So I figured out how to get 3rd party apps icons to show back up ….go to settings then my fire tv click about go to bottom click couple times check for updates and that’s it !! 😊
Yup, as I said in the video, I expected and hoped Amazon would fix this and they did with an update a couple of days ago. That's great to see.

@dom6121 yeah, well this was a big one. Spoon many people use the Firestick for 3rd party apps, they couldn't ignore the issue for long.

Amazon fixed this yesterday with a update . As of 10/10/ 23, my new firestick max 2nd gen now shows all icons from 3rd party apps.
Yes, they did! My update actually came in two days ago. I didn't feel a whole new video was necessary. I'm happy they got it fixed so quickly! 😀
This is already fixed. My Firestick 4K Max 2nd generation I just got it, and it works great. No issues.
Great to hear! Yes, this video is 5 weeks old. Some people got the "fix" right away, others not as quickly.
Icon issue apparently fixed. I'd still use an OTG cable with USB hub to put apps on external storage.
Amazon fixed the black out icons for the 8.0 in 4k max, problem now I'm having is dolby plus audio, worked for a few days. Then quit. Amazon says they are working on it. Till then just pick best available sound. This is no help to me with my expensive surround sound system
Not a bad video but I have a very small banner that’s hardly visible up to the top of the screen with much smaller text and a way smaller banner size that works just fine. Not a bad price for 60$ and 5 mins of configuring. It’ll most likely be changed like the last stick….but 60$ is basically for more storage and some processing…I’ll take that instead of waiting.
I had an Amazon Fire TV STick 4K Max (1st Generation) and Netflix had those little freezes every 5 minutes, so I bought the Amazon Fire TV STick 4K Max (2nd Generation) and hoped this issue was finally fixed. But unfortunately it has the exact same issue. That issue also already was reported years ago with the 1st gen on amazon, but it looks like Amazon simply ignored it and failed to fix it on the 2nd gen. I personally dunno if this is a Netflix bug with the Amazon Fire TV STick 4K Max or if it is an hardware or low level android bug with Amazon Fire TV STick 4K Max or also it's because it is overheating, but if that isn't fixed asap i gonna buy an Apple TV 4k (4th Gen) in Juni and throw those Amazon Sticks away and say good bye to Amazon for good. Because this bug is ruining all movies and it's also abysmal that they didn't fix it within the last 2 years.
So i have the 4k and the new 4k max gen 2..the 4k is fine..just slow..but the new 4k max doesnt show uhd hdr like the 4k one does..anybody else have this problem?

ops so far i have not been able to make any thing work with the new 2nd gen 4k max 16gb firestick

i got one for the storage i have been messing with kodi and it will eat over a gig istarted out with it on a usb til i get everything like i wanted it then moved it

There have been SEVERAL updates already since it came out less than two weeks ago.
When I first played with mine, I saw a lot of weird behavior, but it settled down after I checked for updates and restarted it every day for a while. Now it seems pretty solid, and that 16GB is sweet!
And they also don't completely clear the cache

I have left the Fire stick two years ago, always been an Android fan. Am very happy what am streaming with. Has all the top whistles on a device for streaming 👍
GREY ICONS have just been fixed on my 4K Max Firestick in Australia.
I have the Fire Stick 4K Max, and Fire Stick 3rd gen. Both with USB giving added storage of 128 GB that works well for me. So storage really isn't a problem. Other improvements look desirable, but I can wait for now until the bugs are worked out. Thanks for the video! 👍

Ah okay. There is a setting to change that might help with that... Go to Settings (the gear)\Display & Sounds\Audio\Advanced Audio\Volume Leveler and turn that on. See if it makes a difference & let me know. Good Luck!
Always great information I saw where adding the Wolf Launcher app you can view the icons for now until Amazon updates the OS8 which to me isn’t a big deal I just want the third party apps to work !

Hi Bob. I’m having trouble with storage on the 4K max! I had a USB drive on the 4K which I put on the 4K max, and now the 4k max does not recognize the USB for some reason. I also restarted the Firestick a few times, and it’s still not recognizing it, even though it will format it. So obviously something is wrong or I’m doing something wrong. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.
What is it that you want to use the USB drive for? External for files or internal for apps. Have you seen my videos on adding storage?
'm going from an Amazon Fire Stick 2nd gen from like around 2015 to a Fire Stick 4k Max 2023. That 8GB to 16 GB boost and at about twice the RAM should help.
I have two issues with the Firestick 4k Max. When in screen saver, it loses the HDMI connection. It comes back by pushing the select button, but I'd prefer it didn't lose it in the first place. Second, and most annoying. I cannot get out of screen saver without using the home button. Pushing any button on the remote will not exit screen saver. I would like to keep the screen saver option, but only want to be able to exit it easily... Any help?

Guess what, adding usb storage can be done but now apps can't be moved to usb storage with fire os8.

I've had my 4k firestick max 2nd Gen for awhile now. Since I've had it my major problem that keeps happening is my apps keeps closing constantly is there a fix to this?
Unable to register the new fire stick 4k max to my Amazon account. Amazon customer service refunded me and said they are having a lot of problems with the 2nd generation 4k max
I have the new 4k max 2nd gen and I too have the greyed out icons so I installed Wolf Launcher so I can see what apps I installed.

Along with gray icons there are storage permission issues with 3rd party apps. Also, mouse toggle doesn't come on.
Yep no mouse toggle is updated to work cause I tried every version out …
3rd party apps show up just fine on my 4kMax V2... but I've had hardware problems with 2 of them... Both had be returned.
I have Kodi and Stay Alive on, and both show icons. No problems so far with mine. All the normal UK catch-up apps seem to work fine (as well as they ever do, that is). Never had a Firestick before (had a WDTV Live) but I am happy enough (at the mo!)
Adding usb storage can be done on the 4k Max running fire os 8 but now apps can't be moved to usb storage. You can format the usb drive to internal storage but it isn't reflected in the total storage space so I don't know if it is added or not. Is there any work around?

I bought 3, 4k Max's and 1, 4k all 4 are 2023 straight out of the box and plugged them in and went straight to boot loop they didn't even make it to wi-fi setup all were refunded. So amazon gave me a new fire cube at no charge.@@CordCuttersLI

I have the Fire Stick 4K and Max, and I am wondering lately why when I change programs (not always) the sound will go or down. I've been through all the help data but nothing seems to work. I have used my 4k for a couple of years now and problem just popped up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Do you mean when you change TV channels, or when you go from one app to another?
Yes I got and install it on my TV. I'm disappointed that I can't see what I install. I have to be patient for the update.
