Building a Maple Box then a Special Trick to Make It POP!
HTML-код

- I made an heirloom quality wood box and it was kind of stupid easy to build! I broke it down into a series of small steps. It starts with the basic concept of a box. Add a few curves to give it a graceful appearance. Contrasting legs really give it something extra and make the wood in the body of the box stand out. The lid looks pretty fancy, but it’s really only a few cuts, and it really brings the whole box to life. But the real kicker is the wood grain in the maple. I made the grain really pop by dying it before applying finish. It’s a super cool technique that I highly recommend you try out.

That’s beautiful. I love when a plan comes together.
So many ideas in one video. Thanks!
Beautiful box. Love the maple and wedge. Thanks
Absolutely beautiful piece, thanks for sharing.
Definitely the handle! Beautiful box!
I seriously like this project. So very well done.

I love building boxes that one is a really beautiful box.
Thank you for sharing it with us all !
Handle looks great! Beautiful box. Thanks for sharing.
Billy my boy you've done it again. Nice nice box. Great job and keep them coming.
Stunning build.
Lovely! I like it with the handle.
Looks best with the handle. Beautiful work!!
Absolutely gorgeous
Great creativity and craftsmanship and great production. Thanks.
That box is beautiful. And the handle is perfect for it
Love it especially with that gorgeous handle
Beautiful job!!!
Nice work! You have a good eye for what works.
Love it especially with the handle!
great vid and I personally think the handle finishes it off perfectly. great job.
That's a gorgeous box! Well done, sir. Well done.
Excellent video 👍 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks for posting it
Like the handle a lot. I feel like it helps break the maple lid up some. I'm getting back into woodworking after finding so many ideas on YT. Just picked me up a bandsaw and pieces of an oak tree that was cut down.
Came out awesome! I’m new to the page, but one aspect that I hope some people notice is that you have a few solid hand planes, and that’s it (and I feel is all you need). There are lots of pages that have a ton of planes, when there are only some core tools that you need to get rolling. Love it all!
The possibilities are endless and I have made a few similar I really like it
Awesome. Handle makes it for me. Nice work!
Beautiful handle!!!!!
Beautiful.. and thanks for the detailed explanation👍
Looks really great 🎉
Handle is perfect !
Awesome video man. I enjoy all your videos because you explain everything throughly and why you’re doing something the way you do it.
Handle! Beautiful box. Well done.
Handle 💯 makes the box great but your craftsmanship makes it perfect. Much applause 👏.
Absolutely love your channel!!! Your explanations are so easy to understand and your projects are beautiful!! Definitely handle!! Thank you.
Are you some kind of Genius? Love everything about it. The handle is dope, must have.
Great looking box the dye really set off
Excellent video Billy! I sure appreciate you offering templates! I will be trying some of them. This is a beautiful box that anyone would love as a gift.
I need to go back and watch again to find out the free software for making templates.
Great classy spin on a basic project! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Inspiring design beautifully made and finished. I would have used clear lacquer on the maple, but your finish brings out the grain.
I shall make one in sycamore and walnut as I have both.
Handle just completes the box, Really nice box.
Perfect!!! I’m makin’ 6 of ‘em. That dye trick is what has been separating my “nice” finished projects from the spectacular ones in the plan photos. I have always loved the Asian esthetic, and this box, with the curved side bottoms, those leg shapes and then the handle honors it so well. The handle is the cherry on top of the sundae. Am I gushing? Yeah…so???
Absolutely amazing! The handle is awesome! Fantastic box!
Thanks!
Man that is so beautiful. I love it and definitely would have put a handle on it. Great job!
That is lovely. Your lesson did a good job breaking it down into helpful steps to build one. The handle was a definite thumbs up.
Much appreciated! I'm digging it too!
I make a lot of boxes and now you have gifting me a way to think outside the box. Sorry just had to
say that. Thank you so much. Julien.
This is a great video that covers so many different topics in one go! The curved legs, the dye trick, inset lids. Thanks for all the clear and concise tutorials in all your videos. PS: really dig the handle on this box.
You know, I just couldn't decide! I finally had my daughter decide for me. And she said that I should do the handle. 😂
Great vid. Awesome box!
this is super awesome - great work and video !
Handle for sure. Beauty piece, sir!
Awesome job ! Great work !!
I LOVE the graceful curves!!
Thanks man. It gives it a classy look so we can look fancy even if we ain't. 🤣
Two things that are awesome here, the tip about cleaning up the glue and the esthetic of the box. I am going to make this box for a Christmas present for my sister. Hey, that will check a box off for me.
Billy, the box is beautiful. I'm glad that you went with the handle. Thanks for sharing the video.
There were so many choices and I don't think I could have gone wrong with most of them.
It looks great !.I've been thinking on making a nice box for my daughter in law, and this one ....oh man...! You nailed! !.it will be just like the one you made. Thank you so much.
Hey Newton, love the design and the finish of the box, you really emphasised the grain in the maple. Such a classy looking jewellery box, thanks for sharing,
That little bit of dye really gives the box that extra pop! Thanks for watching!
The extra effort to make and install the handle is quite worth it IMO. It just setts off the box! Nicely done!!
That is beautiful!! Well done! Definitely needed the handle, looks absolutely amazing!
I might do a no handle version eventually to see a side by side comparison. But I'm thinking a handle was the way to go.
Great job. And compliment also for the simple explanation
Definitely handle. Looks beautiful.
Beautiful Box... And my opinion, WITH a handle . Good job! beautiful work
Definitely with the handle !
Handle 👍
Very nice 👏
Handle adds to the looks👍
Very inspiring built, thanks for sharing. And for sure this handle !
Thanks for watching
Great job! So creative! The box came out beautiful! ❤ 👍
Handle! Very good job.
Just found your channel and started watching your videos, really like how to go through the steps to explain your process, learned a lot by watching. Thanks and keep of the great work.
I learned some new stuff. Thank you!
Handle for sure. Looks great!
Beautiful box!! I love your style of presenting. It is educational to newbies like me without being condescending and it also shows great projects that do not require every whiz bang tool there is. Thanks for everything!!
The goal is to show my journey, what I'm doing, and why, with the hopes that it may help others. Maybe they learn something they want to do. Maybe they learn what not to do.
Very very good explanation. Really enjoyed watching your workmanship, and thought pattern on how to improve a project. Keep it up. U dun GOOD!
You do awesome work, very nice
Handle. Beautiful
Love this brother, I'm running with it, thanks for the inspiration!
Great video. Great box. Like it with the handle.
Love this box and your method in building it. I am planning on building a keepsake box for my only Grand Daughter for her High School graduation next spring. You have given me some ideas I may incorporate into her gift. Now a sub !!
That sounds like the perfect opportunity to make a really nice piece!
Un trabajo MARAVILLOSO!!!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Beautiful box!
Thank you
Very Nice!
That box is probably one of my favourites. I've already made a "test" one out of pine, and it looked great. Next is Huon Pine and Blackwook
That's awesome!!
Nice box, I really like the legs. Going to attempt something similar I love box making as well
handle for sure, very nice box
A very well-done and informative video.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Glad to hear you enjoyed it
With handle. Very beautiful.
Just found your channel - this is a beautiful box! Thanks for sharing.
Your moving diagrams are the best thing on YT.
Nice box I like the handle 👍👍
Beautiful job.
Thanks!
Definitely with handle, looks beautiful
Handle. Genius, oriental influenced design. The Wenge sculpted "legs" are fantastic. I will try and emulate the legs as I have been thinking of corner solutions with outside contrasting wood.
Awesome video. Love this build.
Brother, definitely the handle! Looks amazing! It balances the box out in my opinion.
That's the thing. I was worried about the balance if I didn't have one. It was good without a handle, but it does give it that little bit extra.
Great work Nicely done.
Thanks, Phil!
What a nice project. I love it. This is artistic. Thanks for sharing. greetings from El Salvador.
Yeah ... like the design ... the contrast in woods is nice. I'll try maple and walnut. BTW, yeah , I got my maple stock by salvaging a very large maple tree (over two-foot diam base diameter) downed in a storm on a friend's land. Have a huge stock now .... and more than enough to make your box. Thanks for the idea.
good job. I like the handle.
I thought it was crazy when you said you were gonna dye it but i had stain in my brain and not dye, let alone thinned dye. Boy, did it ever come out nicely. Well done. Makes me itchy to try something similar.
good job. I am active in large pieces and am starting a laser engraving aspect to make things really personal!
Thanks
