City fans singing "you'll never walk alone" before kick off! I know many clubs sang it in the 60s and 70s before it was solidified as a Liverpool anthem but it is weird to hear it!
Truly amazing how Best looks so slow and ponderous when he was only 26. Lee also looks overweight, but he was almost 30 which in those days was quite old. City with 5 players (plus the sub Carradous) born within a few miles of Maine Road. Selling Colin Barrett for such a small fee was stupid.
great era, mud baths, old style floodlights, great cotton strips, old rickety grounds packed to the rafters. Football off the pitch now is very dull and boring compared to the halcyon days of the 1970s
I remember that day well. I was in the red half of the Kippax to witness the last of the Busby Babes making his debut and scoring. I miss those days and the great players on both teams. They were all mates off the pitch too. My dad used to go to Old Trafford one week and Maine Road the next. That's how it was for his generation. Looking back at that match from 2017, I can't help thinking a lot of the soul has gone from the game. Makes you wonder how much players like Bell, Best, Lee, Kidd, and the rest of them would fetch at today's prices.
If you have to explain that you were being sarcastic, it defeats the point. If you think that the people you are aiming the comment at need it explaining...again a waste of time. Basically a stupid comment.
Great player that george best was, and even as a City fan I acknowledge that fact, he always struggled against Tony Book, Book always had him in his pocket.........
Doesn't seem to matter how old the match is, Man U losing is still a joy to watch.

Both teams in transition....so sad to see Best and Charlton a shadow of the layers they had been only four years earlier.
Hah I was 1 day old that day! :)
The days when watching G. Best play was so exciting, in 72 it was like watching a Num 7 shirt running around with no Best.

Rose Tinted Inc. The violence at this and other derbies was widespread.
Yes plenty of punch ups proper derbies with not much attention off the media unlike these days.
Huge old pitch was Maine Road
The poor floodlighting was part of the atmosphere in those days.
If memory serves, Maine Road had floodlights before we did and that was the reason our early European Cup games were played there.
Maybe to due to the most tallest floodlights in the country.
Interestingly, it was an afternoon kick-off. (I was there.) The shadows thus did not show as well as for an evening kick off.
Fair play to Franny Lee for playing over half the match with his knee bandaged up like that (sarcasm)

Brilliant... as the players walk off at the end one of the officials stops and strokes the police horse... it just would not happen these days 😂😂
Al Stepney - WTAF was that?!??
10:25 lmfao. ManU fans chanting "united" and the mancity fans answering by saying "are shit"
Rodney Marsh taking the piss at the end, ha ha, brilliant....utd were crap that day, city different class......
Really poor game
Best was pathetic is this game
