One of the best pedal demos I’ve ever seen. So well done. Your playing is spectacular. You play more than you talk which is appreciated. But when you talk your explanations and opinions were great. And thank you so much for playing so much rhythm and full chords. So many times people do pedal demos and play nothing but lead which doesn’t really show you enough character of the pedal. Your demo will for sure result in me purchasing this pedal now and I have subscribed to your channel.
Holy wow, Corey. You nailed this pedal. Love your descriptions and mmmm, you found some great tones. And of course, that Congilio guitaring... outstanding!!
By far, the best demo on the ZIO that is out there.....useful details, useful information, and excellent sound examples on different guitars. Great job!
Great breakdown, and very cool pedal. As an audio engineer & guitarist, I love the flexibility to fix some common issues with guitar tone in a few easy to access settings
Hello from UK. Great video and playing. I have just bought the Nobels ODR-1 with the bass cut which is a great pedal. I was checking the Zio for a boost and came upon your demo. Looks like I may be getting the Zio too :).
Just had to get a 2nd one, lucked on a mint one for 130€!! CLEAN boosting making every note better and more dynamic; got the NUX Boost Core Deluxe: SLIGHT SILKY BREAKUP boosting, goes so well with the Zio!!
I've been lucky enough to play guitar for a living for over 20 years and have made great friends along the way...many of them happen to work for gear companies so, it's a bonus for sure. Moral is, be nice and have relationships that last a long time.
Hello and THANK YOU ! The video is so weel done and interesting... I learned a lot and thanks to you i fianlly achieved a good tone with my current gear... I am so happy :)
That is a very very useful box Corey - I reckon' I might have to grab one. Great playing and concise explanations as usual! Quick question. Was the Princeton going into the Ox?
@@coreycongilio Sorry mate. Just re-watched and heard you say it! Oops. What cab/mic combo did you use in the OX? I thought it sounded really excellent.
Thx Corey, great playing awesome tone. This vid encouraged me to get the Zio, all I could say is wow! Just ordered a Ox also wondering what ohm output you used on the ox using the Princeton since it's a 2 ohm output..Thx again Corey
@@coreycongilio oh you're right! I have a original 64' PR. I was thinking about my Super Reverb which is 2 ohms. I can't find any info on the Ox into the Super. Thx Corey
GREAT playing and an excellent review! I am looking for a booster pedal in front of my Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. Would you recommend it? I love the sounds in your review!
Sounds really good! Love that Billy Gibbons sound from a amp like that. Would have to see how the OX box is impacting the tone that you would hear without it and any speaker simulation used if any. I was just trying to tame that flub in one of my amps. This pedal is everywhere on RUclips right now, I like you vid the best.
Thanks! The Ox is providing the speaker emulation as the amp isn't mic'ed but, I know this amp well and dialed it in to where it really sounds like how the amp would with live mics. I have the bass nearly off as I do that often with amps when recording. The Zio or other tone shaping boxes like this can indeed help tame the lows. A different speaker can be a major help as well.
Lot's of versatility. I own a simple TC Electronic Spark Mini which packs a punch for a little dude. And a Supro 1303 clean "boost" pedal (Jfet.) The Supro has a "light and dark switch". It really helps my '66 Gibson Lancer GA-35 RVT reach out for some gain. Any thoughts? Thank you Corey....
Hi Corey, you mention the pedal would be great at the beginning or end of the pedal board and using the settings to adjust brightness etc like a buffer, is it a buffer? Does it overcome the issues associated with buffers before/after fuzz & wah?
It is a buffer. However, you make tone adjustments unlike other buffers. They recommend trying it after fuzzes but, I've experimented with buffers in different spots with great success.
can you use this direct into an interface with an IR pedal after it and no amp for recording ? or... what do you recommend for simple guitar tracking for clean tones ?
Sounds like a nice piece of gear No disrespect But they say you can’t polish a dog turd but I reckon you can turn them to diamonds Insightful as always thanks mate

Nice demo, hard to beat just the Princeton alone with a Strat. Nice pedal I had not seen before.

Didn’t know what your preference was in comparison to this or the Vertex Boost?
The Zio is far more versatile.

the best n simplest demo by the way!!!

Yep!
@@coreycongilio Sorry mate. Just re-watched and heard you say it! Oops. What cab/mic combo did you use in the OX? I thought it sounded really excellent.
I'm going to try it with various analog amp sim pedals. Since they lack tubes, I'm not sure what the results will be but I shall find out.

Hi Corey! Thanks for the demo. Do you suggest Zio over Jackson Audio Prism as a preamp/boost?
I haven’t played the Prism yet. Jackson makes great stuff though.
Thanks, Corey! Would you recommend putting the ZIO before or after the compressor pedal in the chain?
After for me as the Zio's output gain would effect the compression. I like to compress first then boost after
Hope that helps

The amp sounds awesome. Looks like the 64 hand wired reissue Princeton.
It actually looks like a REAL old Princeton
It’s a 67 actually

Interesting pedal, great review, but I have to say that Les Paul is really you. Looking forward to hearing a lot more of it.
Haha, thx. You will
Thanks for the video Corey. I don't think the circuits sound very different-- not worth it to buy for that feature alone IMO.
great Demo thanks ;-) would this be good in front of amp sim eg. Uad amp sim into apollo? WaS thinking of preamp low cut especially? Cheers
I think it would
Source Audio or the Xotic RC?
Tough choice. More options on the Zio but the RC is a classic
They missed out the preamp from CE1
What about at the end of the chain as main tone with drives into it?
You could definitely do that!

What frequency is the low cut tuned for?
Not sure. Might wanna send Source Audio a message
Thanks for the question. ZIO cuts the frequencies below roughly 140Hz by around -3dB.
