Nice video! Lots of great information regarding NEO GEO. One thing to keep in mind, most of the games that were MVS conversions or bootlegs are the later releases or the games that always had a high value in the aftermarket. I only came across 1 conversion since I started buying Neo Geo AES games a few years ago. Most collectors in the scene are truthful, which is really good to know.
@@MortsGarage Thats cool. Love to see you diving into it. I hope you keep the games and eventually get a console. Its such a cool piece of video game history and both games are awesome.
Glad they were real and not bootlegs. I bought three boxes of mvs carts and this video was helpful, because I did not know they made bootlegs. I also might have an answer for original price because I remember seeing an old invoice in one of the boxes.
Happy to see more Neo Geo content! I love seeing more awareness for new interested collectors. Great video! For the more rare games definitely looking at labels, inserts, and boards etc. is a must.
Awesome video. I worked in an arcade for a couple years in the 90's and the neo geo boot/cycle music is still better than the playstation 1 boot music. So satisfying.
Loved the video! I found you from Gabbo's channel a few weeks ago, and subbed. After seeing his kindness and generosity with buying that kid a game, I could tell you are equally as cool of a dude and I subbed! So far I'm happy I did!
I just got schooled today. Had no idea about any of this. We don't own a Neo Geo. Never something we see here but that's so good for any collector to know to always check their games and HOW to check. There's always a tell. Very glad they are both authentic!
Great video as always. Nice to see a different format. And as for the Neo Geo. I'd absolutely love to have one of those. Pretty expensive though.... If you can find one. The snk stuff is amazing takes me back to my childhood in the arcades😊🙌🔥🔥🔥
just started collecting AES. im going for the japanese version becuause of the prices. its just on the top 5 of my bucket list and the damn nostalgic feeling😂
I still have the Neo Geo Gold system I got back in 1991. Still have a bunch of AES games as well. I only ever bought a few off of eBay. They didn't go into too much detail on the bootleg checks, but it's not quite enough to just "make sure" everything looks legit/lines up. You have to also ensure the actual chips themselves are the originals.
See I told you they were real 🎉 Unless a genuine game is worth £1000 it’s not worth making a fake. Even fakes cost a lot of time and money. Congratulations boss man 👍
Great video! Glad the Neo Geo AES is getting some love. If you decide to dive deeper into Neo Geo you will have to learn how to identify the "paper "which is the insert, manual and label. English copies are more expensive and people are getting better and better at swapping carts from Japanese copies. Great stuff.
Having owned both an MVS cabinet/games and AES games/system, I wish I still had both. I bought an AES collection to flip back in 2008...which could easily be a down payment on a house now.
It’s always really interesting learning about this stuff. I mean, I’ll never be able to afford to collect neo geo, but still really cool to learn about this stuff 😅
Like the guy mentions in the video MVS games used to be dirt cheap. I think I paid something like 20-30 bucks on ebay for a windjammers cart MVS, now that's a 200+ dollar game
Actually kizuna encounter is the most rare and expensive game for the aes, probably one of the rarest games of all time less than 10 were made and the game easily sells in the 6 figures.
@MortsGarage Yeah, every game they've made for that system is actually quality. It wasn't like Nintendo or Sega, you know letting any low quality games slip through like they did example ( Pit Fighter SNES) Every game is outstanding on NEO-GEO AES!
the size of the carts is the same they reversed the pinouts on the boards so you could not play MVS on AES.....if you have questions just ask....oh and congrats on your original carts!
Next could you do a video on fighting games like killer instinct primal rage mortal Kombat Street fighter in the the and especially killer instinct Gold I love that game and maybe going to death and detailing that like dialoguing about how is different on the games are different system to system and how they are different on the arcade and especially go and I want to learn more about if there were better speakers on the killer instinct arcade than another arcades because every time I heard the soundtrack on there it sound louder than the other arcades ? Is that true?
I think I want to share this to my Facebook timeline in my Facebook gamer groups that I am in all of them to hopefully spread awareness of this current epidemic that 3D printers are putting us into nowadays and back in the olden days the old-fashioned way of doing it to which is the way you're talkin about in this video!!! But why didn't you guys I'm surprised you didn't mention 3D printers is that not a dilemma in this issue?
Phew! I was ready to curse Chris out for selling you dirty bootlegs but alas it is not necessary. I was also going to say something unflattering about bald men being untrustworthy (unless of course they're like Josh and sport a killer beard and glasses combo) but we'll save that one for another time :-) Fun video Mort. I'm really glad to see they're originals and I look forward to part 3 and getting into Chris's sealed copies.
so should i bring the 23 AES games i have left to Kris's store to blow him away hehehehehehe i wish i still had the full set sadly my divorce killed me
@@MortsGarage great, I just want to believe you... do you have a link to the $5 game? i my all life , i never see any NEOGEO games for 5$ :) ... and even less an AES.... but you video was cool !
i wouldnt be as mad if they were legit being used like repros actually do cuz the quality is fucking identical in casin and everything to the point where its as good and it comes with carbon copy packaging, problem is they are cheap like dirt to reproduce and ppl are flipping em for 10x the production cost which is ludicrous
We now enter the Post-Garage Grunge Era of Mort.

This is something I’m learning
yeha good luck opening a rare neo geo aes game without messing up the plastic or cracking the tabs.
MVS kits were like 4 to 5 times the price of an AES cart for the arcade operator. The AES were originally going to go into hotels.
Interesting!
Always a good day when Kris stops by!

It`s not only swap the roms from a MVS on to AES you need to know how the place the jumpers as well to get it run..

What's the point? They only ever bootlegged the expensive games. These two are among the most common aes games.
I like learning 🤷♂️
lol @ that thumbnail though. Please tell me where I can buy $5 AES repros hah.
Twas a bit of fun playing out the exaggeration :) Thanks for watching!
