The way Mike Yamasaki explain things very thoroughly and politely just makes me thinks he's a great person. "When handing a sword, and if you trust the one you're handing it to. Make sure the blade is pointing towards you."
It's not the person, it's the culture. Something the west never really had in the first place.

Rick: “Okay, I’m going to call in a friend of mine, an expert on this. Just to see if it’s authentic.”

Now what we really wanna know is if the kyber crystal is intact and is stable. Okay it is. The actual date on when they were invented is hard to say. But they are the weaponry for the Jedi as well as the Sith. The outer design is up to the user, however the kyber crystals color will depend on the force with the user. Now Sith on the other hand will bleed the kyber crystals red. Very authentic.”

Rick: “Wow okay well thank you for coming in.”

No, it's documented that the show is staged... just like any reality TV show. What I can't understand is how anybody can think it isn't scripted either by just watching the behavior or just the fact the anything going on broadcast is always scripted but it's so obvious it's hard to watch sometimes
@@stevevoltmann2787 I mean it should be pretty obvious that it's scripted by how rinse and repeat it is, with the only difference between occurrences being the people and the item(s). It's always customer walks up, briefly describes the item, presents what they want, pawn shop calls an expert, expert gives opinions on item, seller wants what the expert values the item at, pawn shop offers less than 50% of the value mentioned by expert, a little bit of "haggling" and then a sale/walk away.

Just the way they talked about WoW was... bad. Sentimentality is subjective. Some people are more sentimental than others. What oft happens is that the item given rots away in storage for years and years without interaction. Looking at it from your perspective it does seem like an assholeish thing to do. The better way (in my opinion) to look at it is simple. The guy doesn't care for or have any passion for the sword or anything it's related to obviously, but he does have a family. What is worth more to him, memories or a sword sitting collecting dust? Not to mention the collector buying it actually being happy to have it on display/in their collection. It's a win win situation, which is a good outcome, no?
