I played the Japanese version of this game, and so I wasn't aware of the changes done to the English version until recently. In the Japanese version, Link writes the Quest Log and he shares some of his personal thoughts and feelings regarding Zelda that we don't see in any other version, except the Russian I think (if I am wrong, feel free to correct me). However, I think they are important given how it is the original version. Anyways, I've translated his notable comments here if anyone is interested: 過酷だった剣の試練を乗り越え マスターソードの力を余さず使いこなせる 肉体と精神力を 手に入れた きっとゼルダ姫も 成長を祝福してくれているだろう (“Finally I have overcome the difficult Trial of the Sword. I have gained the strength, both physically and mentally to wield the Master Sword to its fullest. I believe that this will also make Zelda happy and that she will bless my growth.”) According to Toffa's grandfather, Princess Zelda once rode a white horse gracefully. They said it was a beauty unmatched in this world.”) 13か所の思い出の地を巡りゼルダ姫の想いを受け取った。 (“I have visited and taken in all 13 locations where Zelda's memories were.”) 思い出の中のゼルダ姫はいつも一所懸命だった。。。 (“Within all those memories, Zelda was always striving forward with all her might.”) 一刻も早くゼルダ姫を救い出して彼女の笑顔をもう一度この目で見たい。 ("I need to save Princess Zelda as soon as I possibly can, for I wish to see her smile once more with my own eyes.") This expands on Link's personality at least a little bit, I'm not sure why Nintendo of America left it out. It also shows how he feels very personally attached to Zelda, i.e. he worries about not being able to save her in time, writes about her beauty, and wants to make her proud of him. The reason this is significant is because no other girl is mentioned in this journal. Yes, one could argue that Link only writes about Zelda's beauty because others have told him of it, but many other girls like Mipha also had countless people adoring their beauty, and Link doesn't write about it so we can never see his personal thoughts of it. Clearly he thinks about Zelda a lot throughout his quest, which is why I started supported their pairing. It's also nice to see his wish come true at the end, as he does get to see her smile once more. Anyways, just some extra information to consider.
Wait, if all those options to dialogue talk with people as link, are him talking, that means link is extremely sarcastic to literally everyone he talks to, that made my day
When talking to a lovestruck/frustrated man, Link can reply: "love reigns supreme" or just "good luck with that". And says multiple times "...Whatcha doin?" I love the tidbits of personality we can see with dialogue.
The last scene shows one more thing besides the falling petals (good catch btw my man) it shows Link walking NEXT to Zelda. Before in almost every cutscene Link is following Zelda, demonstrating knight and princess roles. He is always following her and now they walk side by side as equals. They've reached a point where they are beyond knight and princess. Not to mention that she tells him that she is alright with not being able to hear the voice in the sword anymore and that she is fine with that. Before she was always frustrated with herself and her life and in her diary she goes over how Link feels the same way but just keeps a brave face. They both feel the weight of the world and deal with it in different ways but look to confide in each other rather than putting it out there for the world. These two were left with a destiny neither asked for and have lost what little they had for it. The Champions, their friends, their families, their way of life. Even if you wanted to be a realist and say not everyone who shares trauma necessarily falls in love it sure as hell puts your foot in the door. It may just be in my head but the Triforce and this world loves balance. Power, Courage, and Wisdom. The two who concur the bad guy has something more then just a list for power. They have love and it can be the most powerful thing any one can experience in life or fiction.
I always thought it was just for Zelda because she was always silenced and that it blooms in the wild, meaning that Zelda wants to be free and not just stuck in the castle.
Or maybe there is a 4th outcome; He didn't love her before the calamity, but after the calamity he regained his memories and realizes he loves her after the calamity? Idk lol
I always assumed that Link walked behind Zelda in the memories because he's her subordinate. Kind of like how Prince Philip walks behind Queen Elizabeth, even though he's her husband. No one walks next to the monarch. In the very last cut scene of the secret ending, they walk next to each other, or I guess he runs to her and she waits for him and then they walk together. It symbolized to me that their relationship had changed to be more equal, maybe more intimate, definitely less formal.
In that last scene....when you get all your memories. If you look at the Japanese version of the game, the adventure log is actually in first person and there is one extra entry, where link states something along the lines of" I just want to see her smile one last time" which explains part of the extra ending with Zelda awkward smile. Because we all know of a "fake smile" which is assumed to be what she does in the memories. The weird smile at the end is the smile link wanted to see again. Its her true smile and not the fake one.
A other thing to think about is the memory when Link is practice with his sword and Zelda is talking to him, instead of continuing to practice he listens to her. I don’t know if this means anything but I would think that someone who did not care about her and what she thinks, would just ignore her.
Link still cares about Zelda, even though he don't remember everything. He began to care about about her 'cause of all the time they spent together, long before they reunited 100 years later. And yeah, they deserve to stay together.
Links actions are louder than words, also when Zelda mentions he talks to her about personal things, a guy won't tell a girl his personal secrets if he doesn't trust or like her, it is his job to protect her and save her but along the way they both learn about each other, when opening up and spending a lot of time together that develops friendship which can turn into feelings and which then turns into love it takes time Ocarina of time ok I'm done now
Melody Stream It’s quite relevant in the Japanese version that he feels something for her whether its platonic or romantic. But how would we ever know because NoA cheated us ;-;
Unlike in Spirit Tracks when Link is clearly smitten with Zelda right away when he looks up at her and then gets scolded for daring to look at the Princess. That version of Link and Zelda reminded me so much of Ocarina of Time where kid Link meets kid Zelda for the first time and like in Spirit Tracks, Zelda feels something inherent and deep about their first connection that she spills all of her doubts and worry about who her father is making deals with right away.
Well...... Yes, because i picked my first zelda game up when i was a kid(oracle of seosons) and then i got minish cap, so ive never heard of the games before then.... So i didn't
Also Link's conversations with npcs are short and closed-ended but when it comes to Zelda, he actually says a lot. Like when he gave her advice about her horse and when he opened up to her about why he's silent all the time.
There is actually a second example of failing to do a knight's duty. When Zelda is praying at the Spring of Power and cries "What's wrong with me?!", he turns away from guarding the entrance to look at her, presumably to talk to her. Normally knights don't react to the conversation around them. Loved the point about the endless petals. The memories and character development within really made this game amazing. I was slightly disappointed in the ending videos though.
I've been playing LoZ since 1986... I refuse to believe that this dude goes through all the stuff he does, in every interpretation of the franchise because 'he's just doing his job'. In my humble opinion, the romance narrative adds depth to the games. Perhaps it's his love for her that gives him the courage to do the things he does.
I like to think so as well, specially after playing Skyward Sword. I like to think that every incarnation of the spirit of the hero tries to save the descendant of the Goddess incarnate because the love between Link and Zelda is also reborn (granted, they are not hinted to be in love in every game, but still).
But wait... in the cut scene a bit before 10:34 you see Link and Zelda on a hill with two statues that Pikango describes as two married people embracing a simple yet beautiful piece could that also mean something?
Agreed, Link is deliberately a silent protagonist so you can fulfill your own fantasy as you like. But the falling petals I think is a great hint. I ship ZeLink, and I think they are a cute, wholesome couple, so I am going to play with the mindset that they fell in love with each other while Link was protecting Zelda. And this entire section where Link was finding his memories is a beautiful puzzle where he rediscovers his own feeling for Zelda. Imo BOTW is a very Japanese game. In my limited understanding of that culture, the more you love, deeply and truly, the actual less you say (no great outburst of confession, not necessarily the great swooping kiss).
In the memory where Zelda is praying to the statue of goddess, Link is in the background and turns his head to listen, and turns around at the end when she starts crying.
I think that last one proves that Link loves Zelda. It is a magical world, and the magic of the flower petals we're indeed proof of there love for each other, also I think they are sole mates always getting reincarnated
Radiofloyd 235 all its confirmed (kinda) is that it’s not coming 2020..... if Zelda games weren’t infamous for delays I’d put money on a 2021 release date
@@shadowcastyt Nah. If they're making age calamity, it seems clear to me they're trying to buy time. I'm guessing it's gonna be in early 2022 or late 2021.
You can actually get away with the thunder helm in gerudo city and you can definitely see link's face if you move the camera correctly. He doesn't blush but he does sort of smile and look nervous.
I feel like Urbosa's wink was less "You might be king of Hyrule" and more of "I know you want to save Zelda, but don't forget about the rest of the kingdom."
That could still be seen as romantic tho. She knows that link thinks about zelda a lot which means link is obvious enough about his affections towards her.
It was definitely a nod to a romance between Link and Zelda. Like in Skyward Sword, they're going to rebuild/build Hyrule together...if you know what I mean.
I was thinking about it late last night and I think I found more evidence...So at the end of the game Zelda says that she wants to “restore Hyrule to its former glory.” To do that, she’ll need a few things; citizens and a king and queen. Zelda has to be able to have offspring so she can pass down the royal blood and have a family. That immediately rules out the Zora, Gorons, and Gerudo. She’ll need a spouse she can have children with. The most obvious choice is Link, as she knows that he is reliable and capable of protection. Plus, when you defeat Thunderblight Ganon, Urbosa says these exact words before her departure, “Oh, and take good care of Hyrule.” She even winks for good measure. Could she be implying that Link could be the future king of Hyrule? Coincidence? I think not! Edit: I finished my second playthrough of the game and I think I found more evidence. After stating that she wants to restore hyrule to its former glory, Zelda also says to Link, “But it all begins with us.” Could she be implying that Link should help her as a ruler of the rebuilt Hyrule?
That's what I thought too. Also in the champion's ballad, she says that when she sees Zelda's mom in the afterlife, she says she'll tell her not to worry, that "her daughter is in good hands."
For me personally, i cared about Zelda. After the last memory cutscene i was like : "Alright Ganon, get ready to go down" because i was really angry for all the stuff he did to Zelda and Links other Friends
I wonder if because link trains to be a hero his whole life the king didn't didn't want him to learn what to do with emotions because they get in the way of being the perfect knight. Zelda even states the pressure to be the best made him not express his emotions outwardly so his loyalty wasn't questioned. In the real world repressing emotions growing up can cause serious problems when events demanding those emotions happen. Let's face it this king was an asshole when it comes to emotions, just look at anytime he's with Zelda, it wouldn't be that strange of an idea that he would repress links emotions so he would do as he commands no matter what. It's possible link didn't talk at all when he met Zelda because of it, she even thinks he might be gifted, a term used to describe blind, deaf, and mute people mostly in the middle ages but still used today by some. Link seeming to talk to people after his full loss of memory isn't that weird when you consider this theory, he doesn't remember repressing his emotions but he still doesn't know what to do with them half the time. That could be why he seem so awkward at times or just doesn't know how to respond to a situation.
I believe the gifted part was that she just thought he was someone who didn't have to do hard work to be where he is, that he was just naturally gifted for his role, because she mentions saying she believed he didn't go through a day of hardship, yet she realised she was wrong if she believed him disabled I doubt she would think he had lived a life free of hardship
@@poopidkwhy5929 Nah, if any of the champions come back, it'll just ruin the story. You won't feel the dramatic impact of their deaths anymore and they wouldn't be as special either.
Don’t forget the Japanese version of the game. All of the Quest Journal entries are set in Link’s perspective and he literally says “I remembered all the things we've been through. Even just a little bit sooner, I wish to see her smiles again with my own eyes.”
The endless love between the Goddess and her chosen Hero. Remember that before Skyward Sword Hylia loves the hero according to the manga and while the manga is not cannon. The relationship between the first Zelda and the first Link is definitely romantic. Link went on his journey to save Zelda not the land. Yes you can argue he wanted to save his friend but Zelda's feelings for Link are made quite clear even if not stated explicitly while Links reactions to her also imply he loves her. Plus in the ending of Skyward Sword they stay in the Surface together with the implication that they were together (or going to be) in a romantic relationship.
Though many would argue that Link and Zelda hold no feelings for one another in Twlight Princess. I think it just depends on the incarnation. They'll have a bond but whether it goes further to romance is up to interpretation.
Most of the games are going into kinda romance. Skyward Sword, Minish Cap and Breath of the Wild are very clear, Ocarina of Time and Wink Waker its implied, but not realy shown. In the Downfall Timeline, its even more unclear. Yes, they share a bond, but its mostly friendly, if that.
Besides, why would you still do your job even though the one who ordered you died and everyone loyal to that person is also dead? He protected Zelda to the end, out of love. He could take the princess's arm and run to try and dodge the beam, but he wanted to make sure that Zelda would make it out alive? I don't know, maybe
Also, before running away, he probably wasn’t near Zelda. He could have just run away for his life without her, but he grabbed her and they ran away together. It probably took him some time to find her so they can run away, and also it’s difficult to protect someone else while trying to escape from an army of deadly robots. Love? I think not.
I feel like Link would uphold his duties no matter what. You forget that he isn't just some random guy. He's the reincarnation of the hero of legend, and the wielder of the Triforce of Courage. Being a hero is literally in his blood, and what do heroes do? They protect people and fight until their last breath. I do think Link loves (or at least cares for) Zelda, but this is not proof.
You're forgetting something important, even though there are instances that show that Link only sees Zelda as a friend, there ARE instances that show he's in love with her, you pointed them out yourself. So no matter what the count is for the non-romantic section, the fact remains that the romance IS there.

Viewer Online101 WODNOWHXKE I’m sorry, this just made me scream because ima hardcore fangirl that ships Zelda and Link a lot (I flip out a lot when it comes to ships like these) but you pretty most likely answered everything, thank you ☺️
He also made a point of saying that it's based purely on perception, and the lack of Link emoting keeps a constant shroud over his feelings. You can look at a scene and say "aww, how romantic", but that doesn't prove that there's anything being output from Link's side.
Endless petals! Cool, I never noticed that! :) It could be that he's so focused on his knight duties that he doesn't show/realize his feelings, which is kinda sad, poor Link deserves a break! Either way I'm fine with knowing that Zelda loves him ❤
Concerning the first point of your argument, there's another moment where Link drops his duties as the appointed knight to show affection for Zelda: in the memory-scene at the Shrine where he stands watch, back turned to Zelda, while she first prays standing in the water, then laments her powerlessness and lack of understanding. At the end of that scene, Link breaks his vigil to turn toward her as she despairs. Then the camera fades out. I think that's another point in favor of the Zelda-Link romance theory. Again though, the scene is potentially ambiguous, which points to your main argument that you as the player will see what you choose to interpret from the game. Thanks for the fun video!
He might be protecting her because he does like her. It's like when someone says "you better protect your bf/gf" and you say to yourself "Mate, I already said I would protect them with my life" but still #Zelink
In the JP version of the game Link did actually have a journal! It was the quest log in the shiekah slate! He would sometimes make little side comments when writing down sidequests. And there was a part where he mentioned that he wanted to see Zelda's smile again. Unfortunatly though we were robbed of this in the english translation.
@@Spantzcatdog To be fair people really complained a lot about Zelda having voice acting so it is not a stretch people might have gotten irrationally angry about link actually expressing personal thoughts
I'm pretty sure Link does in fact love Zelda. Just think about it, it is his job to protect Zelda. But he shows so much affection and support. I mean he listened when Zelda wanted to go to Mt. Lanayru. And she said it personally, not all apointed knights get this kind of information. She saved Zelda in the 17th Memory and took his life for her. Now perhaps the King may have been killed when the Calamity occured. So I may Conclude that if Link thought the King was dead, he would save himself because he won't take orders anymore. Now if Link had loved Zelda, he would stay and protect her, if you talk to Kass when you finish his Quests. He will say "Her apointed Knight gives his life, shields her figure, and pays the price." It implys that Link had affections for Zelda, every time Zelda says something personal to Link, he listens. I want to write more, but I'm gonna play Majora's Mask now.
Link would risk his life to save anyone, he's a hero. Also what affection, throughout all the cutscenes, he just stands there silently looking neutral.
Also the fact that "it's his job" doesn't make it so that him protecting her is evidence that he specifically doesn't love her. It more disqualifies it as evidence because he could love her and do his job OR he could have no feelings for her and still just do his job
This popped up in my feed, and since I couldn't remember if I had watched it I decided to tune in. While you make a great point about the petals, there is something about them that you may have overlooked unless you mentioned it in one of the videos connected to this one. Many travelers are found in various spots in the overworld, with most appearing in more than one place. They are usually in pairs, being attacked, and are often searching for something. The two that are important for this circumstance are named Tye and Sorelia. They are found in at least two locations, with one being in Central Hyrule and the other near a shrine in Faron. Their quest object? Finding a rare flower known as the Silent Princess. Why? According to the legend Tye tells you, if you swear your love before its freshly plucked blossom, you and your partner will live a charmed life. As you know they're not just any petals, they're Silent Princess petals, and they are surrounded by the flowers themselves. Their love for one another is doubly hinted at.
Theirs two people in this world; those who ship zelink, also known as those who are correct, then those who ship link and mipha, also known as those who are wrong
Oh yes, this is also a world where one shipper can't accept the other shippers opinion if it's different than theirs. Proving that a good amount of shippers are total d-bags.
The Great Thing About Link Is That You Don't Feel Like You Are Controlling Link, You Feel Like YOU ARE Link. So, If You Love Zelda, Then Link Has Affections For Her. If You Don't Care About Zelda, Then Link Doesn't Have Affections For Her. Simple As That!
I disagree. Why? Because Link..has a character of his own at this point. It's very bizarre because Aonuma insists he's an avatar and all that stuff, but he's now officially a named character and not re-nameble, his dialogue trees have plenty of personality in how he says things and even what he's willing and not willing to do. And then there's this: "13か所の思い出の地を巡りゼルダ姫の想いを受け取った。 (I have visited and taken in all 13 places where Zelda’s memories were.) 思い出の中のゼルダ姫はいつも一所懸命だった。。。 (Within all those memories, Zelda was always working forwards with all her might.) 一刻も早くゼルダ姫を救い出して彼女の笑顔をもう一度この目で見たい。 (I need to save Zelda as quickly as I can, for I wish to see her smiling once more.) After recovering Master Sword: I finally recovered the legendary Sword of Evil’s Bane, The Master Sword. It might be just my imagination, but I feel the Sword is also happy about this. Zelda still keeps her hope up that one day I will rescue her by continuing her struggle against the Calamity in Hyrule Castle But…do I have enough strength to save her as now? Finally I have overcome the difficult Trial of the Sword. I have gained the strength, both physically and mentally to wield the Master Sword to the fullest. I believe that Zelda will also be happy and gives blessing to my growth." This is the direct translation of the Journal entries for the memories you gather across the game, and are told in in first person from Link's viewpoint. Forget the shipping aspect some may read into the entries...why is there an ambivalence about Link not having a character when for all intents and purposes he IS becoming one?
Hey NBC, Heres a fact. One of the Nintendo workers(??) Were asked the question, "If Link had a girlfriend, who would it be?" and he replied with something like "It would Be Zelda."
Haha that would be incredible..They made a movie franchise out of Resident Evil.. Zelda needs to be next ❤❤ Can you imagine how cool the Guardian and Lynel fight scenes would be!!
I know many people already know this, but I'll just say it *because I can.* In memory #15, "The return of Calamity Ganon", Mipha says to Zelda, "This is rather embarrassing to say out loud, but it helps me when I think about-" And then she gets cut off to Calamity Ganon returning. EMBARRASSING, 'WHEN I THINK ABOUT'. Link? Hey, Link, you probably already knew that! Don't act so shocked!
Even if he doesn't remember Zelda, he can just fall in love with her again? Btw it's absolutely clear they love each other, the whole game is based on that fact.
2:39 what if link loved zelda before, he dosen't recover all his memories but still loves or falls again in love with her ?? That could be another possibility...
SIMPLE ANSWER!!!!! Does link love zelda? Remember how you said you the player decide the affects of the game? WELL THEN THAT PROVES IT! Link or you the player can decide if they do. Unless Nintendo pulls some crap and ruins the relationship in ballad of the champions DLC. So you decide if link likes zelda. SO we did it. Also if link doesn’t like Mipha or Zelda then Papaya likes link but doesn’t know it. Also the stable girl that you save all the time also “I feel less anxious with you around...” You feel less anxious around the person you love right? So women really like link. Everyone does. So I just wanna say the women if hyrule love link
“And oh, take care of Hyrule” said by Urbosa was a dead giveaway for me. It’s that moment in the movie when the mentor figure clearly sees what the future holds, even if the protagonist doesn’t understand. To which the mentor replies, “You will, someday”. That’s the equivalent of this scene. “Take care of the Princess AND Hyrule” *winks*. That’s the closest to “everyone can see it but you” that BOTW gets.
This is so good!! You deserve more viewers, I agree that link loves zelda and I have another reason, 100 years later hyrule is doing fine, calamity is still alive but not really doing that much except guardians, which the NPCs stay away from and the blood moon, which they don't even acknowledge. So link did not have to go to save hyrule which most people probably thought he was doing, hyrule does not need saving BUT princess Zelda does, so link went through all that trouble to save zelda, which is probably more then a appointed knight will do! Proving that link loves zelda and another point to the zelink shippers Please tell me if you disagree or I got something wrong!
im a zelink shipper myself!! yeah! ""So link did not have to go to save hyrule which most people probably thought he was doing, hyrule does not need saving BUT princess Zelda does, so link went through all that trouble to save zelda, which is probably more then a appointed knight will do! Very interesting BUT, in the game I believe the king or Impa say that Zelda's powers are waning and she wouldn't be able to hold Ganon for very long so the whole Kingdom was still in danger. And then when you confront Ganon, Zelda says she can no longer hold him which is when he breaks out and you fight him. So Link was saving Hyrule just as much as he was saving Zelda. But I still support Zelink and hope that its true in this game!
You guys have some goodpoints!!! I thought impa said Zelda needed help because she was dying, but now I think into it more if she did did then so would her sealing power!! At least there was enough points in the video to get zelink out on top!!
In the Japanese version of this game, the quest journal actually doubles as Link’s diary. One particular sentence he comments in it that stuck to my mind and made me think he does have have romantic feelings for her was when he says “I want to see her smile again” after he recovers all his memories
Something to add to the video that should not be overlooked; I believe there is a dialogue from Impa after you get all your memories back where she states that "you and the princess were very close".
You said that the fact that Link saved Zelda from the Yiga was non-romantic because it's his job as a bodyguard to do so, but what makes you assume that he did it ONLY because he's her bodyguard? Why can't his saving her life be both of of love and duty together?
I'm pretty sure Nintendo leaves the decision up the player. They obviously hint at the ship but never seem to make it canon, even in games where it seems a lot stronger (like in Skyward Sword) The reason for this is that they know not all fans ship zelink, and they don't to make Link do anything they players wouldn't want him to do because he's supossed to be a blank slate characer that you project on (although tbh it's starting to get a bit old now) To me, he really does like her, he was just too nervous to tell her in the beginning because he was worried about what the concequences of telling her would be. And as for the ending, tbh, I just think the ending kinda sucked. Link is not a robot, he's shown to be a very expressive person in-game. So the favt that he did NOTHING at the end, not even comfort Zelda was really unsatisfying. In my opinion this was one of those moments where the "blank slate charcter" thing really worked against itself. Nintendo doesn't want to make Link do anything the player wouldn't but the thing is, why wouldn't the player want him to embrace Zelda at the end? Even if it was just platonic. So to me it was just out of character, even for Link. And since that particular moment was ooc, it could still be possible for him to have had feeling for Zelda after he got his memories back (I mean look at her, she's absolutely adorable!) But hey, I'm just huge Zelink trash so if you don't agree with me that's fine.
I think it would be pretty cool if you had the choice to show affection to a certian character that many people seem to ship (personally, for me: Zelink) and based off of that decision could change the final ending of it. Just an idea, considering I'm still a bit new :/
My canon, or the story i create in my game, is that link had romantic feelings for zelda, but after experiencing this new version of his world, meeting new people, everytime he recovered a new piece of memory, it felt like someone else's memories. The link that had a hard time choosing zelda or mipha, died 100 years ago. My link saved the princess and hyrule, out of respect of his past self, and his own soul. Because link began this journey without his memories, and accepted the task nonetheless.
Wow, spent literally the entire day yesterday making this. Hope you guys enjoy! Question: What team are you guys on?

This expands on Link's personality at least a little bit, I'm not sure why Nintendo of America left it out.

It's Power, Wisdom, and Courage.

Well said
A other thing to think about is the memory when Link is practice with his sword and Zelda is talking to him, instead of continuing to practice he listens to her.

Links actions are louder than words, also when Zelda mentions he talks to her about personal things, a guy won't tell a girl his personal secrets if he doesn't trust or like her, it is his job to protect her and save her but along the way they both learn about each other, when opening up and spending a lot of time together that develops friendship which can turn into feelings and which then turns into love it takes time Ocarina of time ok I'm done now
Kinda a classic romance if you ask me a girl falling in love with her protector

It’s quite relevant in the Japanese version that he feels something for her whether its platonic or romantic. But how would we ever know because NoA cheated us ;-;
Unlike in Spirit Tracks when Link is clearly smitten with Zelda right away when he looks up at her and then gets scolded for daring to look at the Princess. That version of Link and Zelda reminded me so much of Ocarina of Time where kid Link meets kid Zelda for the first time and like in Spirit Tracks, Zelda feels something inherent and deep about their first connection that she spills all of her doubts and worry about who her father is making deals with right away.
@Melody Stream He began to love her when they got to know each other.

I feel like he definitely likes her back, but it's in his character to internalize all his feelings, to everyone except her of course
Haha, yes, that true. He opened up to her and told her why he rarely spoke. That was when she realized how alike they were.

Joshua B yup exactly my thoughts
That could still be seen as romantic tho. She knows that link thinks about zelda a lot which means link is obvious enough about his affections towards her.
Joshua B That the best job promotion ever
Exactly, like a “don’t forget about everyone else.”
So basically, Zelda wants to fuck link and make babies to start a new kingdom?

Jean Mahoney *brain explosion*
Callum TheCrazyP9 Ah c’mon, no one wants to clean that up!

Plus in the ending of Skyward Sword they stay in the Surface together with the implication that they were together (or going to be) in a romantic relationship.
macalao dm Your right. Hylia's descendants had to have a first father to have been born.
That's so sweet... I'M NOT CRYING! (Maybe a little...)
Though many would argue that Link and Zelda hold no feelings for one another in Twlight Princess. I think it just depends on the incarnation. They'll have a bond but whether it goes further to romance is up to interpretation.
hyrule historia uses it so the manga is canon
Most of the games are going into kinda romance. Skyward Sword, Minish Cap and Breath of the Wild are very clear, Ocarina of Time and Wink Waker its implied, but not realy shown. In the Downfall Timeline, its even more unclear. Yes, they share a bond, but its mostly friendly, if that.
With a direct sequel coming though, there will be a cannon “true” ending
Besides, why would you still do your job even though the one who ordered you died and everyone loyal to that person is also dead? He protected Zelda to the end, out of love. He could take the princess's arm and run to try and dodge the beam, but he wanted to make sure that Zelda would make it out alive? I don't know, maybe
I wish i can like your comment 10000 times
Zan You do know the king literally told him what to do at the start of the game right? His spirit was still around
He’s literally the embodiment of courage. I get the feeling he would protect anybody he was able to, including strangers.

7:00 If you wear the Thunder Helm you can see his face better. He smiles and looks to his right, implying he is thinking of someone.
Maggie Rath 🥰 Tanks
Also the fact that "it's his job" doesn't make it so that him protecting her is evidence that he specifically doesn't love her. It more disqualifies it as evidence because he could love her and do his job OR he could have no feelings for her and still just do his job
The memory descriptions are very different in the Japanese version. You should check it out 😉😉😉
This popped up in my feed, and since I couldn't remember if I had watched it I decided to tune in.
Ok. That's not a dickish way to put it at all.
The JaGGeDGaM3r hm i see you are a man of culture and intellect as well
There are the LinkXPaya shippers, but no one seems to want to acknowledge them...
Oh yes, this is also a world where one shipper can't accept the other shippers opinion if it's different than theirs. Proving that a good amount of shippers are total d-bags.
What about people who ship link and sidon
And then there's this:
"13か所の思い出の地を巡りゼルダ姫の想いを受け取った。 (I have visited and taken in all 13 places where Zelda’s memories were.)
思い出の中のゼルダ姫はいつも一所懸命だった。。。 (Within all those memories, Zelda was always working forwards with all her might.)
一刻も早くゼルダ姫を救い出して彼女の笑顔をもう一度この目で見たい。 (I need to save Zelda as quickly as I can, for I wish to see her smiling once more.)
After recovering Master Sword:
I finally recovered the legendary Sword of Evil’s Bane, The Master Sword. It might be just my imagination, but I feel the Sword is also happy about this.
Zelda still keeps her hope up that one day I will rescue her by continuing her struggle against the Calamity in Hyrule Castle
But…do I have enough strength to save her as now?
Finally I have overcome the difficult Trial of the Sword. I have gained the strength, both physically and mentally to wield the Master Sword to the fullest.
I believe that Zelda will also be happy and gives blessing to my growth."
This is the direct translation of the Journal entries for the memories you gather across the game, and are told in in first person from Link's viewpoint. Forget the shipping aspect some may read into the entries...why is there an ambivalence about Link not having a character when for all intents and purposes he IS becoming one?
I prefer the Mipha romance :3
Ankita Nair damn
Chi Panda I like the feeling of link and Zelda but at the same time I think there better as like friends
TheOriginal Unaleska ahhh no i dontttt like this fish
We know he remembers Zelda because when the rito warrior asks you why you want to free the divine beasts one of the options are to save Zelda
I loved this dialogue option
Hey NBC, Heres a fact.
One of the Nintendo workers(??) Were asked the question, "If Link had a girlfriend, who would it be?" and he replied with something like "It would Be Zelda."
6:41 so...
Paya is a Zelink shipper AND a link fangirl.
okay.
Lmao.
Well I am too sooooo
THEY NEED TO MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF THIS GAME!!!
Haha that would be incredible..They made a movie franchise out of Resident Evil.. Zelda needs to be next ❤❤ Can you imagine how cool the Guardian and Lynel fight scenes would be!!
I know many people already know this, but I'll just say it *because I can.*
In memory #15, "The return of Calamity Ganon", Mipha says to Zelda, "This is rather embarrassing to say out loud, but it helps me when I think about-" And then she gets cut off to Calamity Ganon returning. EMBARRASSING, 'WHEN I THINK ABOUT'. Link? Hey, Link, you probably already knew that! Don't act so shocked!
you think about link clotheless yeah we know dirty mipha
Even if he doesn't remember Zelda, he can just fall in love with her again? Btw it's absolutely clear they love each other, the whole game is based on that fact.
How is it based on that fact. Link doesn't even know Zelda when he wakes up.
So I just wanna say the women if hyrule love link
this video was very profresional subbed 👌
Jordan Daudu thanks! 👌 👌 👌
NintendoBlackCrisis 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
“And oh, take care of Hyrule” said by Urbosa was a dead giveaway for me. It’s that moment in the movie when the mentor figure clearly sees what the future holds, even if the protagonist doesn’t understand. To which the mentor replies, “You will, someday”. That’s the equivalent of this scene. “Take care of the Princess AND Hyrule” *winks*. That’s the closest to “everyone can see it but you” that BOTW gets.
We also have Mipha feeling jealous of the growing bond between Link and Zelda.
Proving that link loves zelda and another point to the zelink shippers
Please tell me if you disagree or I got something wrong!
im a zelink shipper myself!! yeah! ""So link did not have to go to save hyrule which most people probably thought he was doing, hyrule does not need saving BUT princess Zelda does, so link went through all that trouble to save zelda, which is probably more then a appointed knight will do! Proving that link loves zelda and another point to the zelink shippers"" thumbs up!!
#ZeLink
I am a Zelink shipper *BUT* Ganons full power was about to unleash and he could destroy hyrule into ruin.... or even more ruins....
You guys have some goodpoints!!! I thought impa said Zelda needed help because she was dying, but now I think into it more if she did did then so would her sealing power!! At least there was enough points in the video to get zelink out on top!!
Is it bad to say that I think link and mipha are a no no
Bugger Nugget They're pretty much a canonical no no seeing as she's dead...
Shi Kuro yeah thanks !
Bugger Nugget well she's dead sooo....
Dragonsrock2017 so then we're lucky, huh?
Like a human & a fucking fish would be able to breed without making fucked up offspring.
In the Japanese version of this game, the quest journal actually doubles as Link’s diary.
One particular sentence he comments in it that stuck to my mind and made me think he does have have romantic feelings for her was when he says “I want to see her smile again” after he recovers all his memories
NBC: does link wants some of zeldas
Me: vigina
NBC: personality
Me: fuck😕
Linda Aguilar he wants to put his master sword in her sheath ;D
My Dad Calls Me Dirt Grub McAllister | MY EYES!!
BlueBird HAHA! You just got got punk
My Dad Calls Me Dirt Grub McAllister AHAHAHA....jokes...
My Dad Calls Me Dirt Grub McAllister It time to stop xD
0:13 I think the best pun here would be "If Zelda wants some of Link's Master Sword, does that mean Link wants some of Zelda's Sealing Power?"
“You can’t have a relationship with a dead fish” that is true
I wonder what's for dinner
Also I subscribed
TipsVloggingAndGaming thanks!
TipsVloggingAndGaming I'm so hungry I could eat an Octorok!
How about lynel heart?
I'm so hungry I'd eat zelda's ass .-.
So Zelink shippers win?
I a nutshell...mostly?
no Link dressing like a vai is best
Yes and No, we never see it and it is not stated but it could happen in their future.
By default mostly?
In the most empty sense of the word.
I ship Link x Zelda for life
Nicely done, surprised you aren't more popular.
-I ship this so hard dammit-
3:29 *”Become a Pokémon master”* lol cant stop laughing
Something to add to the video that should not be overlooked; I believe there is a dialogue from Impa after you get all your memories back where she states that "you and the princess were very close".
Good thing Link has Daruk's _Protection_ if ya know what I mean. (Insert Lenny face)
#RomanticCuzIShip
Virgin sheild LOL
Oh my lord lmfao
Gotta use protection when youre getting some personality.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
:/
Hopefully we'll get a ZeLink Story in BotW 2
"Looks like zelda wants links master sword"
Me: yeah. I mean the swords pretty cool
I have pictures of Link and Zelda I think they make a great couple.
One more piece of evidence: the endless trail of girls who are clearly interested in Link yet he isn't interested in them.
I like calling the ship Zlink, read like Slink.
I think it would be pretty cool if you had the choice to show affection to a certian character that many people seem to ship (personally, for me: Zelink) and based off of that decision could change the final ending of it. Just an idea, considering I'm still a bit new :/
I'm already happy that i've told the zora's king mipha and link are one now, makes me feel a little bit full inside
Zelink trash here as well, don’t worry 👌🏻
My canon, or the story i create in my game, is that link had romantic feelings for zelda, but after experiencing this new version of his world, meeting new people, everytime he recovered a new piece of memory, it felt like someone else's memories.
The link that had a hard time choosing zelda or mipha, died 100 years ago.
My link saved the princess and hyrule, out of respect of his past self, and his own soul. Because link began this journey without his memories, and accepted the task nonetheless.
tbh, i want link to be with paya because theres no missing plotholes and its like a fresh start
but still, lipha>zelink
Honestly I’m with you on that one . . . But I always thought he was gay (not in love w/ Zelda)
"You were just a reckless child..."
_Boi if we go to Zelda world we'll live 10x longer_
Zelink kind of sounds like someone with a really heavy russian exent trying to say the link
