  • See how I created this incredible wooden keepsake box with a houndstooth pattern lid. The keepsake box has wooden splines that contrast some amazing figured walnut. The houndstooth pattern is made from walnut and maple pieces and turned out amazing!

    1 of the tip/tricks that I use when cutting a lid off is to set the blade just shy of cutting all the way though and then use a utility knife to finish the cut this keeps the lid from getting into the blade and then sand it like you did. Have you ever done this or seen it done

    You made the right choice with the walnut box. The pattern would be more subdued on a maple box. It's absolutely beautiful with the walnut! Nice work!

    • @NewtonMakes
      @NewtonMakes  3 года назад +1

      I was worried about that, the pattern being subdued. I might have had to add walnut edge banding or something additional to the box if it was maple.

  • @in2rock275
    @in2rock275 2 года назад +1

    Is there a reason you didn't miter your liner pieces? If the miters are tight, sometimes glue is not required as a friction fit will hold them in place. Also, the liner miters coincide with the box miters making for a very neat appearance. Nice work, just curious.
