I’ve always grown up putting people before myself, and, although it did make me happy to give to others more than they gave me, I always felt empty and regretful afterwards. I justified this by thinking to myself “being selfless is better than being selfish!”
This video honestly made me look at this whole thing through a different perspective. How can I continue to give to others if I have nothing to give? But most importantly, what do I GET out of this?? I must love and take care of myself and ensure MY OWN survival before anyone else’s. This is the mindset I need to have. Thank you for this video.

Keep me in mind the next time you think about prioritizing someone else over yourself.
I was never a people pleaser. I just stood up for everybody and ended up getting the "fatter end" (in my language used to say you got the worst part)
So I prioritised myself in the last few years, and when you do, everything will become way easier.
People start to respect you, give you your space and most importantly you start to respect yourself.
Hope to see you around! Sending love.

3:13 stock trading is gambling, but also totally devoid of personal connection, which is a very important part of charity work too.

People do get personal validation from helping others, but i dont think you can call that selfish or self serving, especially when there are other much easier vices available.
You are sacrificing time, effort and resources.

By this way of thinking, everything is selfish. Which may be true, but not a very useful pattern of thinking, or at least unnecessarily confusing for every day use.
Everything may be selfish, but there is also levels to it.
A selfish behaviour, that also benefits others, should be distinguished from selfish behaviour that only benefits you, no?

I do understand your way of looking at this.
While I don't agree stock trading is gambling it's has a lot of personal connection. I think you meant connecting with other people.
I outlined selfishness in the video, and yes almost everything we do is selfish. Everything is confusing untill it's not. The point was to normalise such a frowned upon term.
      We literally agree.

@@alexrupic i agree that we agree. But i dont like the idea of normalising the term as a whole.
As i mentioned, there is a division, and most selfishness should be frowned upon.
Though it is good to be self aware about the root selfishness in charity work, the results are opposites.
