My money's on Kass' teacher being the fortune teller. Why? Because how else could he have known all those songs in advance which he taught to Kass to help Link in the future?
I had someone else bring that up as well. It intrigued me because the songs are sung as "riddles" and fortunes within games/film tend to have that "rhyming/riddle" feel. Not much else though. Also one thing that may debunk that idea is this Quote from Kass: "He would *seek* the songs of the hero who sealed the Calamity away in an age past..."
@@NintendoBlackCrisis in my humble opinion, no because Kass states that his teacher cared very much for Zelda and felt horrible after seeing Link fall at fort Hateno, then went to find the stories and clues to find the shrines that help the hero. Specifically the unfinished songs about the DLC shrines. Forgive me if I'm mistaken but I dont see that as a possibility.
It definitely feels more likely than the Queen- not that I suppose it couldn't be her, but it would be bad writing on Nintendo's part given the diaries. I always assumed it was his teacher, but when people suggested it could've been a Yiga, I liked the idea of that, if only because it would have meant they actually did stuff.
@@sonicdog And that's why the profecies are confusing; the foretellers can just describe situations but not circumstances, so the ambiguity of the premonitions always give various results, all acceptables.
Possibly the woman in the blinding light from Zelda's dream is Fi. Zelda is unable to hear her in her dream, but when she awakens her powers, the Master Sword glows and Fi speaks to her through the sword to Zelda.
SageOfThunder this Zelda is also the strongest so far maybe Hylia got back a lot of her strength that is really the only reason why this Zelda(and the Zelda in Zelda2) could survive 100 years without food or water and doesn’t age at all.
zelda: grandmother heard them the voices from the spirit realm. there is a chance that the voices where warnings of the return of calamity Ganon so I'd say this theory is plausible
Half-baked thought I just had, but indulge me a moment (this is a long one, folks). First, I don't believe that "Queen Hyrule" was murdered. If she were, *someone* would've said/written it, instead of stating that she "died suddenly" and such. The King would've written it. Zelda would've stated it. Even one of the residents of Hyrule would've mentioned it. Typically, when someone is said to have died "suddenly and(/or) unexpectedly", it means they took ill and rapidly died from fever/etc. or died in an unexpected accident (like falling from a horse and snapping their neck). But then, I had another thought. A curse. While Zelda II states that, after the princess was cursed (not the curse I'm bringing up...Zelda loves curses), an order was given to name every female born into the Royal family "Zelda". This idea is far older story-wise as the first known Zelda (Skyward Sword) existed likely millennia before, and every major princess since was named "Zelda". It's arguable that either only a few Princesses were unlucky enough to be named Zelda just before the **it hits the fan, or (more likely) every female born in the Hyrule Royal family was named Zelda even before Zelda II. Why do I bring this up? To make a point before I make my theory. Demise. Demise cursed himself, Link and Zelda (Hylia reborn) to an endless cycle of reincarnation and war. While Link wasn't always descended from the previous Hero of "X" (see Wind Waker), Zelda IS. Just as every female born into the Royal family is named Zelda (likely since Skyward Sword - the beginning of the Kingdom of Hyrule), I theorize first that every female born into the Royal family IS Goddess Hylia reincarnated. It's not uncommon for a royal family to claim divinity (see Japan & ancient Egypt to name two), and Breath of the Wild goes to great lengths to state straight-up that Queen Zelda possessed significant power which she was soon to train her daughter in as she too had inherited this divine power, so the idea that each female Zelda is Goddess Hylia reborn is not a stretch of the imagination at all. What is also of interest is that I cannot recall a single time where it's mentioned that the "monster" population started to increase BEFORE Queen Hylia's death in BotW. The Queen died unexpectedly, and THEN the monster population/attack frequency began to increase. I think even Wind Waker hinted at this, too, that Ganon reappeared above the sea after Zelda's pirate retainers had taken over caring for her after the passing of her mother. Theory. My theory is clear: Every Zelda has the potential to activate her power of the Goddess reincarnated. Just as the name "Zelda" is passed from mother to daughter, Hylia's divine power is passed from mother-to-child - not just at birth, but also as they age and via training, until the previous Queen Zelda has little-to-no power of Hylia left behind and the divine power is fully given to the Princess Zelda, who then passes this power on gradually to her own daughter, etc. When the curse kicks-in and it becomes clear that the cycle of war between the reincarnations of Demise's hatred, the Goddess Hylia, and the Hero is soon to begin again (or, when a seal holding back Ganon/Demise's wrath & power begins to weaken), whatever power of Hylia possessed by the mother (Queen Zelda) is immediately taken-in by the daughter (Princess Zelda) as per the demands of Demise's curse. The shock of losing the divine power of an actual Goddess all at once would likely kill the all-too-mortal queen "suddenly and unexpectedly", leaving Zelda with the full power of the Goddess Hylia but little knowledge on how to utilize it beyond instinct and genetic/spiritual memory. "Signs Point to Yes"? In no game has Zelda ever had a living mother. Again, BotW making certain to hammer into our heads that Zelda's mom possessed divine power herself before her sudden death. In EVERY game the Queen died sometime shortly after Zelda's birth, and Princess Zelda is the only one around capable of using Hylia's divine power. Conclusive proof? Not by a long shot. But given everything else I've pointed out, it seems far more likely than not.
Yeah its pretty good. While watching this video,it made me think of the power and mother to daughter relationship. Either this kingdom is a matriarchal monarchy, and every Queen will have a daughter. Or all/if not most of the kings are related to the Queen on the maternal side. Like with Carlos the 2nd of Spain. So the passing down of the Goddess power would not be interpreted. I can't really recall, but wasn't the Links all descendants of Knights? So the Tri force of courage is graced to a Link, like a mantle of sorts?
@Sebastian Cheng If you think that's long, you should see the video comment/reply I made in another video detailing my thoughts about "corpse Ganondorf"!
Here after the recent trailer for AoC to figure out who this fortune teller is, also the assumption that he's a Yiga clan member seems spot on seeing how he is only seen with the Yiga clan
After seeing the BOTW 2 trailer the "deep in the ground" part of the prophecy is interesting. What if they were looking in the wrong place? And the mummified ganondorf is the real way of stopping the calamity?
SteviiLove the yiga clan could have known... what if they found some sort of hidden shrine of resurrection, and hid Ganon in there? Maybe it was a shrine of resurrection that was made by the zonai, but they discarded it (explaining the green hand?) and they put Ganon’s body in it, this is like a strange parallel to link.
I have a theory maybe link is not the hero as we know some RUclipsrs have pointed out the the hero’s red hair we thought that was because of the barbarian armour if we look at the botw 2 the person sealed has long red hair like the hero in the tapestry and maybe when the prophecy said the power to opose it lies dormant beneath the ground they meant like a cave and the malice might be because of one reason the hero is ganon and link
I keep thinking about the BOTW2 trailer.. what if the prediction about the way to combat calamity Ganon was dormant beneath the ground was actually referring to his body being sealed beneath the castle?
It is possible that the fortune teller was correct, just not in the way everyone (including the fortune teller) expected. The fortune teller states that the power to defeat Ganon lies dormant underground. Everyone assumes this means the divine beasts. In actuality, this allows for the prophecy to come true. Link is the power that lies dormant underground that is able to defeat Ganon. But he only goes underground because of the King trying to fulfill the prophecy. It reminds me of all the Greek prophecies where people try to change the future but all they do is make the terrible future come true. Anyway, those are my two cents on another possible theory. I guess we will never know the truth.
Yeah you’re right also fortune tellers of all sorts never truly KNOW what the fortune is, they’re only able to vaguely piece things together, or come up with riddles or see symbolic images. So yeah the prophecy really is up for speculation
Or...the fortune teller suspected the return of Calamity Ganon, did their own research and found the legends about the Guardians, then tacked on that bit as a solution within the prophesy despite it not being part of the original vision. And had the King not pulled Zelda from her research or forcefully tried to “cultivate” her (with a heavy dose of outright emotional abuse despite her working herself to exhaustion trying to do it his way! Holy CRAP!) Zelda might’ve found the Guardians’ and Beasts’ weakness and found a way to counteract it (or developed another strategy to keep them away from the Malice. The Beasts kinda didn’t need to be at the Castle to help take on CG.) I refuse to blame proactivity for the destruction when *finally* the other characters weren’t hohum about resigning to their fate idly, but chose to actively resist. That’s a GOOD thing (and about damn time). Nope. I’m gonna place the blame on His Moronic Majesty insisting on “the old ways” to the detriment of not only his daughter (she would’ve actually unlocked those powers sooner had she been allowed to pursue what she could and gained confidence that she COULD protect with unorthodox means (her powers did NOT unlock from the Springs, but her desperation to Protect others herself even if she died doing so)) And, you know. Her finding the flaw in the Guardians.
Well the fact that they used "The fortune teller" in their diaries could just be them protecting the queen's identity. And Zelda may not have known who the fortune teller was.
I think the story teller was somebody that they only partially trusted. In the opening of the video, it doesn’t say that they immediately took initiative and began excavating apon the telling of the prophecy, it instead says that they “decided” to heed the prophecy, hinting that there may have been some hesitation as to whether or not they should take up the callings in the prophecy.
That makes more sense. It could of been like the Aganihm situation again(except this time it isn’t Ganon). The person could of told the prophecy and the signs started to be undeniable.
Alrighty, I'm down with this. Although I think the fortune teller being a Yiga Clan member makes more sense, I like the Queen being more active in the story, and having, a) an actual relationship with Zelda and the King, and b) additional motive for the Yiga to murder the Queen Man, I love Breath of the Wild
I think it makes a lot of sense for the King to refer to his wife as "the fortune teller" in his journals because he probably knew that if anyone found out she had that power, she'd be in danger.
But he writes it in his own diary, I mean it makes some kind of sense, who would dare to read the Kings diary without permission? So I guess if the fortune teller was really the queen, the king would have brought up in her diary, but I think Nintendo just intends to put a fortune teller but didn't expect us to theorise it.
@@ngxinyue9902 There is no particular reason anyone should expect him to write about it in a diary. I think it actually would be fairly illogical to do so. I know if _I_ was the King of Hyrule, I would not write in the diary, because that would be too risky. What if the diary had been stolen? Sure, it is very unlikely this would happen, but it does not mean it was impossible. The risk would not be worth it.
What if every race had an element? Rito:air Zora:water Gerudo:lightning Gorons:fire Koroks:grass Hylians:time Does it make sense? Time crystals, links hidden ability, foresight? All related to *time* . Oh, and did I mention, orcarina of *time* . And sheikas are hylians too. They are a tribe. Hero of *time* . *TIME TIME TIME TIME*
i think gorons are Earth in the sense of Rock and Magma (being fire a sub product) The time crystals weren't excavated by the sheikah? or another civilization prior to hylia taking the people to the skies Gerudos are just a female tribe that lives in the desert... until Breath of the Wild they've never been asociated with any element.
Well, ya. but! Im talking about current botw. Sure i think earth for gorons makes sense, but what if, because botw is so far down the timeline , the time between the other games , when the sheikah technology was invented, each race was given an element acording to the divine beast. When you go to all of the areas wear each race lives, they are themed in monsters , dungeons and, the champions. The gerudo are diferent from how they use to be.plu, hylia are humans, its just a name. Sheikah are hylian, they are a tribe, yes more skilled, but still the same race.
I think that the ancient sheikah from 10k years ago are descendants from the barbarian tribe in the faron region. Basically the bananas grow in faron, and we see that the Yiga and Maz Koshia are all obsessed with the bananas. kinda weak but whatever. I think that they were thriving in the faron region but once they started making metal weapons, they had to flee from farosh and all the lightning there. They fled up north into necluda, where they were going to live their lives like they used to in faron, but being so close to the hylians meant that they were banished of their old ways and made to live with the technology. Some of the sheikah weren't happy about that though, and formed the yiga clan. The yiga clan was a group that wanted to kill all the hylians, so the sheikah could live in peace again. Soon after they split from the sheikah, the first calamity struck. they saw how devestating it could have been, but it was stopped by the hylian champion. After that they devoted their entire lives to killing the hero, since they didn't know he would be reborn. after 10,000 years of failed assassinations, they had to make a new plan. They thought that the guardians and the divine beasts built 10,000 years ago in the aide of the champions could help them. They thought that if they assassinate the princess so she couldn't stall the calamity, ganon would take control of the mechanical creatures. There was a fortune teller in disguise of a hylian telling everyone to dig up the machines, tricking everyone into their plan. after the failed assassinations of the princess because of the hero, they thought of a plan to ressurect ganon after he was defeated, using the thunder helm from the gerudo. Before they could steal it though, the calamity struck again. They knew it was too late. They watched Vah Naboris charging up its lazer. but before it could fire, the malice took over. they saw the blue turn into red, and everything seemed to click. Looking north, they saw the big bird covered in malice. they saw 5 red pillars rise out of hyrule castle and red beams everywhere. They knew now that their goal was complete. for 100 years they were at rest. No one bothered with them, and they didn't bother with anyone in their disguises. Until they heard that the hero was back. They made it their goal to kill the hero again, and sent out troops to kill him. Nobody did though. They took the thunder helm in order to ressurect ganon if the hero comes back. The leader of the group, Master Kohga, was killed by the hero and he took the thunder helm. With no leader, the clan spun out of control. people leaving, people killing each other, just a total mess. Only a few stayed, who I think would now be under the rule of the yiga that was blackmailing Dorian. This is how I think the next game is going to start. Inbetween the events of botw and this next game the new yiga steal the thunder helm again. This new leader takes off his mask and he reveals to be vaati (not really but it would be really cool) and they ressurect ganon with malice and the thunder helm. sorry for hella long comment
@@BlueDragonknight375 yeah but theres nothing saying that the sheikah in botw are the same sheikah in the other games. look at maz koshia then look at a sheikah from twilight princess. big difference
That could be! Some people have theorized that Ganon is the spirit of evil, reincarnated BUT instead of the Gerudo form he usually has, this time he has strayed too far away from anything mortal. Also, since by now the sequel trailer has come out, we know Ganondorf is sealed away down somewhere. What if Ganondorf was sealed there for thousands upon thousands of years? His spirit may have *left his body* instead of staying there, locked up for such a long time. Said spirit formed Calamity Ganon. Because of this, he isn't at his full strength. So, if he's not at his full power, Link doesn't need to use the Master Sword. In itself, the sword is only a tool, while Zelda's power is the only thing absolutely necessary to seal him away.
I would love a theory about where the Divine Beasts where dug up. Maybe it already exsists, I haven't really looked. But it totally looks like Naboris is found on the cliffs north of the Gerudo Highlands (judging by the cutscene). And yeah, we can assume they where all buried there but what if they weren't. What if Medo was found deep in the Hebra region or and Rudania in the Eldin region. Basically, I'm just nosey and want to know where they where all found. They clearly didn't come from beneath the castle like the Guardians. I'm going to start looking for man made digging sites in the game now lol
These theory vids are so great. You tell a very compelling argument. It's crazy to see how much lore really is in this game if you're willing to dig around a look between the lines. Definitely my favorite game. Keep up the great vids.
The Yiga cannot conspire with Ganon. They conspire with the Gerudo people responsible for literally creating Ganon through magic in order to ressurect Demise. Specifically, Koume and Kotake; known enemies of the Kingdom of Hyrule, often bosses in the Zelda series, and always the same ancients witches (never reincarnated) and travel through dimensions and worlds with ease. LoZ series finale will be defeating Triprova once they get their Thunder counterpart (Ganondorf) and the the triforce.
@@hakkboi1987 Honestly, im not sure. Usually i would say i wait till I like the game or not but I already know that playing Breath of the Wild will result in me loving it anyway but I already bought Smash Bros anf all of its DLC as well, so it depends on my budget
9:40 waiiiiit, what if the Fortune Teller was Zelda, this "strange dream" of her's was never dated, and based on the journal entry that talks about a dream it doesn't sound like she brought it up to others at that time. So perhaps a frightened child Zelda who had a bad dream and nobody would listen to her worries. All except her mother that is, and her mother used her powers which she had a far stronger grasp on to look into this potential premonition. Afterwards her mother went to the King to tell him about the premonition that one of their subjects had and that she too could sense something was coming.
What if the fortune teller was the breath of the wild parallel of Astor? He’s some sort of seer with no backstory and supposedly a Hylian / Sheikah. Then the timeline split happens and in the age of calamity timeline he turns evil and works with the Yiga clan, while in the breath of the wild timeline something unknown happens, it could be that he just suddenly died for any reason, or he was banished from the kingdom because of his odd power. Another idea is that when the cutscene said the only way to oppose ganon was underground, that could possibly mean the queen as she was the only one to have her power awoken at that time, and she died so she could’ve been buried? Not as good as my other theory but it still sort of makes sense.
I think it could be that queen had a vision before she died and told her husband. Later, this yiga clan secret agent came to Rhoam as a fortune teller predicting the same thing. These two sources bolstered the king's belief in the prophecy
One thing I still think about is a book in the Library in Hyrule Castle, its the recipe for the Monster Cake or whatever it is called. It says it was the favorite food of the Kings consultant and you should be careful because eating it could lead to making bad plans
Taking with the idea of no one believing in a failure of a princess, it is possible that maybe Zelda could have told an advisor, or close friend, her fears, and that hylian took it seriously enough to actually give enough reason to make Rhoam act in the way he did... or you know- a random Wind Fish could have inspired the would-be prophet
Very interesting ideas, really enjoyed the video and thought the intro was fantastic! Would happily listen to the voice overs only with dramatic music.
Because of the botw 2 trailer, that quote “the only way to defeat calamity beneath the ground” definitely is referring to ganondorf beneath Hyrule castle, I have no doubt about that
You sure did a lot of deep digging for this. I don't see why it couldn't be possible. This is what I like about Botw, there's so many questions that get you thinking about stuff like this. Another great theory by the way, keep up the great work!
King: "Why should I take you seriously about Ganon's return, fortune teller?" FT: "Have you READ a history book? He comes back more often than the bad guy in Castlevania." King "... Let's start digging..."
I feel like the fortune teller wasn't talking about the divine beast, but the dead Ganon and Malice under their feet. There's a high chance hyrule forgot about the sealing. The fortune teller possibly didn't know exactly what because possibly the malice was blocking most of the fortune teller power didn't work.
That or the king made a really bad judgement call and or knew about Ganon and didn’t want to tell anyone. If anything I think the King killed the queen, she wanted to tell Zelda but never got the chance because the king didn’t want anyone knowing (unless those who knew) what they were doing to Ganon. I also had a theory that it was Midna holding down calamity Ganon from the twilight realm but that’s very loose!
The sheikah text on the tapestry says that the royal family feared their technology and banished it. We all assume it was a case of hurr durr technology bad but what if 10,000 years ago the royal family banished it because they KNEW ganon could corrupt it. If they knew that what happened 100 years ago was a possibility, I'd be scared of that technology too. I'm halfway thru this video so this may be mentioned later idk I'm too impatient to wait and see.
Maybe this is stupid but I've often thought the words "the power to oppose it lies dormant beneath the ground" might actually be referencing Link in the shrine of resurrection. Prophecies in media are not always linear and are often self-fulfilling. The fortune teller may have foreseen that the one thing capable of opposing Ganon would "lie dormant in the ground" and assumed that it was currently in the ground when they had the vision. The kingdom assumed that referred to the sheikah tech, dug it up and that ultimately led to Ganon seizing control of it, leading to Link being injured and placed in the shrine of resurrection where he would sleep (lay dormant) for 100 years before awakening and going on to defeat Ganon. So the power to defeat the Calamity really WOULD be something that had been dormant in the ground, however it just wasn't at the time of the prophecy.
What if the fortune teller wasn't talking about the divine beasts and guardians but was actually talking about Link when he was in the Shrine of Resurrection? Think about it. He was dormant beneath the ground and he was needed to seal the darkness. I guess you could say this logic also applied to the Master Sword, but as NintendoBlackCrises said, the Master Sword isn't needed to complete the game and beat Ganon. Like if you agree!
Admin 2000, yes I think your theory could be a possibility. The dormant power being Link makes much more sense than the master sword, because although its the hero's chosen weapon, it doesn't hold any specific and special power. Link was the power. Without him, Hyrule would not have been saved, so your theory really make sense
So I am playing through BOTW again for the first time in a couple years. I have watched tons of theory videos on it... (all of yours and a number of others). In any case, this go through I decided to follow the game a little more linear than in my past play throughs. And because of it I now realize the path to Kakariko has a lot of teaching shrines like the great plateau. They are more about getting used to the game mechanics etc, and it is pretty cool how helpful they are if you have never played the game before... So I just got to the Kakariko shrine and realized it was the first test of strength shrine. I thought that was pretty cool and a good way to introduce some new fighting mechanics... But what I hadn't realized was the monks words at the trial completion. "Your triumph over the the test of strength subverts a prophecy of ruin. From the ashes of hyrule, a hero rises." And... wait a minute... the prophecy is mentioned here? And yes, Hyrule is in ashes... but the monk shouldn't know that... And it got me thinking based on the placement... the fall of the hero was predicted, and the "test of strength" mentioned here isn't talking about the shrine (which is exceptionally easy) but the test of strength that the hero survives resurrection. Meaning the shieka prophecised the events in botw and set up the shrines (including the Shrine of Res) to fix it. But the question is, is this part of the fortune tellers prophecy as well? or are there two prophecies?
You know what else is buried in the ground? Ganondorf. Thanks for making me realize, I wanted to start my other channel's non academic content with Zelda. I hope you can watch it when it's done, my channel is 8bits artist M3. 💪😎🎵🎶 Thanks man, watching your video again really helped me!
i just realized that when zelda makes the journal entry you mentioned in one point of the video about her having a dream, it sounds a lot like the beginning of botw, when link woke up. Zelda writes in her journal that she was "in a place consumed by darkness" with "a lone woman" who was gazing at her, "haloed by a blinding light". This is really similar to the cutscene that plays when link wakes up. The screen is dark with the only source of light being the shining ball of light in the center. She also writes, "Her lips spoke urgently", which could relate to how zelda spoke to link in the cutscene, with her words being urgent pleads for link to wake up, to open his eyes. This dream that zelda had could have been a weakened form of her premonition powers since at this time her power had not yet awoken. Also, i wonder if link spoke to link every day, trying to get him to wake up, or if she somehow knew exactly when link was gonna wake up and talked to him then.
Not sure if this was mentioned, but sometimes you can find Yiga in disguise that give Link's fortune, then try to kill him. Of course these fortunes are false(most of the time), but it's something to consider
Age of Calamity Spoilers: Turns out this theory is probably mostly true. There's a new character known as the prophet of doom. He's worships Calamity Ganon, but he is separate from the Yiga Clan and uses them as tools instead.
The only problem with the theory that the fortune teller was a Yiga that I can find is that, to my understanding, the yiga have only existed SINCE the great calamity only 100 years ago. I seem to remember the guards outside Impa's house saying something to the effect of the shieka broke apart after the calamity into two tribes and that the good shieka wanted to forsake the technology that allowed Calamity Ganon turned against them choosing simpler more quiet lives in kakariko village. The bad shieka or more appropriately he yiga didn't want to be hunted down and didn't want to forsake the tech and so swore allegiance to ganon. Correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought that was what the guard said, you know the one who is obsessed with the cuco chicken things or whatever.
Personally, i think the fortune teller was actually Gannons human form, thematically it just makes the most sense to me. It wouldnt be the first time Gannon had wormed his way into the royal court: Agahnim, Gannondorf, even Zant in TP bears Gannons hallmark of pulling the strings of powerful people to atain ressurection, and this lends itself to the cyclical nature of thier eternal conflict. It also would have allowed him time to prepare his plan of absolute anihilation using the Guardians that had once thwarted him, something Im sure he would have been thinking about a lot since he was last defeated, and answers the ever burning question of just how did gannon assume control of the guardians? I mean, he makes it seem so simple when he appears and immediately turns the guardians against hyrule, but if it were actually that easy they would never have defeated him in the first place. He could have just popped up and fought as normal with only Zelda and Link really standing in his way. But why do that when you can have them dig up the very weapons that last defeated you, and utterly destroy them with what they believed to be thier only hope? He would have been researching along side them or at the very least have access to thier research, and every step they made towards controlling the guardians would build thier hope up while actually leading them to thier demise as he too learned how to exploit them. This plan not only explains how he turned the guardians this time, but truely matches the vindictive malice that literally manifists across Hyrule after his ressurection. This also goes in hand with the Yiga prophet theory since the Yiga are said to be working WITH Gannon towards his resurrection, even if they also did not realise that the prophet/spy was actually his weaker form made flesh he would still be invaluable to them, especially in keeping them informed of Zeldas wherabouts.
So I have a theory, what is the fortune teller is just a normal fortune telling guy (sorry if I didn't word that right, but you know what i mean) And gave them their warning, and blah blah blah... But have you every heard of the butterfly effect? Well it's when one small things causes a huge chain of bigger and more important events. And lets play along with the theory that If you change one small thing form the past, you could change the future entirely, hence the butterfly effect. SO maybe the fortune teller saw that the champions were going to die, and couldn't warn them about the blights in the Divine Beasts because it would set off a chain reaction. For instance, maybe if he did warn them, the champions survived, but Zelda or Link died, and Hyrule fell. Or maybe the champions survived, but zelda never awoken her sealing power, because the diving beasts weakened gannon, and stopped Link from getting hit with the blast from the guardian. idk, just something I thought of! I hope you see this!!!
Another theory could be that the fortune teller was the Great Deku Tree. It's implied that the royal family had ties with the Koroks and the Deku Tree in the lore and the Deku tree is old and wise enough to see the warning signs. Not to mention, in the memory, the Deku tree didn't seem surprised of Zeldas plan nor concerned that she will be going alone to Hyrule Castle even when she is needed to fight the calamity with the chosen hero. Also interesting to note regarding the prophecy, it states that the power to seal Calamity Ganon away is sealed deep underground, this could indicate Ganondorfs corpse as is shown in the BOTW 2 sequel, but it's unlikely as Nintendo didn't really know if this game was going to be successful enough for a sequel. But what's interesting is that the Shrines are deep underground and help the hero in his quest, and one just so happens to be buried right next to the Deku Tree.
What if it was the Queen but she feared the King, like his predecessors (see Ocarina of Time and Zelda’s dream), would not listen. So she told her prophesy to a Sheikah and had them posse as a fortune teller so the King would listen. This theory could still work with the others in the video it’s just an explanation of why the Queen and the fortune teller are spoken of as separate people in the game but with the possibility of them being one and the same.
It is so simple, Zelda was the fortune teller and a member of the Yiga clan. She killed the only one who could foresee her plan, her mother, and she sabotaged the plans to fight Ganon. Zelda put her personal knight, Link, in harms ways at every opportunity she had. In a final effort after finally exhausting Link, she had him stripped and locked up for 100 years and hide the master sword from him. She then returned to Hyrule castle to help resurrect Ganon.
Needless to say It was Astor from AoC it's obvious I mean, he named the Possessed Terrako Harbinger Ganon, and a harbinger is exactly what a fortune teller is. Too bad age of calamity didn't exist publicly 2 or so years ago...
What if the Queen of Hyrule predicted her own death, but couldn’t tell anyone. Or, what if the thing buried in the ground weren’t the Divine Beasts, but the fortune teller predicting the Queen’s death and burial, and in Zelda’s moment of need, the soul of the Queen, buried underground, gave her power to Zelda
the queen could have been assassinated by the yiga like you said because maybe she was an undercover spy for them and then she turned on them and then they found out that her powers were eventually going to pass down to zelda so as punishment they killed her.
Thanks for the theory vid! I love your content because it always gets me thinking about this truely awesone game! Have some happy holidays and I cant wait to see what you'll get me thinking about next time :D
I find it more likely that, like you stated in another theory, the power that lies dormant beneath the ground actually refers to Ganondorf buried beneath the castle. And in order to divert the attention away from him, the Yiga used the possible Sheika-costumed spy to plant the idea in the mind of the royal family that it is actually the guardians and sacred beasts who are the power that lie dormant beneath the ground, not Ganondorf himself. It'd make a lot of sense. If the royal family began to assume that they would have to get rid of Ganondorf's body, and the presumed power source of ancient energy, then they Yiga clan's plans would've been completely fooled. They would have to come up with a countermeasure to prevent that. So although the intentions of the fortune themselves were pure, the words were twisted in a way that eventually still caused the second coming of Calamity Ganon.
In OOT, Zelda had a dream as well. It had dark clouds in it which she felt were a representation of Ganon. In the cut scene of OOT when she is talking to Link about her dream, she said she thought Ganon was evil, and when she tried to explain her dream to her Father, he disregarded her dream to be just a dream, not a prophecy, which was a grave mistake on his part. Zelda also mentions that the temple of time is the gateway to the Sacred Relm (which is where Ganon eventually is banished to), which can only be accessed through the Sacred Door (the master sword), which can only be revealed by playing the Ocarina... So if your theory on BOTW2 being placed in the past, and Zelda and Link in fact travel to the past, how do you supposed they did it? With the Ocarina? And if so, where was it in the 1st game? Forgotten about due to all the chaos and catastrophic events that took place, and possibly lays somewhere hidden in the rubble of the castle?
I think the theory makes so much sense! Zelda’s mother being the fortune teller does make her sudden death make much more sense. You are very smart and I wish I could make theories like you!
It's been a while since I've played aLttP, but I would guess the fortune teller much more akin to Agahnim from aLttP. If I remember correctly, Agahnim was this strange magic user who ingratiated himself with the royal family (like Gannondorf did in OoT) while he carried out his plans to resurrect his alter ego Ganon. Agahnim was likely something of a fortune teller, seeing as how he dresses similar to the updated sprites from aLBW. And both games have fortune tellers as NPCs. And there are the parallels of Agahnim wearing a sheikah-like crest (also displayed on the floor when he sends Zelda to the dark world). The parallels between Agahnim who came into the royal family's trust, then took over/possessed the soldiers of Hyrule castle are similar to how the guardians were possessed. And defeating them did nothing to defeat the actual dark king. Though in this instance you fight the beast first and not the man. It opens up the possibility of there being a dark world version of Hyrule if they run that parallel. Which would be fantastic.
The fortune teller is Astor, isn't it? He's the one obsessed with fate and Ganon coming back, so yeah it's him, I think. Edit: Astor from Age of Calamity, that is.
What if “lies dormant beneath the ground” has a dual meaning- and is also in reference to the BOTW Zelda and Link not being alive yet? As in their bodies/spirits are buried and have not resurrected yet? It’s a stretch but that popped into my brain.
I personally think it was Zelda's grandmother, because in the memory in the spring she says: "Grandmother heard them... the voices of the spirit realm..." Idk if her grandmother is still alive. It wouldn't be likely, considering that she couldv'e taught Zelda how to use sealing power. But perhaps her advanced age may have been an obstacle to teach her grandaughter anything. It's a pretty unlikely theory but it sorta makes sense...
When the fortune teller talks about the only thing to defeat Ganon was dormant beneath the ground. I always thought they were talking about Link being asleep for 100 years. It makes sense that a fortune teller would know that Link would have to be put in the Shrine of Resurrection. And it didn't make sense to me that the fortune teller would be talking about the Devine Beasts since you can beat Ganon without them.
Very interesting theory Will. I love the alternate theory of the Yiga assassinating the Queen, I'm on board with that theory. I loved the editing on this video, great usage of music especially!
Hey Chris i have a question on the fold the fourth minute and seventeen seconds on the Picture the Guardians actually red taht can't be in this time because they aren't under the control of ganon at there
My money's on Kass' teacher being the fortune teller. Why? Because how else could he have known all those songs in advance which he taught to Kass to help Link in the future?
I had someone else bring that up as well. It intrigued me because the songs are sung as "riddles" and fortunes within games/film tend to have that "rhyming/riddle" feel. Not much else though. Also one thing that may debunk that idea is this Quote from Kass:
"He would *seek* the songs of the hero who sealed the Calamity away in an age past..."
@@NintendoBlackCrisis b
Oh my god.
„The power to seal the calamity lays dormant beneath the ground“ could this be the hand seal from botw 2?
This has to be it
You forgot that the shrines, guardians, and divine beasts had to be excavated them from the ground
@@sonicdog it could've been referring to both.
@@sonicdog And that's why the profecies are confusing; the foretellers can just describe situations but not circumstances, so the ambiguity of the premonitions always give various results, all acceptables.
At the beginning of the game, Link was dormant beneath the ground. Coincidence? I think not.
Possibly the woman in the blinding light from Zelda's dream is Fi. Zelda is unable to hear her in her dream, but when she awakens her powers, the Master Sword glows and Fi speaks to her through the sword to Zelda.
SageOfThunder OMG your right!
SageOfThunder this Zelda is also the strongest so far maybe Hylia got back a lot of her strength that is really the only reason why this Zelda(and the Zelda in Zelda2) could survive 100 years without food or water and doesn’t age at all.
@@GODOFAWSOMENESS1 That has nothing to do with strength. It's more likely she was in a _frozen-time_ scenario
Link she was sustaining it though not an easy task since Ganon was fighting against her magic the whole time.
@@LoinkLoink She would still need food and water though, so maybe it's just her age that is in the frozen-time scenario you are talking about?
zelda: grandmother heard them the voices from the spirit realm.
there is a chance that the voices where warnings of the return of calamity Ganon so I'd say this theory is plausible
lol hey NBC!
This is actually a really good theory! I love it!
Pretty good but you forgot to mention that when the power is leaving the queen so is the spirit of the goddess
We, my friend, had the same thoughts. There may actually be some legitimacy to this theory after all
Same
After seeing the BOTW 2 trailer the "deep in the ground" part of the prophecy is interesting. What if they were looking in the wrong place? And the mummified ganondorf is the real way of stopping the calamity?
My thoughts exactly but who could've known beforehand?
Or the hand was the key to stopping the calamity
SteviiLove the yiga clan could have known... what if they found some sort of hidden shrine of resurrection, and hid Ganon in there? Maybe it was a shrine of resurrection that was made by the zonai, but they discarded it (explaining the green hand?) and they put Ganon’s body in it, this is like a strange parallel to link.
Yes I have a theory about that
I have a theory maybe link is not the hero as we know some RUclipsrs have pointed out the the hero’s red hair we thought that was because of the barbarian armour if we look at the botw 2 the person sealed has long red hair like the hero in the tapestry and maybe when the prophecy said the power to opose it lies dormant beneath the ground they meant like a cave and the malice might be because of one reason the hero is ganon and link
*does surprised pikachu the whole video*
😯
Lol
@@gabi-mm1rz 😯
Same.
:0
I keep thinking about the BOTW2 trailer.. what if the prediction about the way to combat calamity Ganon was dormant beneath the ground was actually referring to his body being sealed beneath the castle?
" *pikachu surprised face* "
YES YES YES YEA
I was thinking this as well.
Or with botw 2 we know that ganondorf is underground.
Watch the new theory.
The Beasts kinda didn’t need to be at the Castle to help take on CG.)
I refuse to blame proactivity for the destruction when *finally* the other characters weren’t hohum about resigning to their fate idly, but chose to actively resist. That’s a GOOD thing (and about damn time).
Nope.
I’m gonna place the blame on His Moronic Majesty insisting on “the old ways” to the detriment of not only his daughter (she would’ve actually unlocked those powers sooner had she been allowed to pursue what she could and gained confidence that she COULD protect with unorthodox means (her powers did NOT unlock from the Springs, but her desperation to Protect others herself even if she died doing so))
And, you know.
Now look at age of calamity! Astor is a fortune teller and is supporting ganon but has also turned on the yiga! Perfect idea.
Alrighty, I'm down with this. Although I think the fortune teller being a Yiga Clan member makes more sense, I like the Queen being more active in the story, and having, a) an actual relationship with Zelda and the King, and b) additional motive for the Yiga to murder the Queen
Man, I love Breath of the Wild
Yeah, the yiga theory helps strengthen the story while the Queen theory helps make her character actually have importance in the game :)
I think it makes a lot of sense for the King to refer to his wife as "the fortune teller" in his journals because he probably knew that if anyone found out she had that power, she'd be in danger.
Yeah, I thought about that as well. Though I didn't want to bring it up unless I had some proof. Thanks for watching!
@@NintendoBlackCrisis I totally get that! :) I seriously love your theories, and that you back them up with evidence! :D
Could be astor from age of calamity tho
Judging by this new Age of Calamity trailer today, your fortune teller theory didn't seem to off. Except it looks like they were a Gerudo.
(sees Calamity Ganon erupt from Hyrule Castle)
"I have a bad feeling something is about to happen."
nice one nbc. I completely agree with this theory and it makes a lot of sense.
What if every race had an element?
Rito:air
Zora:water
Gerudo:lightning
Gorons:fire
Koroks:grass
Hylians:time
Does it make sense? Time crystals, links hidden ability, foresight? All related to *time* .
Oh, and did I mention, orcarina of *time* . And sheikas are hylians too. They are a tribe. Hero of *time* . *TIME TIME TIME TIME*
would sheikahs not be dark
i think gorons are Earth in the sense of Rock and Magma (being fire a sub product)
The time crystals weren't excavated by the sheikah? or another civilization prior to hylia taking the people to the skies
Gerudos are just a female tribe that lives in the desert... until Breath of the Wild they've never been asociated with any element.
Well, ya. Sheikah are hylian, they are a tribe, yes more skilled, but still the same race.
leafgreen 25 Link=shulk?
Actually, the Shiekah are their own race. They just look similar

The Shiekah have been around since Skyward Sword.

I love these theories! So well thought up and they actually make sense!! Great work, NBC!
ThePlatGamer, it’s very nice. The very thing that defeats Ganon lmao 🤣
Im pretty sure that the reason why you don’t need the master sword to kill/defeat ganon is because ganon is not fully developed. Just an idea
Featus Ganon?
Great idea!

New theory. Going to be great can't wait to watch!💯👍
These are so creative and so nicely put together! Nice job!

Afterwards her mother went to the King to tell him about the premonition that one of their subjects had and that she too could sense something was coming.
that makes a lot of sense
There’s a yiga foot soldier who pretends to be a fortune teller
Could the mysteries character in the new age of calamity trailer be the fortune teller.
I agree 100%
I truly think so. The BOTW plot thickens
Great to hear! I'll try to do it again sometime :)
Because of the botw 2 trailer, that quote “the only way to defeat calamity beneath the ground” definitely is referring to ganondorf beneath Hyrule castle, I have no doubt about that
I love your theories NBC!!!!
You sure did a lot of deep digging for this. I don't see why it couldn't be possible. This is what I like about Botw, there's so many questions that get you thinking about stuff like this. Another great theory by the way, keep up the great work!
Thanks!
King: "Why should I take you seriously about Ganon's return, fortune teller?"
FT: "Have you READ a history book? He comes back more often than the bad guy in Castlevania."
King "...
Looks like we may find out in Age of Calamity
DUDE OMG I ACTUALLY LOVE THESE VIDS THIS IS MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT AFTER ALL! MERRY CHRISTMAS NBC!!!
What if Zelda hired someone to tell her father about her dream and make it seem like a fortune teller premonition?
The author of that prophecy could very well have been that criminal sorceress Actor, dark shadow of Yiga.
Ya, that makes sense
Oooooooooo new theories
Admin 2000, yes I think your theory could be a possibility. The dormant power being Link makes much more sense than the master sword, because although its the hero's chosen weapon, it doesn't hold any specific and special power. Link was the power. Without him, Hyrule would not have been saved, so your theory really make sense
This aged well.
From the ashes of hyrule, a hero rises."
And... wait a minute... the prophecy is mentioned here? And yes, Hyrule is in ashes... but the monk shouldn't know that... And it got me thinking based on the placement... the fall of the hero was predicted, and the "test of strength" mentioned here isn't talking about the shrine (which is exceptionally easy) but the test of strength that the hero survives resurrection. Meaning the shieka prophecised the events in botw and set up the shrines (including the Shrine of Res) to fix it. But the question is, is this part of the fortune tellers prophecy as well? or are there two prophecies?
Hmmm...
yeah, I hadn't nothing better to comment
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......
yeah, I hadn't nothing better to reply
This man legit just predicted Astor...a Yiga fortune teller...
The truth is almost all in age of calamity now! I'm happy they gave some more lore
Fi: *jingle noise*
Zelda: so he... He can still be saved?
*What fi really said*
Fi: put that Twink in that magic pressure cooker!
You are my favorite Zelda RUclipsr
0:55 I just got back from your Hero Lives and Everyone Else Dies video
Yo that new hooded dude in the recent AoC trailer might be the Fortune Teller
Yeah that's why I'm here
You know what else is buried in the ground?
HAVENT EVEN WATCHED TEN SECONDS AND IT ALREADY LOOKS SO GOOD
9:36 is it strange that the name of that memory is called, "a premonition"?
Age of Calamity Spoilers:
Turns out this theory is probably mostly true.
The last trailer of Age of Calamity shows this could be true :O
I think by “the power to oppose it lies dormant in the ground” it actually means the shrine of resurrection.
also, maybe the "fortune teller" is really the twinrova? with the facts that twinrova raised ganon.
Heh, demise. Get it? Because Gannon is demise?
13:35 doesn’t Zelda’s description remind you of when Fi appeared in Link’s dream in Skyward Sword?
Now that the sequel reveal trailer is out, I have a different feel on the fact that the way to defeat the coming calamity Gabon is beneath the ground.
9:05 so you're basically saying they, "Have a bad feeling about this"
I find it more likely that, like you stated in another theory, the power that lies dormant beneath the ground actually refers to Ganondorf buried beneath the castle.
I’m here after seeing the new trailer of the era of cataclysm, will be the new mystery character the fortune teller?
Buried deep in the ground.... that was talking about the corpse of Ganondorf, wasn't it?
Dude, i can't stop watching your videos wtf ._. I love your theories, nice stuff 🤘🏼
Thanks!
do more zelda there all so good!!!
5:29 Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity: I mean bud, you ain't wrong.
Here I am after watching the newest hyrule warriors trailer. I think we now know he was right.
What if “lies dormant beneath the ground” has a dual meaning- and is also in reference to the BOTW Zelda and Link not being alive yet? As in their bodies/spirits are buried and have not resurrected yet?
It’s a stretch but that popped into my brain.
I might be getting the two Ganon events confused though.
I feel like only 1 princess gets the power every 10 thousand years because thats when ganon resurrects
I guess we'll find out more of the past with Hyrule Warriors!
Thanks, appreciate it!
Hey Chris i have a question on the fold the fourth minute and seventeen seconds on the Picture the Guardians actually red taht can't be in this time because they aren't under the control of ganon at there
I love the way you edit your videos!
