Why you don't have a million subscribers is beyond me. Great teaching, great playing, beautiful tone, and the fact that you are a wonderful soul for bringing so much great information to us - this is clearly one of the best guitar teaching RUclips channels in this solar system! Thank you, Jack!!!
I know right, now days guitar players outnumber the locusts
Thank you!!
I agree.
Same question here. Great lesson and demonstration
He will have millions of subscribers and Jack is more deserving of them than most of the channels that currently do.
Jack is like a calm breeze in between al those stormy neurotic screamers with their socalled 'secrets'. Love his approach and all his lessons are interesting.
So true!
Yes, I have noticed about his playing through out all the videos I have watched. The old chicken and the egg thing - is his mellow playing derived from his character or his style? I would have to say it's him.
Jack is one of the best teachers on social media - to me anyway. He breaks music theory down simply and explains it so well and then takes the ideas and applies them in a way that’s also simple but always musical. Good stuff!
Thank you!
I said it before and I'll say it again... you are one of the most melodic, tasteful and smooth players out there.
I've been on RUclips long enough to watch several channels grow from thousands of subscribers to hundreds of thousands. Most have been, in my humble opinion, deserving of said recognition. This channel, again imo, is the most deserving of a huge following. I love watching Your videos for both the educational aspect and the entertainment aspect. The intro songs always have the most beautiful music. I would watch the videos for the music alone so the instructional aspect is a giant bonus. Jack is a phenomenal teacher. I've learned so much from the videos and I've learned the concepts very quickly. This channel is going to have subscribers in millions eventually and I'll be very proud to say I was one of the first few hundred to join.
Yeah Jack, you are a wonderful teacher and hitting the points that some teachers glaze over can really help us all be a little more musical. I appreciate what you’re doing here!
How to make complicated things so clear and reachable to everyone ! Great lesson ...as always! Merci beaucoup
Proof it's not how many notes you play, but which ones. Love your playing. Class.
No smoke blowing from me , a well made video and you’ve inspired me to play guitar at 4am in Australia . I’ll be checking out more of your channel. Thanks
ARE YOU FROM BRISBANE?
Jack, thank you for all you do. I have been playing guitar for 20+ years, 15+ professionally and your Truefire course and these Patreon lessons and opened up a whole new world for me. I’m so grateful for you sharing these lessons with us and for making them so approachable 🙏🎸
I still play this it’s real nice sounding arpeggio also playing major seven chords just beautiful
Only Jack can make this look that simple but sound so tasty, and then break it down to make it easy for me to grasp. Thanks as always Jack!
Son, you got an old Soul. Love listening to you.
Great stuff for the toolbox. THX.
You have the most uncanny ability to clarify, what are sometimes elusive theory concepts, and demonstrate with such valuable and applicable steps to become a more musical and competent player. Thank you so much.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
@@JackRuch I look forward to your installments and am really glad that I’ve subscribed to your Patreon Channel.
Jack, woke up this morning having a cup of coffee and listening to your lesson. I have always loved this sound. Probably takes me back to my first time listening to George Benson! There is so much music within the major scale. I had a music lesson from this saxophonist. I wanted to “play outside,” but he would not let me escape the tonality of Ionian & Mixolydian (relative) modes.
the guy under me said it all, what beautiful lines !!
That is a great lesson for someone (me!)who is generally confused by arpeggios.
I actually can take time today to sit down with this and work on it.
Hi, and thanks from the uk 😊🇬🇧👍🏾
Not sure how you could have packed more useful info into 11:18. Understanding how to use that relative major arpeggio over the 2/5/1 just blew my mind. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Can’t think I’ve seen many with such a smooth fretting hand, looks so effortless, beautiful playing!
Thank You for this fantastic lesson on Maj7 arpeggios Jack! I knew you could play a Maj7 arpeggio over a relative minor 7th chord, but I did not know you could also play this arpeggio over a Dom7th chord, 1 whole step down. So useful and cool sounding! And love your phrasing and melodic lead ideas here as well😄
I love the way you teach. Very clear and understandable bits. 💯
Some got it and some not ! ..you got it in my opinion ! Nice and humble explaining and teaching..life ( music ) can be so easy. Thx for sharing 👍
Great lesson and beautiful playing I'm in 👍👍👍😁
I agree with all the positive comments Jack I always learn something from videos thank you. Here's my minor complaint: one day one of the RUclipsrs is going to figure out how to make the volume of the voice the same volume as the guitar. It's not just your videos, it's almost all of the guitar teaching videos. Many times I can barely hear the voice and I'll turn it up way up and I forget to turn it way down and here comes the music and last time I mentioned this to one of the teachers on RUclips a lot of people made negative comments about what I was saying. Maybe I'm deaf, but I don't think so, thanks again for all the informative info, have a great day Jack
Thanks again Jack, you’re the best and I’m telling everyone I know!
Killer- the way you explain this has cleared them bats outta my belfry- “fitting” notes/arpeggios over solid chord progressions was fuzzy math. Now you’ve turned the light on in the dusky old space. I hope I can build on this and make it stick! Thanks.
Thanks, that's great ! Simple concept leading to beautiful lines.
But the best is your playing : magnificent. The sound, touch, feel ....
@Sammywhat it's probably because he is playing a Tele undistorted and not yanking a whammy bar. I am So glad I stumbled on this video!! It's rare to hear what's actually being played on utube. Everyone seems to dime everything and just make noises. This is an Excellent video, great sound & great playing 👍👍 thank you for posting this. Well done 👏
waugh, I came across your video for the first time, I´m flashed. so good to follow, great teaching ,soulful and groovy. thank you so much!!
Thank you for that awesome lesson I’m just a beginner/intermediate guitar player trying to better understand music theory for my church worship leading Be Blessed and have a Geat Day 🙏🏾
Man, I swear to god you have the best guitar lessons channel on RUclips. Your lessons are easy to understand and not pretentious. So thank you dude!
Hey Nate thanks man! I appreciate it
Beautiful, beautiful playing Jack. So tasteful and creative.
I got home from work today, check my notifications, and you're video upload was one of them.
Instant subscribe. You break it down really well. I've been playing for 20 years have plateaued (sp?). But you just dropped another puzzle piece right in my man. Ty
This lesson has great value to me, i am actually learning something that i can use right away. Excellent!
Perfect!
Thanks for your efforts. From morocco
Just found this channel and absolutely loving it. Thanks for this great lesson Jack, it's added to my weekly practice!!
You'r a great teacher and player,,,,,,greetz from the netherlands
Thank you!
Jack, wonderful. Thanks for sharing your talent and making the time to explain the theory behind the beautiful music you make. Grateful
You are just fantastic guitar wiz thank you for all of your help time you have really opened and unlocked 🔓🔓🔓 the neck
Sounds lovely, like so much of that smooth loungy stuff we had in the 1980s, I feel like I should be wearing a white suit and sipping a cocktail in a tropical themed bar. I’m trying to make it easier to remember and to me the Cmaj arpeggio looks like a subset of the Am Dorian scale which is which is why worked so well over that progression of G major 4 2 5 1 ……. I think 😂. Love your playing and lessons.
Jack, great lesson, beautiful creative use of these jazz sub ideas for maj7 arpeggios.
That whole tone below ( sus13 sound) in the Dom7 is such a good use for this off used jazz sub, especially in the simple progression you used to demo.
Thanks for opening my eyes and ears, cheers Pete.
👍thanks jack!
Hi Jack. Loving the arpeggios over the major7’s. Thank you from an ‘ol guitar player😊
Jim from Western PA
The intervals in a chord (1-3-5-7 etc) are measured from the root of the chord not from the first note of the scale. Not to nit pick but someone just getting into theory might get a little confused. That being said I love your stuff Jack. You have a gift for coming up with really melodic lines.
Interesting point. Root is not the first note of the Scale? I see! It relates to the Chord, and as the Chord has 2, 3 or 4 notes. Can one then say it is The Root note and the other notes are the subsequent 3 5 7 9 11 13 ?

Thank you Jack! Love your playing 🍻🎸
Really great lesson.
Another amazing lesson taking us out of a robotic diatonic exercise straight to compelling musical result. Thank you Jack
I've been looking forward to another post from Jack all week. Simply the best!
Thanks Stephen!
Very handy and tasteful stuff presented in easy to understand format. Subscribed! Thanks
Very smooth and sounds very soothing to the ear!
Thank you this is a great channel you clearly explain everything and it’s extremely helpful thanks!
I absolutely loved your cover of Woman Across The River..
This lesson is really cool for an introduction to Jazz soloing. It sounds like something I think the Little River Band would have used, or has used. I quit playing several years ago, but I still enjoy watching your lessons. Thanks for helping people learn and progress. I wish you the best..Peace..Joe
Didn't have a clue about most of this stuff, thanks for sharing.

Great video and nice teaching simplifying everything and making it no harder than it needs to be❤I ll definatly be back for some more!
Where's the Mockingbird? So used to seeing you with it! Reminds me to dust off my Tele and give it some playing time.
Nice….. thanks for your help
great video, well done mate!
great lesson ! Thank you !
Wow, that example in the intro is taste...'tee'!
Muy buen trabajo, bien didáctico, espero que hagas lo mismo encadenando acordes melódicamente, gracias desde Argentina
Great lesson - thank you
Very inspiring!!
I just practiced this for an hour or more. I took your chord progression cmaj 7, A minor, D 7, and G. Looped that. Then played the Cmaj 7 arpeggio over the jam. sometimes I slide to the D. It felt right even though it wasn’t said apart of the arpeggio. Idk? But I feel like a smooth jazz player now. Witch I want to be. I’m 40 an old guy doing this. I really appreciate the lesson. Thanks 🙏 I live in Nashville. Wonder if I could set up a personal lesson?
Great lesson thanks
VERY NICE JACK
Great lesson! It might be my set up but voice volume seems much lower your guitar volume. Bout blew my ears off every time you started playing cuz I had to turn voice volume up so load to hear you. Thank you for the insights and keep ‘‘em coming!
Excellent! Very useful!
Glad it was helpful!
Really interesting ! Thanks !
😎👍👍👍Jack, that was sweet thank you.
Can you go into a little detail about your setup? In particular the Ox Box you got in the background.
Wow really great thanks 😎
