this Queen Sisterlocks? To your point, I’ve seen rude comments by thumb thugs about various topics. However, when it comes to installations, I would want to know the truth and someone simply saying, “Sis’ you don’t have SISTERLOCKS” should spark a discussion with the Consultant about her decision and COST! Some of these Consultants are giving our Sistas’ microlocs with Sisterlock grids! That’s SHAMEFUL! Thank you for posting this topic. There are some rude people out there tho’ but installations should be on point Sis’

    I'm considering getting locs. Will probably get twist locs. I think it's faster and cheaper. I don't get the obsession with grids and patterns and the number of locs on one's head. I find it to be such an unnecessary obsession that takes away from the fact that women are finding beautiful solutions to real hair struggles. It's like the drama behind redheads and blondes or whatever, what's the big deal. Look at the colors of the rainbow. You don't see them fighting just because they're different. It is in fact the difference in those colors that make the rainbow beautiful. Let's get over this crazy discrimination and spread love and just celebrate our different crowns!
