      @@olivierschraepen5451 they deal with hundreds of items a month, so it's likely the experts have a much better idea of value than the seller, who often has unrealistic expectations for an item. An expert has no reason to undervalue an item, as that would only undermine there own reputation. why would they risk their career just for a couple hundred dollar commission?

    • @joelgeri5417
      @joelgeri5417 4 года назад +7

    • @joelgeri5417
      @joelgeri5417 4 года назад +5

      @matthew Dreyer there is no evidence to suggest this. Firstly only some of the experts have stores, others only offer information on historical significance. Secondly is the big benefit that experts receive from being on the show, exposure. And thirdly there professional reputation is far more important to them then trying to con people out of a few dollars. As i said before it's far more important to have people respect their expertise and make money in the long run

    People have to realize these "consultants" have deals with the pawn shop and are there to help the pawn shop not the seller. They always give a lower price than was originally on the table. With that being said that sword isn't worth $22k. Closer to $15k and selling it for $11k to a pawn shop is about the best your gonna get. I honestly never understand people that being high dollar antiques to pawn shops instead of taking it to auction.

    • @ThornForTheWynn

      Zweihander is a modern term. Bidenhander was going to be the German word for it at the time.

    • @A_Medieval_Shadow
      @A_Medieval_Shadow Год назад +1

      @@ThornForTheWynnsorry for this answer after a long time, but the contemporary term was "Schlachtschwert" as it was mentioned in Some Manuscripts and lists of armories. This translates to "Battlesword".
      Zweihänder, Bidenhänder, beidfäuster and so on were used for a longsword, but times changed that a bit up so today people call it a Zweihander although back then it was a different sword.

    1. A broadsword refers to a single-handed, double-edged blade found in the Scottish highlands and often used in conjunction with a circular shield called a targe.
    2. Functional two-handed swords/montante/spadone/zweihander/bidenhander weigh about 8 pounds tops.
