      Hey Bernth, love your videos and lessons, thank you a lot. Just wanted to give you a little bit of feedback from my personal perspective. I noticed you like split screen feature, which may be nice/useful in some cases. But for me, it is a bit distracting. In this particular video, the lower video is a loop of the beginning of this lesson, and it loops for most of the duration of the video, even when you are already speaking about further concepts, which are not inline with the video that loops. So it basically distracts twice: 1) just because there is motion in two videos except one, so it's harder to focus on just one of them and 2) is because what it loops is not inline with your current words. So, if the video that loops was aligned win your current words, that would be the case where it might be useful. But it's a recorded video after all, we can always go back and re-watch what we need :) Keep up the good work, much appreciated!

    While most guitar teachers avoid even talking about Diminished chords, you are doing a video on the scale! Kudos from India.

    Hi Bernth, Thanks for another great lesson! I have tried the Diminished scale before, months ago, but because I'm mostly self taught, I don't have anyone to explain it to me like you can!
    I realized when I was working with it, It did sound metal like to me! It was fun to play too, it had a metal feel. But I wasn't sure what chords to put with it. And I also need some good arpeggios too! I think I'll go back and check it out again, now. I have this diminished scale in my scale book, that will make it easier for me.
    I would like to share something with you and your students, that I came across while looking back at some of my notes. I know you know this already, but I would like to share it anyway. It's an alternate tuning and hear it is C#-G#-C#-F-G#-C#. I tuned my guitar to it today and played a slow metal rhythm with my drum machine. I know a lot of metal guitar is played fast, but I like to slow it down sometimes, like 108 bpm! And before I new it, It was sounding good, I liked the slow grinding grunge it had. I've used some other down tuning before, but this is the first time I've used this one. I hope you'll try it and like it! And If you can share your thoughts about it!
    So your going on tour, that sounds great, good luck to you!
    I've got to go, TOONAMI is coming on!!!!
    Thanks again for another great lesson!
    See you in the next video!
    Todd P.

    I'm actually surprised how little there is out there with 4 notes per string. Its definitely a huge part of Dimebags arsenal. I cant think of one solo he does that doesn't have 4 notes per string in it somewhere...usually the parts where its stupid fast too. Hes good like that lol

    • @JacksonSlayer24

      Octatonic means 8 notes, which is a quality of this scale, but the diminished scale is a more practical name for how it could be used. Just my thoughts.

    • @Bernthguitar
      @Bernthguitar  5 лет назад +1

      I personally use mine in standard tuning with an additional low B string on the bottom - that makes visualizing scales, arpeggios and more easier for me personally :) Maybe that helps a bit, great lesson topic for the future!

      Look into chromatic voice leading. There's also the half-whole diminished scale, which may has some wicked melodic capabilities.

      There is some neat uses for it. While im not a huge fan of the vocals, listen to the album Gallery of Suicide by Cannibal corpse and you will hear some nice hacks with this scale. And also Pat OkBrien just nails this scale all over the neck incredibly.
