Thanks Chris, it was very helpful and done nicely, Decided to order the module and setup the wifi as well. ...also, liked the music pick on the Timelapse, cheers!
Oh my GOD! I completely forgot that the mini has flipping wifi 😵💫 I tried to buy one of the wifi modules from prusa, but they were out of stock with no real expectation of restocking... so damn glad you made this vid! For $7 I get another awesome feature out of one of my favourite little printers!! Value well added!
Hi Chris, happy to do more about the Mini. Maybe some tuning like E3d Revo micro or component cooling with other fan shroud. Current Marlin or Klipper would of course also be interesting...... I operate the Mini via Octoprint, but I still installed the WLAN update. I find it a bit annoying that you have to enter the API code in the browser every time. But otherwise cool update.
I did this upgrade back when the beta firmware came out. The most annoying part was probably pinching the power switch tabs in enough to be able to pull it out while at the same time trying not to break the plastic case it was clipped in to. The firmware upgrade itself is great, but I found wifi speeds too slow for uploads, and went back to just using the ethernet cable, which had more tolerable (still not fast) upload speeds. Being able to upload gcode to the Mini without using Octoprint and an extra Raspberry Pi is pretty sweet though. It's basic, but gets the job done, and that's enough for me. I don't need the extra bells and whistles of Octoprint for my Mini.
Chris, good information. Once you can connect directly to your printer and load files, monitor, etc it is very difficult to go back to using a SD card, especially the Micro - too easy to loose and break.
Hi Chris. I'm a new watcher to your channel and I have a quick question. I'm new to 3d printing, I have a Prusa i3s+ that I have been using for about a month or so. My question is what raspberry would I use on this machine for wi-fi and hooking up a camera that I have?
I upgraded my Prusa Mini with WiFi years ago when I added an OctoPi. I really wish Prusa would have spent their time improving an already great print management software instead of reinventing.
Do the other printers support a wifi module? Mk3s+ etc? I see raspberry pi zero is documented for Prusa connect. I have a few older pi 3 b... So trying to figure out the best path. Also great video... 👍
Chris my only suggestion is to remind people to eject thier usb via the software side on windows before pulling the drive to cut down corruptions, otherwise I love your content.
I know this is unrelated to the video but I was hoping you could tell me the difference between the TMC 2208 UART and the regular TMC 2208 stepper. I thought UART or Stand alone, or SPI were determined through the jumpers. Thanks
Most of the time, yes, that is configed with the jumpers. In stand alone the jumpers set the micro stepping and the POT sets the current. In UART or SPI, you control the micro step with gcode as well as the current.
I updated the mini , added the WIFI (really Buggie, Big Files nope, benchy yes) .. does work ... ** Update it appears that its the modules , I got the 3 pack and each works a little different 1 no downloads but connect ,2 lets you start downloads but stop after 1-2% 3 it just does even care...
4.1.0 has a mesh bed leveling bug, just an FYI. I found and reported it. When returning results of the bi-linear leveling grid, there are intermittent missing/wrong values.
@@ChrisRiley ok I'ver used the ethernet port before like a LONG time ago, but the software you showed looked different then what used to be on there and I didn't know it would pair with the slicer. Thanks!
I have found mine will fall off the network as well, not sure why yet. If you power off then back on, that will fix it. I will look for a more permanent fix.
What a nice video, thank you! The connect is coming in the next big FW update.
Thanks Jo, this add on makes the Mini even better!
@@ChrisRiley Mine keeps dropping the wifi and the IP swaps to something else. Tried re-doing it but no luck

When is the next FW upgrade expected?
@@YigalBZ well.. it’s still not out
I just added wifi to my prusa mini. I had no idea that the functionality had been added until I saw your video. Thanks Chris!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic guide to add so much more to a mini for less than $5 and @20 min. Great video Chris.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for these clear instructions. I love that I no longer have to run back and forth with a USB drive. Great video, thank you!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching
Thanks Chris,

Cool, thanks!
IT WORKED- keep in mind though that now in 2024 the firmware is even better, which changes up the process a little bit
Yes! Thanks for your input!

I’ve tried Klipper on the Mini and it’s not great.
@@prongATO What was the problem?
Thanks! Yes, it looks like Prusa connect is coming soon, that should fix the key password issue.
Is this not a password field the browser can remember? Cant look myself, waiting for a ESP.
@@citronski it will remember it, yes.

Well said, I appreciate your insight.
I just broke the part of the case at the top of the switch and it came right out!
Fun timing - I added wifi to my Mini a couple of days ago. :-)
👍🙂 Great minds...
Great video, i hear the alpha latest version has P Connect for Mini.
Thanks! Yes, lots of awesome upgrades.

Thanks Dave, I know, the more feature they add the more spoiled I get.
Perhaps the file of credentials could be edited before be the upgrade process, to save the need to take the USB disk out and back during process.
It could be, but the MINI writes the file for you in the proper syntax, so it's kind of nice.
@@ChrisRiley I am not sure I follow. The upgrade process could include the credentials before the upgrade starts, in the proper syntax as well.
Thanks, very clear and well explained. THANK YOU

If you want to use Octoprint to control the printer and camera you can use pretty much any Pi. Finding one that's affordable is the trick. 😀

👍🙂
Is the a module like this that works with the mk3s+ or are we limited to rpi and SD slot adapters?
I haven't seen on that works with the MK3 well.

does this (link) work wired? Does it work in the slicer? I'd be willing to drop Octopi and free up a Pi if it does
On the mini there is an ethernet port, it will work with Prusa Link.

Hi, I added wifi to Mini(clone) week ago. When i try start print via prusalink i get 409:Conflict. Can't Start print now. How to fix it?
409 is a HTTP conflict. There might be an issue with the bootloader or firmware on your clone board.
Great video! Thanks
Thank you
How do I get to the prusa_printer_settings.ini file on a mac???
You should be able to edit it like any text file. I'm not sure about mac.
Awesome, thanks!
