I thought the only version of this worth listening to was sung by Lester, Earl, & Curley with Paul, Jake, & Josh backing them. Then 60 years later, or so, I find this version of it... y'all nailed it!
You warm my heart so much! My grandfather and my father were remarkable folk musicians! Although we are thousands of miles away - the spirit of your and our folk music is the same!
These guys are great. They have the tradional bluegrass . But country music has taken songs like this and adulterated it and cut it into pieces. Great work Foghorn don't let up! keep going!
When I was little my mom and aunts would sit outside under the big maples and snap the string-beans to be canned. They'd sing songs like this. I'd say I was helping, but really what I was mainly doing was fidgeting around and goofing off. I was just happy to be out of the hot garden sitting in the cool shade. Happy memories music evokes!
This brings me back to my roots.Time and time again when I was a boy. My grandma would watch the Grand old o prey. It makes me yearn for the old simple times again.
After the Trojan War, we were sailing home and passed by this island where two women were singing and we had to tie the captain to the mast to keep him from running the ship up on the rocks. I'm pretty sure those Sirens were named Nadine and Reeb.
I like that tune. You guys are great . Can't remember the first time i heard Flatt and Scruggs sing that old song. Great to see Nadine in there. A favorite of mine.
I'm 9 years behind you. A california girl born and raised, with bluegrass somehow in my blood, or at least in my spirit, DNA? And I fall in love with all ages of boys/men. Crushes and fantasies. Especially musicians.
@@dbpw34l I'm pushing 80 and stop in almost every day and listen to a few of their songs, sometimes when I'm here alone, I crank the sound up all the way play it for hours, can hear it all thru the house
@@olddave4833 Dave, I'm all over it every day! Not sure what I would do without them and a few you should check out if you haven't. So much here that it's boggles my thoughts! (:- ))
Saw the Foghorn Stringband for the first time at the Joe Val Festival in Framingham, Ma in Feb 2016. You guys are the best. Harmonies are fantastic. Hope to see you at some the Northern festivals.
+RTRDick Didn't see them at the dance but I will for now on. What talent. I'm going to suggest to festival organizers in the North East that they be included in the lineups. Their harmonies and music selection are sesational.
Darling, I have come to tell you Though it almost breaks my heart But before the morning darling We'll be many miles apart Don't this road look rough and rocky Don't that sea look wide and deep Don't my baby look the sweetest When she's in my arms asleep Can't you hear the night birds crying Far across the deep blue sea While of others you are thinking Won't you sometimes think of me One more kiss before I leave you One more kiss before we part You have caused me lots of trouble Darling you have broke my heart

Great Song Done By A Great Band!!!🌹🌺
Nadine's driving bass playing lifts the group to such heights of rhythm - then there's her vocal contribution !

Darling, I have come to tell you
Though it almost breaks my heart
But before the morning darling
We'll be many miles apart
Don't this road look rough and rocky
Don't that sea look wide and deep
Don't my baby look the sweetest
When she's in my arms asleep
Can't you hear the night birds crying
Far across the deep blue sea
While of others you are thinking
Won't you sometimes think of me
One more kiss before I leave you
One more kiss before we part
You have caused me lots of trouble
Darling you have broke my heart
Darling, I have come to tell you
Though it almost breaks my heart
But before the morning darling
We'll be many miles apart
Don't this road look rough and rocky
Don't that sea look wide and deep
Don't my baby look the sweetest
When she's in my arms asleep
Can't you hear the night birds crying
Far across the deep blue sea
While of others you are thinking
Won't you sometimes think of me
Don't this road look rough and rocky
Don't that sea look wide and deep
Don't my baby look the sweetest
When she's in my arms asleep
One more kiss before I leave you
One more kiss before we part
You have caused me lots of trouble
Darling you have broke my heart
Don't this road look rough and rocky
