Pity the unfortunate ones to miss Jack Ruch wisdom.
I came here for the SG but stayed for the lesson! Great content, thank you!
the best guitar instruction on the web- perfect pace- perfect amount of theory- perfect camera angles...
Jack is to the guitar what Bob Ross is to landscape painting. Solid advice and good vibes. ❤❤❤
You are the king of making theory palatable and approachable. You, Guthrie, and Larry have been my main teachers over the last few years. Thank you so much.
Unkle Larry????
@@iantaylor827 I figured as much, Tom is a HOOT for sure. everywhere he goes he makes his presence known. LOL.
This man is such an effective teacher, if he was a neuclear physicist we would all be able to build particle accelerators. Great lesson! Thank u
Jack Ruch is the RUclips Guitar industry’s Bob Ross
Jack - Your videos and playing is amazing - Thanks for taking the time to introduce us guitar players to these concepts.
I've watched a few of your videos now, and they are by far the easiest to understand. So many others just go from zero to 200mph in a matter of seconds. You explain well and stay with the subject so we get chance to take it in. Thank you!
Man, I can't tell you how much I love your lessons - and your tasty playing!
You're a great teacher Jack. It is rare that somebody has the patience to teach in a laid-back way like this. It's refreshing. Thank you for sharing. I'm on TrueFire yearly plan so I take lessons from you often on that website.
Fantastic lesson! Now I know how and why we get the b9 note! I kind of intuitively knew its function but could not figure out how it got there. Thanks for clarifying this.
Wow amazing explanations this is what tutorial is. Not like other videos here only showing off and not explaining what is happening.. great stuff bro thanks
Great lesson Jack. Don't think anyone does a better job of explaining the underlying theory. Thanks.
Really well explained, thank you.
You are welcome!!
I like that you've focused on using the dim7 arpeggio with just 4 notes, followed by connecting to the next resolvable chord tone; from any position on the neck no less. It helps one develop an ear for this unique scale/arpeggio and from a starting point within the familiar 7th chord. Dim7 chord/scale/arpeggio can be intimidating as they're so outside of everything, so some of us flirt with but never figure out how to use them. Well done and thanks for all the videos!
Thanks for making all your lessons so easy to understand. You’re an amazing player and teacher.
You are SO GOOD at explaining these things! I feel fortunate to have encountered your channel! Thank you!
You are so peaceful, man! Congrats, great lesson. Thank you
Beautiful lesson, thank you! 4:31 Chords: A7 Dm
Zero tension in the left hand!. Something to aspire to.
Another great lesson. Been working on these since I started following you!
Thank you my friend!
Screamingly bright lightbulb moment!
Great video. Thanks for putting it all together for me on the diminished arpeggios. Your playing is just awesome. Thanks
Total Props, Jack. Millions of people know Dim scales, but don't play them anywhere as sweet...👍
Hi Jack thanks for another great lesson. Your channel is the best on RUclips by a country mile. I'm working my way through your shades of blues course on truefire its really great. I love the way you start with straight blues sounds and then get into jazz approaches and simply explain things alot of which would have baffled me like secondary dominants and diminished and altered sounds.Your a great player and teacher. Thanks for sharing your knowledge it's much appreciated.
Thank you Anthony!
Another fantastic lesson Jack. You've really helped me fill the gaps in my playing and opened up the colour palette to help me try and achieve the type of sounds and fluency I've been searching for. You are a super teacher and a very generous person for sharing your insights. Fantastic taste, touch, tone and approach to the instrument. Thanks ever so much Brother - love 'ya man!
What an unbelieveably gifted teacher you are Sir!
I've been doing this for years without even realising it, but now I have more control over it thanks to this lesson. Great stuff 😊👍
Love how smooth you play, very musical, thanks for the great lesson!
Love the level and pace of this. For people who can play and understand theory feeling stuck...please stay that way don't do what others did and tap into the more beginner stream.
As brilliant as always. Thanks Jack!
Great Teacher, Great Lesson, Great Player, HIRE THIS PRO!!!!
This is just one great, well explained and demonstrated arpeggio walk-through!
Yes is an incredible lesson! Its interesting to me how a lot of players that I hear that play more harmonically complex or “outside” stuff can sound really odd to me but the way everything you play seems to have a wonderful resolve just makes it all sound so great! Some guys get pretty far out there which is fine but it has to sound good to the ear and you never disappoint in that regard!
Thank you so much for all of your lessons. I'm slowing but surely working through them. Especially big thank for all of the 5 chord stuff!!! love it!!
You do the note combos the others don't know exist!
Amazing! I never understood how to apply this scary sounds ‘till now😀 thanks jack🙏
One of the best guitar channels I've seen, thanks!
I have this exact SG special and I absolutely love it!
Awesome, Jack! Thank you.
Jack, Your content is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing it. Greetings from Argentina.🇦🇷
Sweet SG! Great playing + lesson Jack!
Thanks a lot!
This video just changed my life
Beautiful phrasing and excellent lessons. Thank you.
Great lesson. Thanks so much for sharing. 🤘🎸
Man your playing is as smooth as butter.
Thank you!
New to your channel. Love your approach. I've been playing and writing for many years, and there's a whole lot here for me to learn in a way that really resonates with me. Applause!
Thank you for this! Finally I'm starting to grasp how to use the diminshed stuff! 😀
Great lesson - what a beautiful technique - thank you for sharing!! Subbed!
excellent lesson and clear explanation
Finally getting into this in all Keys. Great lesson.
And the funny thing about a Flat 9 is that EVERY Guitarist that knows zero theory and plays a blues scale is playing a Flat 9 on the IV Chord!
It's only when they hear its
"wrong" they tense up.
These days I play wrong notes as much as I can, to see how I can resolve things or continue a long improv.
I did this at Guitar Institute but to be honest You explain it better.
Far better and infact resolving it the way you do it is next level.
Ill put the A7 to D minor in Ableton.
This is all just a hot bunch of yes. Thanks Jack!!
Thinking of dim chords as upper structure dom7 brilliantly changed how I think of them. Thanks Jack.
You're a great teacher!
Nicely explained and very accessible! This is always a very difficult concept for a lot of cats to grasp early on, including myself for years. Mainly because of playing cover tunes or just straight up blues or rock based material, you don't get a chance to use it. But it is definitely key to making your Blues way more cool and hip coming from the Robben Ford School! Believe me, I work on it constantly, just because it's one of those things I've never developed 100%!
Once again, thanks for explaining it in very digestible chunks to assimilate!
Don't forget about the outside chops to create an altered V7 going back to one.
Thank You Jack
great lesson thank you
Great lesson.
Another awesome lesson dude! I love this channel.
Glad to hear it!
Just what I need! Thank you.
So clearly explained. Brilliant
Wow it is like having jazz on tap thanks for sharing your incredible knowledge.
My pleasure! Thanks Martyn
It is Jazz infected mayhem, when Used in the Blues. LOL.
Nice touch and tone man😮☮️❤️✨
This is awesome !
Thankyou so much jack for this lesson.for the firstime i wach a video and understand it all. Thanks again very helpful
Very helpful lesson.thanks
Very very cool stuff😊
Man ! If only I had the interwebs back in the 80s. Thanks Jack this is a great lesson. Already using this now after an hour or so 👍
Thank you!
Thanks Jack, nice lesson as always
My pleasure!!
looks like i've found a new teacher. good lesson. thanks
Great Job Man ❤❤❤
All your guitars sound great, and this new one does too
Great job 🤘🤠🤘
The diminish scale to the major 7 is smooth!!
This is a great video.
Coolest SG on RUclips! Great lesson!
Great lesson! It will take some work to incorporate this into my playing without it sounding too self conscious, but worth the effort!
Absolutely!
I love that he's just jazzing it up on the SG
Thanks Jack! I'm enjoying the addition of the diminished arpeggios to my playing, and it's a nice addendum to your truefire courses.
Dig that SG!
0:18 - Very "Steve Khan"-ish. Excellent playing.
Useful.. thanks 😊
your the best guitare teacher
I'm trying to follow this because I love your relaxed jazzy, bluesy playing. But it's hard sometimes to see where your fingers are actually landing. I'm probably trying to run before I can walk but a few chord and arpeggio symbols would clarify some details but I guess I need to use my ears and work out exactly what notes and chords are sounding. Great lesson, clear explanation. Thanks.
Great lesson !! Liked and subbed. Look forward to checking out more of your stuff mate.
Cheers 🍻
Awesome, thank you!!
I play A phrygian dominant over the A7 which has all of the notes of C# diminished 7th arpeggio combined with all the notes of the A dominant 7th arpeggio.
I learned this in the 80's from listening to Yngwie, lol. Go figure. He owns the trademark to diminished arpeggios.
Is that the newly acquired SG I see? Nice!
Great lesson once again - Jack your playing is so smooth and tasty! Great sounding p90 pickups .
Thank you!
Nice “g” jack!
Thanks!
Thanks for your videos Jack. So very helpful. This video was excellent!! $2.00 is not a lot of money but shows you we all appreciate you!! Quick question.....what is name of the box on top of your amp? Is than an attenuator as I have seen that same piece of gear on other musicians amps.
Thanks again for sharing the knowledge!!🙏
Found answer. UA attenauator. Very expensive listing new at $1200. Must be a great piece of gear.
Wow. !! ❤
Awesome video. Love the tone of that SG. Does anyone out there know if the p90 pickups are as much of a problem as Telecaster type pickups as far as hum is concerned , and being affected by things such as fluorescent lights ?
My juniors are incredibly noisy if I’m in a Bad room for sure .
They are about 8k output. I live in a terrible place for noise but they do pickup sound a lot, if you are somewhere where your guitar is very noisy, I wouldn’t expect a huge improvement
@@heythere6983 thanks
Hi Jack! Do some gear video!
❤
Carlos!
Thanks, great insight. Do you have some approachable explanation for the relation of this diminished chord and the triton substitution for the dominant chord?
Nice axe!
Thanks!
