Only ski reviewer that I trust. Keep it up!
Thanks!
So glad these videos are back!
14:10 Volkl actually advertises it as an “All-mountain freeride” ski on their website.
Fair point, but they're playing fast and loose with that imo
Ladies & Gentlemen Elliott is having a “Snarkyrythmic” day 🤣😂🤣😂
Of course the BULLSCHLITZ overflows from Curated. I agree that they are shooting on a bare bones budget. A GoPro should be used on directional shots… the 360 for the ski action shots.
Just received my new Volkl Kendo 184s from Curated. Sale price 420!! Getting them mounted right away. Still skiing at A-Basin.
Oh, great price! 👍
@@RicketySkiReviews still skiing ....where ?
At 7:02 he is clearly saying it's a 17m turn radius underfoot (since you keep pausing the video it broke up the flow/order as he just said "17m" but he was obviously going down the different turn radii values from tip, underfoot and tail)....I'd also think most people are already familiar that it is obviously 88 in width underfoot anyway.....your bias is making you too critical at this point in the video. Your other comments about his hat/sunglasses and not making full curved turns (as well as filming crappy angles with a GoPro) are certainly valid though.
I agree on the rear entry boots….but a friend who is almost as old as moi had to switch to them. Bones in his feet fuzed and he could no longer get into a regular pair of ski boots. And he didn’t want to quit skiing.
Getting old SUCKS!
Oh that's awesome, I'll keep that in mind.
He actually articulated the different 3D turn radii perfectly for the 181, so that part was surprisingly accurate.*Finally broke down and got the Atomic Maverick 88s to compliment the 2023 Kendos. Same sizes as each other but to me they ski very differently, both enjoyably. Question - how fast have you gotten the Maverick 88s to go? Regardless of conditions am curious as it's a good barometer for how stable they are at speeds for folks around the 200lb range. Am under the impression the Kendos are far more stable but the reality is I appreciate the Mavericks for their enjoyabilty at slower speeds.
Can't say I see many Kendos in Tahoe area, even fewer of those Atomic 88s you love. See much more of the Mantra and Revolt here. We had 26" of May powder Sunday, I saw someone on the HEAD KORE 93. Blew me away I felt like I needed something wider than my Revolt 104s. But then in the heavy traffic areas it packed down into nasty ice lumps & hardpacked Moguls. I didn't get hurt or lose a ski, both misfortunes I witnessed so ALL GOOD!
That’s interesting, I rode Siberia next to a guy who had Kendos. Mt Rose was his home mountain but he goes to Squallywood after it closes.
@@45shrike None to be seen at Headwall or KT
@@anthonyalpha4118 guess I’ll have to bring mine on KT for spring turns or normal season if there’s no new snow
@@45shrike I was on my Stance 96s today was weird snow I'm going wider Saturday.
Not a rear entry boot, three piece boots are common from a freestyle perspective but not a true rear entry for old people
Already bought these. Gonna be a long summer before I can try them out!
Had same situation last year... staring at them on wall for 7 months. Was an exciting first day though. Advice would be go over the 3D turn radius and pressuring which part of ski does what turn beforehand. Takes a day or 2 to get used to but then it starts to become intuitive
Nice find!
"They aren't very playful..."
Evidently the Curated guys haven't watched that Volkl channel short movie "Beauty Full Send: A love letter to all mountain skiing"
I'm been called a Freerider, personally FreeRider & All mtn skier are interchangeable IMO. I do groomed & parks too maybe I'm All Mtn, but then who really gives a sh!t!
Thanks Elliot! I made the mistake with Head Kore 99's by listening to one of the Curated reviewers who I work with. They are OK for surfing in powder, but are so hard to carve turns with - even at full gas.
Oh bummer, man I wish you could try the 93s
@@RicketySkiReviews I lost 1 at Sugar Bowl 12-9-22 first day out last season. Great ski, but not in 2ft of fresh! They never found it off season either 😪
I have 2018 KORE 99's, fun bouncy fun ride in powder, essentially useless in groomed or hardpacked, became my rock skis late last season. Sorry to hear nothing's changed.
Elliot, I love your videos, however, he described the turn radius properly. You obviously heard it incorrectly.
Elliott… the tip (shovel) has a 31 meter turning radius?!?!
Note: They are using the Insta360 camera
Volkl calls Kendos a freeride ski. Maybe only by European standards where an 80-90mm ski is a fat powder board?
that's a great explanation
Some constructive criticism, every time they talk about bias you spend like 2 minutes ranting about their bias.. Maybe quickly mention it and move on? You have better things to talk about than their bias. Spend those couple minutes showing us your new tats? 😆
Ya it’s like dude we get it
good point, haha, it's hard to balance bc sometimes I get comments like "wait what is he talking about, I just started watching" lol.
I appreciate your point . That said, the ranting is what makes rickety (Elliot) so great, so real, and so entertaining.
Huh? He was talking about turn radius. Not sure why you went off on width. Also, lol at you thinking those are rear entry boots. I like watching your reviews, but when are you gonna post footy of you skiing so that you have some credibility when talking about technique?
